JONESVILLE, SC-- Mr. James E. Jim Kerr, 73, of 310 Alman Street, Jonesville, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at 7:13 a.m. in Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care after an extended illness.
Mr. Kerr was born in Jonesville on August 21, 1931, a son of the late Edgar H. Kerr and Louise Strong Kerr. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and was retired from The Citadel. Mr. Kerr was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mitzi K. Caldwell and husband Bobby of Spartanburg; a son, James R. Ronnie Kerr and wife Judy of Jonesville; two sisters, Bernice K. Blackwell and Gladys K. Garrett, both of Spartanburg; two brothers, John Kerr of Spartanburg, and Ernest Shot Kerr of Jonesville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Brown.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Mitzi K. Caldwell, 1256 Seay Road, Spartanburg, and will receive friends at Holcombes Jonesville Chapel Wednesday night from 7-9:00 p.m.

WEST SPRINGS, SCMrs. Louise Fowler Bogan, 77, widow of Harry Bogan, of 4321 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Jonesville, died Friday, December 3, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, after an extended illness.
Mrs. Bogan was born in Spartanburg County, August 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Luther Fowler and Eunice Cothran Fowler Heatherly. She was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church, and the Mary Sue Keiths Sunday School Class. Mrs. Bogan was a homemaker and a beloved Mother.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Brewington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Randall and Kathy Bogan, and Marshall Bogan and April Hines, all of the West Springs Community; three sisters, Frances Sherfield, Joyces Moss, and Shirley Heatherly, all of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Lisa Bogan, Lance Brewington, and Mark Brewington; two step-grandchildren, Daniel Crocker, and Stacie Bobo; four great-grandchildren, Lauren Brewington, Rachel Brewington, Riley Brewington, and Dixie Crocker. Mrs. Bogan was predeceased by an infant sister, Doris Fowler.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at Bogansville United Methodist Church, by Rev. Gary Peterson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Sunday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m., and will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Monday to await the hour of service.

UNION, SC-- Mr. Nelson Eddy Fowler, Sr., 57, husband of Windy Webb Fowler of 576 River Road, Union, died at his home after a sudden illness.
Mr. Fowler was born in Union, June 23, 1947, a son of the late Leroy and Sudie Montgomery Fowler. He was employed with Lil Cricket Stores for fifteen years in maintenance. Mr. Fowler was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Nelson Eddy Fowler, Jr. of Union, and Monte S. Fowler who is currently serving with the U. S. Army in Iraq; two sisters, Gail Guinn of Union, and Gaye F. Broome of Boiling Springs; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the S. R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will be in Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Monday night from 7-8:30 p.m.

UNION, SC-- Mrs. Nancy Wylie Duckett, 59, wife of Halon McArthur Duckett of 2028 Jonesville Highway, Union, died at her home on Sunday, December 5, 2004, after a long illness.
Mrs. Duckett was born in Gaffney, May 14, 1945, a daughter of Gene and Gladys Searcy Wiley of Union. Mrs. Duckett was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are two daughters, June Carol Davis and husband Larry, and Julie Duckett Horne and friend David Ritz, all of Union; two sons, Danny Halon Duckett of the home, and Richard Keith Duckett and wife Claudia of Gaffney; one sister, Linda Blanton of Gaffney; one brother, Tom Boyle of Union; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Warren Jones and Rev. Clarence Crocker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends Monday night from 7-9:00 p.m. and will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday to await the hour of service.

UNION, SC-- Mr. James Earl Howell, 84, husband of Nanalene Fowler Howell, formerly of 201 Highland Drive, Union, died Saturday, December 4, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Howell was born in Kelton, July 20, 1920, a son of the late Willie and Bridgie McCullough Howell. He was retired from Milliken Company Excelsior Plant and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Mr. Howell was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 22 of Union.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Jerry Howell of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Sara Ann Farr of Jonesville and Callie Clark of Union; eight brothers, William Howell of Union, Howard Howell of Spartanburg, Ned Howell of Sylvania, GA, Charles Howell of Charleston, Billy Howell of Laurens, Russell Howell of San Antonio, TX, Eugene Howell and Donald Hope Howell, both of Union; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Howell was predeceased by a brother, Ervin Lee Howell.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Roger Plemmons. Burial will be at Mt. Joy Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body will remain at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Monday night from 7-9:00 p.m. and will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday to await the hour of service.

BUFFALO, SC-- Mrs. Mabel Evans Lawson, 84, of 1307 Linersville Road, Buffalo, widow of Martin E. Lawson, died Monday, December 6, 2004, at 4:40 a.m. in Wallace-Thomson Hospital.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Buffalo on June 2, 1920, a daughter of the late Lawrence Evans and Annie Willard Evans. She was a graduate of Union High School and was former owner and operator of the Nixie Beauty Shop. Mrs. Lawson was a life-long member of Buffalo Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Margaret E. West of Decatur, GA, and Barbara E. Land of Glenn Springs. Mrs. Lawson was predeceased by a sister and four brothers, Drucie E. Robinson, William Evans, Robert Charles Evans, Ray E. Evans and Billy R. Evans.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Buffalo Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Tim Anderson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
The body will remain at the funeral home and will be placed in the church at 1:00 p.m. Thursday to await the hour of service.
The family is at the home, 1307 Linersville Road, Buffalo, and will receive friends at Buffalo Baptist Church, Thursday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

Donnie Ray Nance Babb, 41, of 116 Francis Ave., Union, widower of
Patricia Denise Nance, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Providence Hospital
N.E. in Columbia after a sudden illness.
Mr. Babb was born in Union on May 14, 1963, a son of Nellie Lunsford
Babb Cartee of Union and the late Jesse Thomas Babb. He was a Baptist and
was employed with Union Tree Service.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his stepfather, Willie Cartee
of Union; two sisters, Debbie Davis and husband Randy of Buffalo and Tonya
Sulton and husband Rufus of Union; three stepdaughters, Altie Howell,
Marie Ciprano and Audrey Glover, all of Union; a stepson, Jim Paul Watts
of Union; six grandchildren, Audrey Gail Howell, Leah Howell, Destiny
Ciprano, Denise Ciprano, Sarah Glover, all of Union and Kasey Watts of
Pennsylvania; a special niece, Sandy Babb of Union; and special friends,
Brenda Keith and Patricia Dallassandro of Union. Mr. Babb was predeceased
by a brother, Ricky Babb and a nephew, Chris Babb.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Ottaray Baptist
Church conducted by the Rev. Bobby Crocker and the Rev. Frank Cartee.
Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Brad Davis, Paul Watts, Willie Cartee, David
Jones, Dallas Covington and Rudy Clark. The body is at the home of his
mother, Nellie B. Cartee, 116 Francis Ave., Union, and will be placed in
church at 2 p.m. Friday to await the hour of service.

UNION, SCMrs. Rovella Ann Ochiltree (Rose) Loyd, 62, of 1216 Old Buncombe Road, Union, passed away at her residence, at 11:13 p.m., on December 9, 2004, after a long battle with cancer. Mrs. Loyd was born in Union on November 30, 1942, a daughter of Beaulah Scales Ochiltree of Union and the late Woodrow (Woody) Ochiltree. She attended Union High School and was an active member of the basketball team throughout high school. She attended college for five years in Orange County, California. She was an Author and Writer of personalized childrens books. She was a member of Padgetts Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving other than her mother, are the love of her life and soul mate, Ronnie S. Loyd of the home; four children, Cheryl Ann Inman of Union, David Roach of Union, Chris Roach and wife Tammy of Union, and Rhonda Lee of the home; a sister, Brenda O. Thompson of Union; a brother, Albert Ochiltree and wife Brenda of Union; two step-daughters, Kim Hamilton and Kelly Bell Loyd of Mobile, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Brandi Northern of Union, Jason Erwin and wife Jessica of Greenville, Josh and Jennifer Inman of Union, Laura R. Meador and Casey Roach of Union, Cassie R. Fox and Karrie A. Roach of Union; two step-grandchildren, Tyler and Ashley Hamilton of Mobile, Alabama; eight great-grandchildren, Davin Keasler, BeKah Fox, Christian, Logan and Chloe Meador, Kiya LeKay Hughes, all of Union, Jalynn and Tristin Erwin of Greenville; and one great-grandchild will be born in April 2005. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews and special friends, Rubie Zorrero of Hemet, California, Debbie Estes of Lake Wylie, Mike Palmer of Mobile, Alabama, Wanda Carter of Texas and Donna McElrath of Cross Anchor.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, at Padgetts Creek Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Joe Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Fox, Kevin Owenby, Alex Harkins, Lester Duncan, David Meador, and Heath Haney.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, at the Holcombe Funeral Home. The body will be placed in church at 1:00 p.m. Monday, to await the hour of service.

Callicutt Retired from J.P. Stevens Katie R. Callicutt, 85, widow of Abner Callicutt, of 3985 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Jonesville, died Sunday Dec. 19, 2004, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a lingering Illness. Mrs. Callicutt was born in the Dutchman community of Spartanburg County, Dec. 25, 1917, a daughter of the late John and Florence Smith Riddle. She was retired from JP. Stevens Jonesville Plant and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Spartanburg Co. Mrs. Callicutt was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Lillie Mae and James D. Brewington of Jonesville; a grandson and his wife, Scott and Angie Brewington of Union; and three great-grandchildren, Melanie Brewington, Madison Brewington, and Matthew Brewington. Mrs. Callicutt was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Friendship Baptist Church in Pauline by the Rev. Johnny Burgess, the Rev. Mr. Charles was born in Union June 7, 1915 in a log cabin on the site of the present Union High School, a son of the late James S. Charles and Pearl Wood Charles. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer, having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are a son, Dr. Allan Charles of Union; a daughter, Jo Carolyn Anzalone of Pittsburgh, Pa., a brother, Stuart Charles of Jacksonville, Fla., five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
