Mrs. Bonnie Dean Bowers, age 69, of 1817 Jonesville Hwy, Union, SC, widow of Gwinn A. Bowers died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Kinder, La. April 5, 1937, a daughter of Aileen Johnson

Fontenot Nevils of Kingsfarm, La. and the late Elam Fontenot. She was a homemaker and a mother to six boys. Mrs. Bowers was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Union.

Surviving in addition to her mother are; four sons: Rev. Tim Bowers and wife Rebecca of Union, Gregory Dean Bowers of Dallas, Tx. Anthony Shane Bowers of Union and Jeffery Scott Bowers of Houston, Tx.. Mrs. Bowers had two deceased sons: Donald Wayne Bowers and Kevin Elam Bowers. Surviving also are two brothers: Wayne Fontenot and wife Wanda of Kingsfarm, La., and Doug Fontenot of Kinder, La, a sister, Christy Fontenot of Kingsfarm, La., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Bowers was predeceased by a sister, Paula Louvierre.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at First United Pentecostal Church conducted by Rev. Wade Lormand and her son Rev. Tim Bowers. Burial will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Bowers, Aaron Bowers, John Spiers, Frank Toney, Zack Taylor and Rolph Toney.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday at the First United Pentecostal Church in Union.

Danny Earl Smith

Mr. Danny Earl Smith, age 42, husband of Donna Lawson Smith, of 742 Fairview Church Circle Union, died Sunday, December 3rd, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Smith was born in Union, March 3, 1964 , a son of Earl F. and Jo Anne Vinson Smith of Union. Mr. Smith was a graduate of Union High School class of 1982, a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Lawson Hardwood Floors and Triangle Maintenance Inc.

Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are; a daughter, Crystal Brooke Smith Crawford and husband Phillip of Union, a son; Daniel Kyle Smith of the home and his special friend, Brooke Harris, a grandson, Destry Cale Crawford of Union, a sister: Tammy Smith Tucker and fiancé Danny Cannon of Union; his father and mother-in-law; Ken and Nancy Lawson of Union, three brothers-in-law; Kenny Lawson and wife Rhonda, Mark Lawson, and Shane Lawson all of Union; a special niece and nephew; Shannon and Benji Tucker and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 5th, 2006 at Lakeside Baptist Church, 1262 South Duncan Bypass Union, conducted by the Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Lee, Alan Wilson, Mark Lawson, Kenny Lawson, Chris Linder, Randy (Chump) Hanvey, Ronnie Smith, and Jimmy Crawford. Mr. Max F. Ponder, age 76, husband of Nell Coleman Ponder of 624 Bailey Rd., Buffalo, SC died Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ponder was born in Marion, NC April 27, 1930, a son of the late O.L. Ponder, Sr. and Zora Reynolds Ponder. He retired form United Merchants-Buffalo Plant, was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a member of Duncan Masonic Lodge #256.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; a daughter, Nancy P. Evans and husband Phil of Mesquite, Tx., three sons: Maxie R. Ponder and wife Darnell, Eddie E. Ponder and special friend, Bonnie Wages and Mark S. Ponder all of Buffalo, a brother, O.L. Ponder, Jr. and wife Ruby of Spartanburg, seven grandchildren: Angela Fowler, Chad Ponder, Shannon Burnett, Billy Ponder, Kacie Lawson, Michelle Lowder and Daniel Ponder and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Ponder was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Lisa Ponder Lawson and a son, Jimmy Ponder.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 7, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.

Beverly Stines Jr., 72, husband of Phyllis Crocker Stines, of 214 Old Shetley Place, Union, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Clyde L. Wages, Jr.

Mr. Clyde Leroy Wages, Jr., age 73 of 401 Toney Rd., Union, husband of Priscilla Wyatt Wages, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Wages was born in Chester, Nov. 13, 1933, a son of the late Clyde Leroy Wages, Sr. and Alma Levister Wages. He retired from Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing Plant and was a member of Cool Branch Bapitst Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are several nieces and nephews. Mr. Wages was predeceased by a sister, Ruby W. Houston and a brother L. E. Wages.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. John Cribb and Dr. Carroll Calvert. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Ila Mae Rector, age 83, of 363 Vaughn Rd., Union, SC, widow of Charles L. Rector died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Rector was born in Chester County, SC, February 17, 1923, a daughter of the late William Paul Vaughn and Mamie Gault Vaughn Boughman. She graduated Kelly Pickney High School and retired from J.P. Stevens- Jonesville Plant. Mrs. Rector was a member of Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors are; three daughters: Brenda Gene Franklin, Jo Anne Kelley both of Union and Jamie Gilliland of Pacolet, four sisters: Louise Kirby of Union, Virginia Beers, Frances Craig and Donna Harris all of Spartanburg, three brothers: James Vaughn, Paul "Cook" Vaughn both of Union and Harold Vaughn of Jonesville, three grandsons: Jeff Rector, Phillip Gregory and wife Kadana, Jason Gregory and wife Bobbie Ann all of Union and six great-grandsons. Mrs. Rector was predeceased by three children: Charles Rector, Jr., Mary Charles Rector and Mary Kim Rector, one sister, Mittie Ruth Boughman and two brothers: R.D. Vaughn and Bobby D. Vaughn.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2006 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Keith Sweat and Rev. Randy Smith.

Mr. Camillus Bothwell "CB" Jeter, Jr.

UNION, SC-- Mr. Camillus Bothwell "CB" Jeter, Jr., age 68, husband of Brenda Brooks Jeter of 101 Hidden Hill Road, Union, SC, died on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Jeter was born in Whitmire, SC on April 5, 1938, a son of the late Camillus Bothwell Jeter, Sr. and Evelyn Suber Jeter. He was a graduate of Whitmire High School and Newberry College and was owner of Jeter Agency and Quick Cash of Union. Mr. Jeter was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a former member of the S.C. National Guard-Union Unit.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Cam Jeter, III and wife Teresa of of Santuck and Stephen Jeter of Union; a sister, Betty J. Ramsey of Whimire; a brother, James T. Jeter, III of Spartanburg; and three grandchildren. Mr. Jeter was predeceased by a daughter Julie Jeter.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 8, 2006 at the Jeter Family Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson.

Mr. James F. Leonhardt, age 71, husband of Margaret Wilson Leonhardt of 720 Lakeside Drive, Apt. K6, Union, SC died Friday, December 8, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Leonhardt was born in Union, January 27, 1935, a son of the late Herbert M. Leonhardt and Allie Mae Lawson Leonhardt. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty-two ½ years of service and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five daughters: Jennie Ann Montgomery and husband Robert of Temple, TX, Kim From and husband Ed of Otis, CO., Kori Manley and husband Bill of Colorado Springs, CO, Ashley Leonhardt Sanders and husband Michael and Angela Mitchell and fiancee Thomas Austin all of Union; a son: James Dean Leonhardt and wife Debbie of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister: Mildred Hawkins of Union, nine grandchildren: Random Allen, Brian Hixon, RyLee From, Holly Leonhardt, William Thomason, Cherie Woodsby, Candice Woodsby, Joshua Willard and Hailey Sanders and three great-grandchildren: Talon Montgomery, Jadus Falls and Tristen Davis. Mr. Leonhardt was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Leonhardt.

Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Robert Jarvis and Chaplin Stewart Smith with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends 2:00-3:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service at the chapel.

James H. Cook

Mr. James H. Cook, age 83, husband of Pearl Black Cook of 125 East Forest Drive, Union, SC died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Cook was born in Lockhart, SC July 28, 1923, a son of the late Jay Cook and Lillie Mae Patrick Cook. He graduated the Beaver Creek Bible Institute. Mr. Cook retired from Torrington Co.-Tyger River Plant and was a member of Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was a Volunteer with the Monarch Fire Department where he served on the Board of Directors and was the elected Commissioner for Monarch Fire District. Mr. Cook was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII serving with the 269th Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater.

Surviving in addition to his wife are; two daughters: Joyce Cook Mincey and Sharon Cook both of Rock Hill, SC, a son, Jimmie Cook and wife Susan of Green Cove Springs, Fl, two sisters: Ruth Davis of Gaffney and Lucille Smith of Chesnee, a brother, Jerry Cook of Pelion, SC, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Bishop and Rev. Paul Childers. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Nancy Zeigler Gregory, age 73, wife of Gene A. Gregory of 2930 Santuc Carlisle Hwy, Union, SC died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Gregory was born in Detroit, MI May 16, 1933, a daughter of the late Bryce Zeigler and Clara Kruck Zeigler. She graduated Union High School , was a homemaker and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of Catherine Williamson’s Sunday School Class, a member of the Keenagers Senior Group. Mrs. Gregory was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are; a daughter, Pamela J. Gregory of Union, two sons: Terry Z. Gregory of Wellford, SC and George E. Gregory and special friend Karen of Union, a special sister-in-law, Deanie Blackwood, four grandchildren: Letitia " Tish"Brannen and husband James of Edgemore, SC, Bridgett Gregory and husband Bryan of Union, Bryce Gregory and special friend Felecia of Charleston, SC and Gena Gregory of Union, five great-grandchildren: Stuart Brannen and Thomas Brannen both of Edgemore, SC, Dalton Gregory, Braeden Gregory and Parker Gregory all of Union and a special friend Margaret Ann Newton of Union. Mrs. Cleo Graham Bennett, age 80, wife of Rev. Austin Bennett of 687 Gaffney Hwy., Jonesville, SC died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Bennett was born in West Springs, SC August 25, 1926, a son of the late Orin H. Graham and Clara Belle Lancaster Graham. She graduated West Springs High School and was a member of West Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Bennett was a former Sunday School teacher and WMU Director while at Bethesda Baptist Church. She faithfully helped her husband minister in the churches where he served.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 63 years are two sons: Larry Bennett and wife Linda of Jonesville and Lynn Bennett and wife Brenda of Spartanburg, a sister, Mildred G. Rogers and a brother, Nelson H. Graham both of Union, five grandchildren: Richard Bennett, Brian Bennett, Greg Bennett Jeffrey Bennett and Jill Hyatt, five great-grandchildren: Kevin Bennett, Michael Bennett, Brook Kelly, Logan Bennett and Abigail Bennett and a special care giver, Shirley Lancaster of Jonesville.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at West Springs Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Henry Johnson and Rev. Joe Stover. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Villamor Cepeda "Bill" Manibusan

Mr. Villamor Cepeda " Bill" Manibusan, age 55 of 166 Camelot Drive, Union, SC died Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Manibusan was born in Chalan Pago, Guam October 26, 1951, a son of the late Thomas Perez Manibusan and Milagro Cepeda Manibusan. He was the stepson of the late George Ponder. He was employed Meyco Products and was formerly employed with the S.C. Department of Transportation in Union. Mr. Manibusan was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Union and attended the St. Paul The Apostle Church in Spartanburg. He was formerly married to the late JoAnne Alvarez Revis.

Survivors are: a daughter, Jolynn M. Chitwood of Duncan, a son, Matthew James Manibusan of Pacolet, nine sisters: Beverly Camacho and Rita Cooper both of Union, Doris Duenas and Eleanor Garrido both of Jonesville, Pacita Lizama of Guam, Geri Lominick of Greenwood, Jeanette Dubell and Sandra Ottersten both of Virginia Beach, Va., Bertha Dempsey of Clinton, two brothers: Tommy Manibusan of Union and William "Ben" Cruz of Raeford, NC, seven grandchildren: Eden Chitwood, Novah Manibusan, Matthew J. Manibusan, Jr., Madelyn Manibusan, Dakota Bailey, Jasmine Bailey and Hunter Harris, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 15, 2006 at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Union conducted by Father Michael McCafferty. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Cheryl "Cheri" Hella-Gonzales

Cheryl "Cheri" Hella-Gonzales, age 48 of Estancia, New Mexico died Thursday, December 7, 2006.

Cheri was born in Marquette, Michigan, August 15, 1958, a daughter of Elwood Hella of Buffalo, SC and Pat Hella of Union, SC. Cheri was tiny in size, but huge in spirit. She endured more during her lifetime than most of us understand. She always found humor in every situation and her artistic abilities were wonderfully unique. She lived most of her life in South Carolina and New Mexico.

Cheri is survived in addition to her parents by two daughters, Katie Gonzales and Connie Freeman, brothers and sisters: Roy Hella and wife Jane, Loren Adcox and wife Josie, Patty Vaughan and husband Simp, Linda Kimmel and husband Ed, Constance Adcox-Lowden and husband David and Nanci Diz, five nieces and seven nephews. She was predeceased by a step-mother, Joan Hella, grandparents, Ted & Minnie Hella, Hank & Ethel Conley and Frank Hollowinski.

Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, December 16, 2006 at Frist Baptist Church of Estancia, New Mexico.

Sadie McGowan Bratton

Mrs. Sadie McGowan Bratton, age 87, widow of R.G. "Mose" Bratton, formerly of Hart Street Union, SC died Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem, N.C.

Mrs. Bratton was born in Union, SC January 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Linder McGowan and Jessie Baldwin McGowan. She was an active lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors are: a daughter, Linda B. McCay and husband Steve, two grandsons, Jonathan McCay and Alex McCay all of Winston Salem, N.C.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens following visitation.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mr. Paul D. Hart, age 72, husband of Forrest Harris Hart of 113 Wardlaw Street, Union, SC died Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at his home.

Mr. Hart was born in Union, SC July 29, 1934, a son of the late Paul Hart and Willie Webb Hart. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty plus years of service and served in the Vietnam War. Mr Hart was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are: two daughters: Dianne Sherfield of Alabama and Sandra Hart of Nebraska, a son, Randy Hart of Missouri, three step-sons: William Hughes of Mississipi, Charles Hughes of Maryland, Robin Hughes of the home and a sister, Dianne Hill of Union and a number of grandchildren.

Mr. Turner was born in Glendale, SC July 15, 1916, a son of the late H.M. Turner and Lillie Green Turner. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II. Mr.

Turner was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Mrs. Rector was born in Union, SC August 8, 1960, a daughter of the late Jerry Lipsey and Violet Puckett Lipsey. She was formerly employed with Fast Phill’s in Jonesville and with Monarch Mill. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Mrs. Annie Bell Kennett Crow age 89, widow of Frank A. Crow, died Sat. Dec. 16, 2006 at Oakmont Nursing Center.

Mrs. Crow was born in Union, July 6, 1917, a daughter of the late William and Para Lee Kennett. She was retired from Sears and Roebuck Co. in Greensboro, NC and was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Union. Mrs. Crow was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a former president of the WMU and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two sons: James W. Crow and wife Hazel of Union and Frank M. Crow and wife Vicki of Kannapolis NC; four grandchildren: Tommy Crow and wife Cheryl, Patti Shetley and husband Joey, Rosanne Garrett and husband Jimmy and Kim Simpson and husband Scott; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Proctor was born in Union, Dec. 12, 1928 a daughter of the late Alford Mize and Lelia Elder Arrowood Mize. She was retired from J.P. Stevens and had formerly worked as a nurses aid at Oakmont Nursing Center. Mrs. Proctor was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stevens was a member of Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, W.M.U. Director, a member of the church choir and a member of the Union County Baptist Council W.M.U.

Survivors are a son, Ronald Stevens and wife Sheila of Greenbriar, Tenn, a brother, Homer Preis, two grandsons, Christopher Stevens of Springfield, TN and Kevin Stevens serving in the US Airforce in England. Mrs. Stevens was predeceased by a daughter, Ruby Jo Austin.

Mrs. Miriam Bledsoe Travis, age 83, of Eden Terrace, formerly of Union, widow of Charles L. Travis, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Mrs. Travis was born in Louisville, MS, May 1, 1923, a daughter of the late James Franklin Bledsoe and Emellia Susanna Chancellor Bledsoe. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, the Ethel Thompson Sunday School class and active in the Tape Ministry of the church. Mrs. Travis and her husband volunteered with the Adult Education Program of Union advocating adult literacy. By her faithful service to others, she was a true servant of God on earth.

Surviving are two sons: Randy Travis and wife Tricia of Union, and Chuck Travis and wife Shirley of Dallas, TX; one sister Imogene Bledsoe Gambrell of Simpsonville; one brother: William Kennett Bledsoe and wife Charlotte of Greenville; 9 grandchildren: Andrea T. Mr. Crocker was born in Union, SC, November 2, 1910, a son of the late Russell Crocker and Alice Palmer Crocker. He retired from J.P. Stevens - Jonesville Plant, was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church, a member of the American Legion - Jonesville Post and a mason for over seventy years. Mr. Crocker was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy Seaman First Class having served in World War II.

Survivors are: a daughter, Mary C. Harvey and husband Buddy, a granddaughter, Haila Scoggins and husband Waymon, a grandson, Don Harvey and wife Tonya, four great-grandchildren, Jade and Charner Adams and Katey and Travis Godfrey all of Pacolet and a step-great-grandson, Zack Scoggins, a sister, Mary C. Fredna Louise Grady-Bentley, age 79 of 241 Horseshoe Falls Rd., Enoree, SC and formerly of 102 Church Avenue, Union, SC went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Christmas Day, December 25, 2006.

Mrs. Bentley was born on July 1,1927 to the late Rector and Lizzie Stevens-Grady. She was the wife of the late Russell Bentley of Lockhart, SC and was first m;arried to James Boyd "Buck" Nabors, Sr of Enoree, SC. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters. She was a member of the former Westside Bajptist Church. Fredna worked as an auto comer at Union Mill for about 18 years and retired after 20 years of service with Lockhart Mill. She was last employed by Walmart as a door greeter in the Garden Center, where she never met a stranger and loved working with any kind of plant or flower. She also enjoyed painting ceramics, collecting angels and canning fresh vegetables and fruits as well as spoiling her two dogs, Cricket and Angel. She was an active member of Hillbilly Clan #2 of the Hejaz Shriners.

Mr. Dabbs was a member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and retired from Leeds Plant. He was first married to the late Alma Lula Dabbs.

Mr. Jimmy Dean Blackwell, age 63 of 241 Wilson Road, Union, SC, widower of Debra McChesney Blackwell died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Blackwell was born in Jonesville, SC August 29, 1943 a son of the late Ralph Blackwell and Eva Harris Blackwell. He graduated Jonesville High School and was formerly employed with TNS Mills and Milliken & Co. Mr. Blackwell attended Brown’s Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors are two daughters: Monica Newton and husband Jamie and Lisa Shetley and husband Ronald all of Union, a son Joey Blackwell and wife Rhonda of Buffalo, a twin sister, Betty Jane Gault of Jonesville and two other sisters: Barbara Lamb of Lockhart and Doris Faucette of Jonesville, five grandchildren: Kevin Flowers, Kelly Flowers, Christopher Wilson and Chelsey Wilson and one great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Newton. Mr. Blackwell was predeceased by a sister, Judy Dixon.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, December 29, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Robbie Faucette, Aaron DePrather, Rodney White, Mickey Wilson, Rusty Robinson and Mike Parks.

Dr. Jean Clark Mize
Union, SC

Dr. Jean Clark Mize, age 73, of 177 Carem Rd., Union, SC, widow of Harold Mize died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at her home.

Dr. Mize was born in Union, SC May 27, 1933, a daughter of the late Malcolm O. Clark and Niles Johnson Clark. Dr. Mize graduated Winthrop College where she received her Bachelor of Science degree and also her Masters degree Cum Laude. Dr. Mize received her Doctoral of Speech Therapy from the University of South Carolina. She had worked in the Union County School System and the Cherokee County School System, retiring from both districts. She was a member of the National Educational Association, the American Legion Auxillary and a former member of the Union County School Board Trustees. Dr. Mize was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was active in the Deaf Ministry.

Surviving are two daughters: Alice Gregory and husband Terry and Betty Loyd and husband Sandy, a son, Danny Mize and wife Sheila all of Union, two brothers: Malcolm Clark of Camden, SC and Russell Clark of Orlando, Fl, sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a cousin, Helen Grady of Union.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2006 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Alan Quarles and Rev. Robert Branch. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Michael Poole, Travis Poole, Clay Garner, Derek Loyd, Johathan Mize, Adam Mize, Jason Gregory and Brandon Smith. The following are asked to assemble at the chapel at 10:45 AM Friday to form the Honorary Escort, Employees of the Union County School System and members of Dr. Mize’s Sunday School Class of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Mrs. Alma Gladys Beach Craven, age 84, wife of Charles Edward Craven, of 213 Honeybee Circle, Union, SC died Friday, December 29, 2006 at her home.

Mrs. Craven was born in Queensland, Australia December 25, 1922 a daughter of the late Alfred E. Beach and Edith Gwendoline Thrush Downy. Mrs. Craven was raised by her beloved step-father Mr. Henshion. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Surviving in addition to her husband Charles are a daughter, Gloria Milne of Union, two grandchildren, James C. Milne and Melissa E. Nance, two great-grandchildren, William Nance and Alexa Nance and a half sister, Lorna L. Hooder of Australia.

Memorial services will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday evening, January 2, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. John Cribb.

The family will receive friends 5:00-6:00 PM Tuesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Deloris "Lois" Stewart

Mrs. Deloris "Lois" Sutton Stewart, age 75, wife of Paul Stewart, of 201 Davis St, Union, SC died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Stewart was born in Pacolet, SC, June 14, 1931, a daughter of the late Herbert Sutton and Frances Kirby Sutton. She was a graduate of Pacolet High School and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of Catherine Williamson Sunday School Class. Mrs. Stewart was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving in addition to her husband Paul are two sons: Marion Stewart and wife Jean and Chris Stewart and wife Donna all of Union, a granddaughter, Samantha Stewart and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Stewart was predeceased by a sister and three brothers, Sarah Foster, Ray Sutton, Charles Sutton and Herbert Sutton, Jr.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Jim Palmer.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:00 PM Monday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Helen Mitchell James

Mrs. Helen Mitchell James, age 85, widow of Albert Ernest James, formerly of Philippi Church Rd., Union, SC died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. James was born in Lockhart, SC, December 21, 1921, a daughter of the late John Mitchell and Ethel Waters Mitchell. She attended Philippi Baptist Church.

Survivors are a daughter, Dorothy J. Owens of Union, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. James was predeceased by a son, Ernest Eugene James and three brothers, Johnny Mitchell, James T. Mitchell and William Mitchell.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 1, 2007 at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jerry Ford.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Jones, Tony Neal, Dean Robinson, George Bruce, Jonathan Owens and Andy Owens. The staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and the staff of Carolina Internal Medicine are asked to sit in a group.
