Mrs. Cleo Ivey Vinson, age 88, widow of Murphy Jefferson Vinson of 593 Browns Creek Church Rd., Union, SC died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Vinson was born in Union, SC August 8, 1918, a daughter of the late Wallace Ivey and Lelia Sinclair Ivey. She graduated Kelly-Pinckney High School and retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant. Mrs. Vinson was a member of Brown’s Creek Baptist Church where she taught the Children’s Sunday School Class for many years.

Survivors are a daughter, Karen Crocker and husband Jimmy, two sons, Terry Vinson and wife Ginger all of Union and Stan Vinson and wife Barbara of Simpsonville, a sister, Ruby Davis of Union, four grandchildren: Tyler Crocker, Ivey Vinson, Kristy DeKrafft and Amber Price, three great-grandchildren Bryson DeKrafft, Riley DeKrafft and Delaney Price. Mrs. Vinson was predeceased by a brother, Emmitt Ivey.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Brown’s Creek Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Stepp, Johnny Ivey, Byrd Ivey, James Burnett, Bruce Sparks, David Tollison, Richie Petty and Don Davis.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Brenda Parks Ochiltree
Union, SC

Mrs. Brenda Parks Ochiltree, age 58, wife of Albert Ochiltree of 104 3rd Avenue, Union, SC died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Ochiltree was born in Union, SC January 12, 1948, a daughter of Edna Chalk Parks of Union and the late Harold Parks. She graduated Union High School, was formerly employed with F & K Textiles and was a member of New Life Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are three daughters: Jill Crocker and husband Russell of Union, Kristi Moss of the home, and Dawn Spencer and husband Randy of Jonesville, two brothers, Fred Parks and wife Midge of Georgia and Mike Parks and wife Sara Jane of Union, two sisters, Nita White and husband Franklin and Jo Wood and husband Alvin all of Union, five grandchildren: Chance Gregory, Matthew Ochiltree, Nicholas Moss, Kensleigh and Kayleigh Spencer and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ochiltree was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Lipsey.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at New Life Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Carroll Calvert. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be the following nephews: Tommy Fowler, Jr., William "Billy" Fowler, Robin Wood, Richie Fowler, David White and Shane Parks.

The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 Tuesday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Ray Gideon Black
Fomerly of Union

Mr. Ray Gideon Black, age 88, widower of Elizabeth Oda Belle Yount Black, formerly of Union, SC died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Morningside Assisted Living in Sumter, SC.

Mr. Black was born in Union, SC, September 21, 1918 a son of the late William Walker Black and Josie Rochester Black. He graduated Wofford College, retired from Timken Company and was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. Mr. Black was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII.

Survivors are three sons: Boyd Black and wife Cheryl of Camden, SC, Raymond Black and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Fl and Sandy Black and wife Mary of Titusville, Fl, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a sister, Virginia Carter and husband Theron of Union and a brother Dwight Gene "Dean" Black and wife Mavis of Apple Valley, CA. Mr. Black was predeceased by a sister and seven brothers and a great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Robert Emory. Burial will be in Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.

Sara Frances Clark
Chester, SC

Mrs. Sara Frances Clark, age 81, widow of Marion J. Clark of 4350 Mt. Pleasant Church Rd., Chester, SC died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the home of her daughter Janice C. McKellar..

Mrs. Clark was born in Chester, SC January 16. 1925, a daughter of the late Horace L. Porter and Edna Robbins Porter. She retired Milliken & Co-Lockhart Plant and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Survivors are three daughters: Judith C. Love of York, Janice C. McKellar and husband Jack L. of Chester and Susan C. Brown and husband Joe of Greensboro, NC, four sisters: Dane Carter of Lockhart, JoAnne Gibson, Elaine Youngblood and Carolyn Belue all of Union, four brothers: Horace Lee Porter of Chester, Tom Porter of Blackstock, Sonny Porter of Chester and Eddie Porter of Union, five grandchildren: Mark C. Love, Jennifer L. Rollins, Lee McKellar, Shannon Clark McKellar Baldwin and Eric Brown, two great-grandchildren: Mason Love and Haley Love and three step-great-grandchildren: Jessica N. Baldwin, Justin R. Baldwin and Clay Rollins. Mrs. Clark was predeceased by five sisters, Irene Mothershed, Jane Childer, Margaret McSwain, Anne Gilfillian and Louise Lathan.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Chester County conducted by Rev. Jimmy Dillard and Rev. Larry Parson.

Active pallbearers will be Mark C. Love, Lee McKellar, Eric Brown, Mason Love, Andrew Rollins, Jamie Baldwin and Justin Baldwin.

Helen Rebecca Osborne Medford Pike, age 38, of 623 Hart Street, Union, SC died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Pike was born in Union, SC September 26, 1968, a daughter of James "Ozzie" Osborne and Elease "Sister" Sumner Osborne of Union. She was formerly employed with Waffle House in Greenville and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents are a daughter, Brandy Medford of the home, two sons, Jim Medford of Spartanburg and Keith Pike of the home, a sister, Jamie Osborne of the home, a brother, Johnny Osborne of Irmo, two grandchildren, Keirsten Floyd and Kinslee Floyd and a special friend, Joan Skelton of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, January 5, 2007 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Tommy McManus. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Moore Justice, age 77 of 241 Justice Rd., Buffalo, SC, widow of Franklin B. Justice, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Justice was born in Rutherfordton, NC, March 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Grover Moore and Annie Bright Moore. She was former Co-Owner of Justice Tile and Carpet.

Survivors are a daughter, Jackie Richardson and husband Henry L. of Buffalo, three grandchildren: Jackie Dale Kirkland and husband Shane of Prosperity, SC, Justun Richardson of Buffalo and Jeff Richardson and wife Melinda of Union, two brothers: Jack J. Moore of Union and Ralph L. Moore of New Jersey, four great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters. Mrs. Justice was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Justice, a sister, Polly West and two brothers, Boyce Moore and Grover Moore, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Larry Padgett and Dr. Ted Hodges. Burial will be in Putman Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Justice’s nephews, great-nephews and Richie Barns. The caregivers of Mrs. Justice as asked to sit in a group.

Mr. Harold M. Cope, age 69, husband of Margie Price Cope of 109 Price Place, Union, SC died Friday, January 5, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Cope was born in Union, SC February 3, 1937, a son of the late Lester and Maggie Baker Cope. He was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and retired from Cone Mills and Union County school system.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Mark Cope of the home, a daughter Lisa Cope Ballard and husband Ron of Woodruff, SC, a granddaughter, Kayla Rochester of the home, a grandson reared in the home Bradley Rochester and wife Chasity of Union, a step grandson; Matthew Ballard, a step granddaughter; Christie Sellars and husband Duane all of Woodruff, five great grand children; Noah and Christian Rochester, Brianna, Damian and Brandon Sellars, a sister Ruby Winningham of Jedburg, SC. And a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Cope was predeceased by two sisters; Peggy Burbage and Mary Silvers, and three brothers; Paul Cope, Henry Cope, and John Cope.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Monday, January 8, 2007 at Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mary Lou Moore

Mrs. Mary Lou Moore, age 55 of 1201 Old Buncombe Rd, Union died Friday, January 5, 2007 at her home.

Mrs. Moore was born in Union, SC July 28, 1951, a daughter of Joe Anne Holladaye White of Union and the late Albert White. Mrs. Moore was formerly married to Hugh Moore.

Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters; Shannon Moore Wells, and Sharon Moore both of Union, a son; Eugene Moore of Birmingham AL, a sister; Patricia Hood and husband Raymond of Gaffney, SC, a brother; Tommy White of Union, a grandson; Matthew Henderson, a granddaughter Michaela Bolding both reared in the home, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel.

The family will receive friends Monday night at the home of her mother Joe Anne White, 1203 Old Buncombe Rd. Union, SC.

Jesse Carmel Bryan (J.C.)
Union, SC

Jesse Carmel Bryan (J.C.),72, of 208 Catawba Street , Union, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle went home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 6,2007.

Mr. Bryan was born in Lockhart, SC March 8,1934, a son of the late Jesse C. Bryan, Sr. and Amanda Meadows Bryan. Surviving in addition to his wife, Gladys Hyler Bryan, is a son J. Chris Bryan and wife Donna Rivers Bryan of Kennesaw, Ga and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jordan and Carrie. Also surviving is a sister, Laverne Bryan, of Lockhart, and a brother Earl and wife Martha of Union and a number of nieces and nephews and special friend Ms. Marlene Proctor. Mr. Bryan was predeceased by a sister; Ruth Bryan.

Mr. Bryan was an active member of Union First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon, was a member of the Chancel Choir and served in various other leadership positions. His Christian service also included helping lead Lay Renewal weekends as well as serving with his wife as Mission Corps consultants with the North American Mission Board for a period of time. He was actively involved in the organization of the multi-housing ministry of the Union County Baptist Association and was a weekly participant and leader in the services, Bible clubs and special missions events.

Mr. Bryan was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was retired from the Gaffney office of the S.C. Vocational Rehabilitation Dept. He previously taught at Union High School Vocational Department.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 2007 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, Union and will be conducted by Rev. Robert Emory, Rev. Dr.Chris Bryan and Rev. Dr. Paul Noe. Burial will held in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday evening January 7th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.

Present and past deacons of First Baptist Church are asked to sercve as honorary pallbearers.

Nancy Bishop Stevens
Union, SC

Mrs. Nancy Bishop Stevens, age 91, of 4226 Cross Keys Hwy. Union widow of Joe T. Stevens died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Stevens was born in Union March 6, 1915 a daughter of the late Jordan Fant Bishop and Martha Cornelia Foster Bishop. She was a graduate of Union High School, a member of Padgetts Creek Baptist Church, and retired from Cooper Furniture Company as a bookkeeper. After retirement she worked part-time at Prince’s Grocery. Mrs. Stevens was first married to the late Herman Bishop who died in 1969.

Surviving are; a son, Holmes P. Bishop and wife Helen of Buffalo SC, two grandchildren; Robin Huff and husband Gregory of Clemmons, NC, and Jill S. Bishop of Buffalo, two great grandchildren; Jackson and Annie Huff. Mrs. Stevens was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She predeceased by seven brothers and two sisters.

Graveside service will held Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Joe Smith, and the Rev. Tim Anderson.

The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church.

Virginia Sharon Lawson Taylor Harris, age 50 went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2007. Sharon was the beloved daughter of L. Chester Lawson and Carolyn Wages Lawson.

Surviving in addition to her parents are three daughters: Heather Nicole Taylor, Virginia Danielle Harris and Jessica Lauren Harris, three sons: John Anthony Taylor, Jason Matthew Taylor and wife Jessica and Joseph Bryan Harris, a sister, Pat Haney and husband Joey, a brother, Dr. Louie C. Lawson, three grandchildren: Jacob Anthony Taylor, Abby and Noah Voiselle, three nieces, Caroline Haney, Haley and Sydney Lawson and two nephews, Jesse Haney and Cole Lawson. Sharon was predeceased by an infant daughter, Sharon Danielle Harris, maternal grandparents, Cole B. and Margaret H. Wages and paternal grandparents, Robert E. and Jessie Cathcart Lawson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 11, 2007 at West Springs Baptist Church, 4811 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy, West Springs Community, Pauline, SC. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family is at the home of her sister and parents, 1400 Block Mudbridge Rd., Buffalo, SC.

Oma R. "Nell" Brown
Formerly of Union

Mrs. Oma R. "Nell" Wilson Brown, age 88, widow of Grady H. Brown, formerly of Union, SC died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Hot Springs Hospital in Arkansas.

Mrs. Brown was born in Jackson County, Georgia August 31, 1918, a daughter of the late J. W. Wilson and Annie Owens Wilson. She retired from Conso Products and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors are a daughter, Vera Liles and husband Tom of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, a son, Jack A. Brown and wife Deborah of Union, four grandchildren: Carolyn Robinson, Barbara Jackson, Cindy Liles and Cathy Sweeney, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, two sister-in-laws, Bernice Babbitt and husband Paul of Ellenton, Fl and Estelle Austgen of Mumster, Ind. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by one sister, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, January 12, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill Lark. Burial will be in Cherokee Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Spartanburg, SC.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

John T. "Bud" Conard
Lockhart Community

Mr. John T. "Bud" Conard, age 81, husband of Helen Ruth "Hi Boo" Guinn Conard of 567 Old Union Rd., Union, SC died Monday, January 8, 1007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Conard was born in Lockhart, SC November 16, 1925, a son of the late John T. Conard and Virgie Black Conard. He graduated Lockhart High School and worked for many years with Lockhart Power Company. He retired from City of Union, Utilities Department and later worked with Deaton Gas Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockhart and was the longest standing member of the Lockhart Masonic Lodge. Mr. Conard was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Irene C. Lee of Lockhart, a brother, Charles D. Conard of Union, a number of nieces and nephews and two special friends and caregivers, Sarah Ann Franklin of Lockhart and Ginger McKnight of Union.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Alan Quarles. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Miss Kathryn Virginia Baber, age 81, of 1817 Jonesville Hwy., Union, SC died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Miss Baber was born in Union, SC December 19, 1925, a daughter of the late John William Baber and Atlie Vanderford Baber. She was a member of the Union Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

Survivors are three sisters: Sheryl Lowe of Union, Patricia Gibson of Lockhart and Judy Kerr and husband Ronnie of Jonesville, a brother Wayne Baber and wife Barbara of Union and two special cousins, Betty Bates and Frances Goodwin. Miss Baber was a loving aunt to seventeen nieces and nephews and seven great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2007 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Minister Curtis Gilbert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Miss Baber’s nephews, Jesse Ham and Gary Ham.

Memorials may be made to the Union County Humane Society, 218 N. Pinckney Street, Union, SC 29379.

The family will be at the home of her sister, Sheryl Lowe, 106 Bennett Street, Union, SC where the family will receive friends Thursday night.

Bobby Shelton Mangum, Sr.
Union, SC

Mr. Bobby Shelton Mangum, Sr., age 71, of 401 West Hillcrest Avenue, Union, SC, widower of Bobbie Jean Lineberry Mangum died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mangum was born in Greenville, SC August 1, 1935, a son of the late Johnnie Hildreth Mangum and Theola Murphy Mangum. He retired from Carlisle Finishing Plant, was a member Tabernacle Baptist Church, a member of the Machine Printers and Engraving Association, a member of Union Masonic Lodge #75, Union Shrine Club and a lifetime member of Union Elks Club.

Survivors are two daughters, Jennifer West and husband Larry of West Springs and Julie Jones and husband Stephen of Union, two sons, Dwight Mangum of Forest City, NC and Chris Mangum of Union, two sisters, Sadie Faye Lucas of West Columbia and Margaret Brinson of Wilmington, NC, a brother, Lewis Mangum of Manassass, Va., seven grandchildren: Shelley W. Harris and husband Adam, Tyler West, Whitney Jones, Erika Song and husband Kang, Melissa Mangum, Kristina Martin and huband Joey and James Mangum, five great-grandchildren, Makenzie Mangum, Cole Silavong, Ethan Song, Ashtyn Song and Bobby Martin. Mr. Mangum was predeceased by a son, Bobby S. Mangum, Jr., a sister, Dorothy Tickle, two brothers, Billy Mangum and Reuben Mangum.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2007 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Palmer. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.

Mr. Albert D. McWhite, age 78, husband of Sadie Greer Nichols McWhite of 401 Glendale Rd., Union, SC died Wednesday afternoon January 10, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. McWhite was born in Greenville, SC August 27, 1928, a son of the late Cullen Benton McWhite and Camily Ward McWhite. He attended Greenville County Schools, was a member of West Gantt First Baptist Church of Greenville and retired from Honeywell, Inc. He was first married to the late Lillian Duncan McWhite. He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of World War II.

McWhite and his wife Mildred of Greenville, a sister-in-law, Dot McWhite of Slater, SC and a brother-in-law Dee Welborn of Mauldin, two step-sons: Harry "Billy" Nichols and his wife Tracy of Spartanburg and Joe Nichols and his wife Pat of Union, four step-grandchildren: Tara Callahan, Nick Nichols, Jenny Nichols and Joey Nichols and two step-great-grandchildren, Jacob Callahan and Seth Callahan. Mr. Kenneth Glen "Peanut" Cutshaw, age 39 of 137 Elford Grove Rd., Jonesville, SC died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Cutshaw was born in Greeneville, TN May 21, 1967, a son of Jacqueline Petty Cutshaw of the home and the late Glen H. Cutshaw. He was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church and attended Manna Baptist Church in Spartanburg.

Surviving in addition to his mother are: two daughters, Brooke Rogers of Woodruff and Destiny Cutshaw of Spartanburg, a son, Justin Rogers of Woodruff, two sisters: Kit C. Mossburg of Chesnee and Kim Cutshaw of Jonesville, a grandson, Zane Roberts of Jonesville, a niece, Hannah Cutshaw of Jonesville and a nephew Christopher Turner of Pacolet. Mr. Cutshaw was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Lee and Vera Petty, paternal grandparents, Erskine and Susie Cutshaw.

Mrs. Eubanks was born in Enoree, March 31, 1913, a daughter of the late Mangus and Lillie Green Turner. She was formerly employed as a nurses aid with Wallace Thomson Hospital and was a member of Putman Baptist Church.

Mrs. Eubanks was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mr. Harry Lawrence Yogman, age 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, following a lengthy illness at Menorah Manor in St. Pettersburg. He lived here for the past three years.

Mr. Yogman was a retired Certified Public Accountant and former controller of John Dritz and Sons, Inc. of Spartanburg, SC upon his arrival in that city in 1960. He earned his accounting degree from City College of New York, going to night school for eight years.

Born in Boyonne, NJ, he spent much of his early years living, working and raising his family in New York before moving to Spartanburg in 1960.

He is survivied by his wife of 66 years, Pauline, of St. Petersburg, and children: son, Ron Yogman of St. Petersburn, FL; and daughters: Ellen Price of Springfield, VA and Shelley Weitzner of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jann Yogman, New York; Kim Erlichson, Milburn, NJ; Kevin Price, Pinehurst, NC; Kandice Yogman, St. Petersburn; Elyssa Price, Springfield, VA and Benjamin and Katie Weitzner of Tucson, AZ; and one great-grandchild, Amy of Milburn, NJ.

Interment will be 1:00 PM Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at the Greenlawn Memorial Park in Spartanburg, SC, with Rabbi Yossi J. Liebowitz of Temple B’nai Israel officiating.

Mr. Howell was born in Lockhart, SC July 15, 1927, a son of the late Raymond C. Howell and Sadie Dabbs Howell. He graduated Lockhart High School and retired as an insurance agent with Jefferson-Pilot Life Insurance Company. Mr. Howell was a member of Philippi Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director, Training Union Director and was a member of the Joy Club. Mr. Howell was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II.

Mr. Kirby was born in Pacolet, SC March 18, 1918, a son of the late W.T. Kirby and Pearl Eubanks Kirby. He retired from Kohler Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Pacolet. Mr. Kirby was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII with the 3rd Division 7th Infantry and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Kathy Shuller and husband Ernie of Darlington, SC, two grandchildren, Andy Shuller of Washington, DC and Katie Shuller of Myrtle Beach, SC, a sister, Lois K. Ms. Reebenaker is survived by her dear friend, Ricky Boulware with whom she made her home, a daughter, Tonya Boulware and friend Bruce Magner of Union, a son Keith Ramsey and wife Jennifer, two sisters, Ethel Hammett of Pacolet and Rebecca Davis of Union, five brothers: Coleman Carroll of Union, Thomas Carroll of Inman, Steve Carroll of Spartanburg, Frank "Pete" Carroll of Statesville, NC and Michael Carroll of Pacolet, three grandchildren, Kandace Boulware, Kanden Boulware, Keith Ramsey, III and one on the way, a special friend, Shirley Sherbert of Enoree and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Martin was born in Fresno, CA September 2, 1961, a son of the late Garland Martin, Sr. and Minnie Bernice Reynolds Martin. He was employed with Martin House for twenty-five years and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Martin was formerly married to Sherry Howard Martin.

Survivors are: two daughters: Stephanie Martin and April Martin, a son, Michael Martin and wife Andre all of Healdton, OK, three sisters: Minnie Jo Bardin of Tahlequah, Sheril Poage of Witchitaw, Tx and Bertha Perkins of Ringling, OK, four brothers: A.C. Martin of Union, Clinton Martin of Ringling, OK, Jonathan Lewis Martin of Quinton, OK and Vernon Martin, of Ringling, OK, one grandchild, Dane Landen Martin and his girlfriend, Sheila Caughman. Mr. Martin was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers: Brenda Joan Martin, Roxy Carline Gregg, Garland Eldon Martin, Cecil Lynn Martin and Billy Alex Martin.

Mr. Robinson was born in Union County September 16, 1931, a son of the late A. R. Robinson and Bessie Blanton Robinson. He was a retired mechanic having worked with Spartan Leasing, Forklifts Unlimited, both Spartanburg and Wrenn of Greenville. He was a veteran of US Army Korean Conflict and a member of Gilead Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son; Mike Robinson and wife Sheryl of Mt. Sterling, KY, a daughter; Regina Martin and husband Dean of Spartanburg, a brother; Ray Robinson of Pacolet, and a sister; Ruth Gossett of Jonesville, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Roark was born in Union, SC, August 25, 1934, a son of the late Leonard Roark, Sr. and Lucille Vinson Roark. He retired from United Merchants & Mfg. - Union Plant after forty-two years. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, a Mason and an avid fisherman, racing fan and guitarist.

Mrs. Jones was born in Union, SC May 19, 1922, a daughter of the late John C. Pettit and Estelle Johns Pettit. She graduated from Union High School and retired from Ford Motor Co.-Detroit MI. Mrs. Jones was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood.

Mrs. Jones was the beloved mother of Norma Olsen of the home. Also surviving are a brother, Robert Pettit and wife Mary and a sister-in-law, Mary L. Pettit all of Union, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Kathleen Barrow Pegram
Formerly of Carlisle

Mrs. Kathleen Barrow Pegram, age 85, widow of Hubert L. Pegram, Sr., formerly of Carlisle died Monday, January 29, 2007 at Inman Health Care, Inman, SC.

Mrs. Pegram was born in Kernersville, NC November 3, 1921, a daughter of the late John Hartsel Barrow and Sadie McGee Barrow. She graduated Kernersville High School and retired from Cone Mill-Carlisle Finishing Plant and was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four sons: Hubert L. Pegram, Jr. of Austell, Ga, Kenneth G. Pegram of Concord, NC, William H. Pegram of Sanford, FL and Gary A. Pegram of Buffalo, SC, three sisters: Margaret Apple, Melba Richardson and Brenda Collins all of Kernersville, NC and a brother, Harlan Barrow of Kernersville, six grandchildren: Jeffrey Pegram, Jennifer Shetley, Leslie Pridemore, Heather Price, Gregg Pegram and Sarah Pegram, nine great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Price, Copper Price, Alex Pridemore, Cassidy Pridemore, Kayla Pegram, Matthew Pegram, Kelly Grace Pegram, Sarah Evans Shetley and Lilly Frances Shetley.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Kelly Gilmore.

Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Pegram’s grandsons. The following care givers are asked to sit in a group: Barbara Johnson, Manervia Rice, Elizabeth Gist, Virginia Gardener, Melinda Davis and LaVerne Willard.

The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM Tuesday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home and also 10:15-11:00 AM Wednesday morning prior to the service at the chapel.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday at Bethel United Methodist Church, Oakridge, NC conducted by Rev. Daniel V. Miller. Burial will be in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Oakridge, NC.

Larence Calvin "Larry" Dobbs
Formerly of Union

Mr. Larence Calvin "Larry" Dobbs, age 44, formerly of Union, husband of Myra Latham Dobbs of 112 Oak Drive, Greer, SC died Monday, January 29, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Dobbs was born in Orlando, FL September 3, 1962, a son of Polly Dobbs Haney of Union and was employed with Hayssen in Duncan. Mr. Dobbs was a member of Pebble Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother is a daughter, Marian Hope Dobbs of the home.

Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at Pebble Creek Baptist Church in Greenville, SC conducted by Rev. Chuck Leonard.
