Paul E. Jolly, Sr.
Union, SC

Mr. Paul E. Jolly, Sr age 80, husband of Vivian Hyder Jolly of 1526 Whitmire Hwy., Union, SC died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Jolly was born in Union, SC March 23, 1927, a son of the late Paul "Pete" Jolly and Sally Greer Jolly. He was a 1943 Graduate of Union High School and attended North Carolina State University and Vanderbuilt University. Mr. Jolly was a current member of New Life Baptist Church where he served as an usher and former Superintendent of Sunday School. He was a former member of Hebron Baptist Church where he held many service positions; Deacon, Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Director of the Boys Junior Class. Mr. Jolly retired from Peelers Dairy after fifteen years of service and later retired from A&P after thirty-one years of service where he served as manager of the Union A&P for many years. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army having served during World War II. Paul loved history and enjoyed collecting history books and newspaper articles. He also enjoyed researching his family history. Paul loved our Lord and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was dearly loved by his family.

Survivng in addition to his wife are two daughters: Janet Brown and husband Dean and Jerri Thompson and husband Keith; a son, Eddie Jolly and wife Jill; five grandchildren: Andrea Davis and husband Corey, Lori Elder and husband Jeff, Blake Thompson, Sally Margaret Jolly and Collin Paul Jolly; two great-grandchildren: Cole Davis and Bailey Davis. Mr. Jolly was predeceased by a great-grandson, Hayden Elder.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2007 at New Life Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Hyder, Robin Owings, Jeff Elder, Don Hyder, Ralph Owings and Corey Davis.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Saturday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Roy Arnold Cornelison, Sr.
Union, SC

Mr. Roy Arnold Cornelison, Sr, age 74, husband of Marie Queen Cornelison of 2841 Santuc-Carlisle Hwy., Union, SC died Friday, November 2, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Cornelison was born in Carbon Hill, Al, October 22, 1933, a son of the late Earl D. Cornelison and Vera Haynes Gurganus. He retired from Cone Mills and was a member of Salem Baptist Church were he served as a Deacon of the church and other various committees. Mr. Cornelison was a member of the Union York Rite Bodies; the Scottish York Rite and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Roy was a loving husband for fifty-five years, a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife Marie are two daughters: Wanda C. Keith and husband David of Union and Terry Cornelison and finance Michael Payton of Woodruff; a son, Roy Cornelison, Jr and wife Jean of Union; two sisters: Shelby Jean Tune of Jasper, AL and Linda Collett of Brandon, FL; two brothers: Paul K. Cornelison and wife Shirley of Beebe, AR and Robert Cornelison and wife Velma of Tamps, FL; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cornelison was predeceased by a sister, Louise Atkins.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 5, 2007 at Salem Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Wayne Cook, Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Ray Harold Belue. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Masons will serve as active pallbearers and deacons and former deacons of Salem Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Sunday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Ruby W. Gregory
Chester, SC

Mrs. Ruby Beatrice Wilson Gregory age 94, widow of Johnnie H. Gregory formally of the Adamsburg community, Union died Friday, November 2, 2007 at Chester County Nursing Center.

Mrs. Gregory was born in Lockhart, SC on November 29, 1912 a daughter of the late Jesse Wilson and Harriett Vanderford Wilson. She was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Gregory is survived by three daughters; Edna G. Black of Union, Frances Guynita Flenniken and Juanita Wilson both of Chester, SC.; one son Joe West of Union, SC. ; Seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was pre-deceased by her daughter: Barbara Yarbrough and a grand son Jonathan Yarbrough.

Funeral Services will held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 4, 2007 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Bill Vanderford and Rev. Curtis Marshall. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Butch Carter, Jerry McDonald, Ronald Byers, Ronnie Lamb, Mike Smith, and Freddie Crawford.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home from 1:00 PM till 3:00 PM prior to the service.

Richard F. Lewis, Sr.
Clinton, SC

Mr. Richard F. Lewis, Sr. age 73, husband of Virginia Lell Lewis of 2664 Stomp Spring Rd. Clinton, SC., died Friday, November 2, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Lewis was born in Whitmire, SC. on February 13, 1934 a son of the late Oscar Lewis and Ora Thrift Lewis. He was retired from Clinton Mill and a veteran of the US Army and a former National Guard Member.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters: Gladys L Blair of Whitmire, SC., Debra Roberts of Pelzer, SC, and Patricia Lell of Honeypath, SC.; Four sons: Danny Lewis, and Hayward Young, Jr. Both of Clinton, SC., Daniel Lewis of Iva, SC., Vince Lell of Atlanta, GA., two sisters: Elsie Mayvell of TX. and Viola Boyders of Waterlo, SC.; twenty-five grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a daughter Roselee Roeker, and a son Richard F Lewis, Jr.

Graveside Services will held 3:00 PM Monday, November 5, 2007 at Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton SC. Conducted by the Rev. Herbert Codington.

Visitation will be held at the home, Sunday afternoon.

Lois Elizabeth Fisher
Buffalo, SC.

Mrs. Lois Elizabeth Fisher, age 90 of 175 Pine Street, Buffalo, SC, widow of Rev. Ernest Howard Fisher,Sr. went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 3, 2007 after a sudden illness.

Mrs. Fisher was born in Asheville, NC, July 31, 1917, a daughter of the late Edgar Lee Ingle and Agnes Kingsmore Ingle. She retired from United Merchants- Buffalo Plant, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Whitmire. Mrs. Fisher was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and friend to all!

Survivors are four daughters: Joan Latham and husband, the late Melvin Latham of Buffalo, Madge Billings and husband Robbie of Wellford, Kimberly Gerdler and husband Michael and Cindy Fisher all of the home; five sons: Clint Fisher and wife Sherry of Union, Ernest Howard "Buddy" Fisher of Enoree, Charles Fisher and wife Gwendolyn, Darrell Fisher, Terry Fisher and wife Joy all of Buffalo; a son-in-law: J.L. Jackson of Buffalo; 22 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 28 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Fisher was predeceased by a daughter, Vickie Jackson and a grandson, David Latham.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Monday, November 5, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 until 3:30 PM prior to the service at the funeral chapel.

Catherine West Wright
Former Owner of Shirley’s Flower Shop

Mrs. Catherine Franconia West Wright, age 91, widow of Luther E. Wright, formerly of 212 Glendale Road, Union, SC passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 3:59 AM at Park Place Assisted Living Facility in Spartanburg, SC.

Mrs. Wright was born in Spartanburg County, SC March 21, 1916, a daughter of the late Claude West and Annie Bell Gist West. She was former owner and operator of Shirley’s Flower Shop and a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where she was a member of Mary Lybrand Sunday School Class, The Eugenia Smith Circle and the Merry Methodist. Mrs. Wright was a past President of the South Carolina Florist Association.

Surviving are a daughter, Shirley W. Vaughan and husband Charlie of Union; two granddaughters: Kitty Vaughan and Cindy V. Hulon both of Union; a sister, Virginia W. Adams of Lake Hartwell, SC; a brother, Herbert West of Bamburg, SC and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wright was predeceased by a sister, Mabel W. Fowler.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2007 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Tommy Bailey. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Pat Mitros, Ashely Mitros, Jim Stepp, Franklin Pridemore, Don Cohen and Mickey Gist. Dupre Bogan
West Springs Community

Mr. William Dupre Bogan, age 91, husband of Mabel Greer Bogan of 125 Furman Drive, Jonesville, SC died Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at his home after an extended illness.

Mr. Bogan was born in West Springs, SC April 21, 1916, a son of the late Furman Bogan, Sr and Annie Mary Gowan Bogan. He was a graduate of West Springs High School and retired from Graham Cash Company in Union. Mr. Bogan was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church where he served as Church Treasurer for forty years. He was a member of Woodman of the World and he served on the ASCS Committee and was an avid farmer.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Judy B. Fowler and husband Harold; a son, Johnny Bogan and wife Agnes all of West Springs Community; two sisters, Ruth Willard of Union and Theo B. "Tweet" Hill of West Springs; five grandchildren: Amelia Hart, Andy Bogan, Kristin McDowell, CPT. Darren Fowler and CPT David Fowler and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Bogan was predeceased by a sister, Leila Hill and a brother, Furman Bogan, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, November 9, 2007 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Peterson and Dr. Joe Wilson Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Andy Bogan, Harold Fowler, Frank Hart, Eddie McDowell, Alvin Earnhardt and Rodney Bogan. Grady L. O’Dell
Buffalo, SC

Mr. Grady Lowell O’Dell, age 74, husband of Zora Wright O’Dell, of 2118 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, died Wednesday November 7, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. O’Dell was born in Union, June 1, 1933, a son of the late P.B. O’Dell and Buena Mitchell O’Dell. He was a graduate of Union High School and Wofford College. Mr. O’Dell retired after 40 + years with Milliken Co., Excelsior Plant and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean Conflict and retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was an active member of the American Legion, Buffalo Post where he served as Adjutant since 1987.

Mr. O’Dell was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where he served a term as Chairman of the Administrative Board, the Financial Secretary, a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the Chancel Choir and the Men’s Choir. He found great joy in giving out the fruit bags on Christmas Eve.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Robynne O. Burress and husband Steve of Spartanburg and Rhonda O. Smith and husband Sammy of Union; one son: Richard Lowell O’Dell and wife Debra of Buffalo; one sister: Coletta Fowler of Inman; two brothers: Rev. Donald O’Dell of Spartanburg and Maurice O’Dell of Raleigh, NC; 6 grandchildren: Cody O’Dell, Megan O’Dell, Holly Walker and husband Chad, Trey Smith, Blake Burress and David Burress. Mr. O’Dell was predeceased by a brother: W.D. O’Dell and a sister: Valerie Lybrand.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 10, 2007 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kevin Dalton and Rev. Donald O’Dell. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Trey Smith, Cody O’Dell, Blake Burress, David Burress, Anthony Brock, Kevin Brock, Danny Marvin, Darrell Fowler and Jake Boulware.

Mr. Billy Lee Register, age 71, of 1300 West Main St., Union, died at his home Thursday, November 8, 2007.

Mr. Register was born in Hendersonville, SC, a son of the late Euel Earl Register and Hallie Virginia Capers Register. He was a retired employee of the Pantry Shelf in Union and was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.

Surviving are his beloved companion, Gracie Adams of the home; one daughter: Lynn Sligh and husband Barry of Columbia; one son: Gary Register of Columbia; a step-daughter: Pam Adams of West Springs; a step-son: Sam Adams and fiancée Teresa Jones both of Newton, NC; a brother: Wayne Register of Walterboro; a sister: Alice Zygadlo of Walterboro and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the chapel.

Mr. Jackie Lynn Cannon, Sr., age 50, of 251 Old English Rd., Union, fiancée of Shirley Dorsey, died suddenly Sunday, November 11, 2007 at his home.

Mr. Cannon was born in Union, SC. December 7, 1956 a son of the late Violet Quinn Bailey and Claude J. Cannon. He retired from Carlisle finishing after 27 years and is of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are a daughter, Christie Wilburn and husband Timmy of Jonesville, two sons: Jackie Lynn Cannon, Jr. and Danny Cannon and wife, Tammy all of Union; a step-daughter Wakina L. Kirby of Union; four grandchildren: Timothy Lee Wilburn, Joshua Kyle Wilburn both of Jonesville; Cheyenne Alexis Kirby and Adam Chase Kirby both of Union; a brother Lindsey Cannon and wife Debra of Union, and his step-father, Norman Bailey of Union.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at S.R.Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will be a Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Josie Lee Vinson age 89, widow of Ernest Thomas Vinson, Sr., of 117 Red Rd., Lockhart Community, Union, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the home of her daughter.

Mrs. Vinson was born in Union, August 8, 1918, a daughter of the late John Irby Spillers and Florence Coleen Coleman Spillers. She was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are five daughters: Pat Nault of Nevada, Betty Kelly and husband Eddie of Union, Frances Ansley and husband Joe of Georgia, Becky McAbee and husband A.C. of Union, and Kathy Henderson and husband Len of Lockhart; three sons: Bobby Vinson and wife Kathy of Buffalo, Larry Vinson and wife Teresa of Georgia, and J.T. Vinson and wife Kathy of Lockhart; one sister: Nina Cook of Buffalo; an adopted daughter: Sally Horne of Lockhart and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vinson was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Gayle Vinson, three sons: Robert Dale Vinson, Lewis Vinson and Ernest Vinson, Jr., two sisters: Emma Ruth Grady, and Mabel Hutcherson, and a brother, John Irby Spillers.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 Pm Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Lockhart Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Bishop, Dr. Tommy Bryson, Rev. Roger Byrd and Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Isaiah Maddox Fallen, infant son of Heather Adams and Donald Fallen of 121 Barnado Rd., Apt. 15, Union, SC died Sunday at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers: Logan Adams and Tanner Fallen both of the home; his maternal grandparents: Rhonda and Chris Keisler of Union and Jason and Jolie Deaton of Spartanburg; his paternal grandparents: Tammy Willard of Union and Donald Kingsmore of Union; great-grandparents: J.T. and Deloris Adams, Delilah and Edward Fallen all of Union and a number of aunts and uncles. Isaiah was predeceased by his great-grandmother, Emily Adams.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Randy Smith.

The family will receive friends at the home, 121 Barnado Rd. Apt 15, Union, SC, 29379 Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Raymond Townsend

Mr. Raymond Townsend age 73, formerly of Lockhart, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill after a sudden illness

Mr. Townsend was born in Union, July 25, 1934 a son of the late William and Edna Revis Townsend. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and was previously employed with Milliken Co., Lockhart Plant. Mr. Townsend was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters: Sherry Whitaker and husband Brad of Charlotte, and Terri Morrison and husband Robert of Richburg; one son: Joey Townsend and wife Lynn of Chester; seven grandchildren: Jason Townsend and wife Amanda, Brandi Brown and husband David, Jonathan Brunet and wife Allison, Chris Martin, April Gibson and husband Damon and Hope Wilbanks; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Townsend was predeceased by two brothers, Matthew Townsend and Bobby Townsend, and a sister, Katherine Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday November 16, 2007 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Paul Childers. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Morrison, Damon Gibson, Jonathan Brunet, David Brown, Luke Jenkins, Darrell Gault and Dean Garner.

Mr. Terry L. Eubanks, age 59, husband of Jennifer Brown Eubanks of 101 Church Ave., Union, died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Eubanks was born in Union, June 2, 1948, a son of the late Eugene and Mary Hutcherson Eubanks. He was formerly employed with Greenwood Mills in Joanna and was a member of First United Pentecostal Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Tanya Murphy and husband James of the home and Jacqueline Kirby of Columbia; a son: Terry Eugene Eubanks of LA; four sisters: Barbara Vaughan and husband Gerald, Virginia Blackmon and husband Buddy, Faye Eubanks and Joyce Byrd all of Union; eight grandchildren: Jessica Mosley and husband David, Jonathan Kirby, Victoria Parker, Courtney Smith, Thomas Murphy, Walt Eubanks, Rebecca Murphy, Landon Anderson; one great-granddaughter: Jetta Mosley; three special grandchildren: Megan, Frank, and Jessica Toney, children of Rolph and Vickey Toney. Mr. Eubanks was predeceased by a brother: Bruce Eubanks.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the S.R. Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Timothy Bowers. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Horace Childers, age 88, of 2748 Lake Rd., Lake Wateree Community, Ridgeway, SC, formally of the Lockhart Community, died Sunday, November 18, 2007. He was the widower of Marguerite Deal Childers.

Mr. Childers was born in Union County November 21, 1918, a son of the late Oliver Childers and Melvina Millwood Childers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was retired from Hermitage Mill in Camden and previously was employed by Milliken Co. Lockhart Plant. He was a member of the Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter Betty Jo Catoe and husband Charles, with whom he made his home; 4 grandchildren, Joey Dodds of the home, Sheri Patton and Christi Stover of Columbia, SC, and Pamela Catoe of Blythewood, SC; 6 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grand son, Gerald Lyn Dodds.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. at the Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Brian Bishop and Rev. Paul Childers. Burial will follow in the Lockhart Cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be; Randy Ashe, "Trey" Thomas Nash III, Randy Childers, Brian Childers, Toby Dale Childers, and John Seabrooke. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of the Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Monday Nov. 19, 2007 from 6:00 til 8:00 P.M. at the S. R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mr. Robert Edward Wilburn, age 75, husband of Delores Kirksey Wilburn of Charlotte, NC died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Mecklenburg Health Care Center, Charlotte, NC.

Mr. Wilburn was born in Union, SC May 18, 1932, a son of the late Bertis Johnson and Charles Manley Wilburn, Sr. He was a 1952 graduate of Union High School and a 1956 graduate of Wofford College with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Wilburn worked at CommercialCredit in Charleston and Orangeburg, SC. He retired from Singer Sewing Machine Company as an auditor and later worked in Commercial Real Estate in Charlotte. Mr. Wilburn was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church in Charlotte.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Ruby Wilburn Cook and husband Lee H. of Greenville, SC; a brother, Jack Thomas Wilburn and wife Nancy of Union; a brother, Charles Manley Wilburn, Jr and wife Jo Ellen of Tucker, Ga; a step-daughter, Tricia Hargett Dean and husband Curt of Greensboro, NC; three step-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, November 23, 2007 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, Union, SC conducted by Rev. Curt Dean. Visitation will follow the committal service. A Memorial Service will be held 1:30 PM Friday at the First Baptist Church, 301 S. Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 conducted by Rev. Curt Dean and Rev. Michael Cummings. The family will receive friends following the Memorial Service at the church.

Union - Jack Wilkins Rogers, infant son of Brandon K. And Jennifer Wilkins Rogers, born and died November 19, 2007 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Surviving besides his parents are two sisters, Rebekah and Rachel Rogers of the home; maternal grandparents, Hope and Roger Turner of Buffalo and Jack Wayne Wilkins of Blacksburg; paternal grandparents, Susan and Mike Millwood of Union and Keith Rogers of Spartanburg; maternal great-grandparents, Betty Mahaffey of union, Martha Sherfield of Buffalo, and Wayne and Juanita Turner of Buffalo; paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Marion Millwood of Union.

Graveside Services were held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Putman Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess.

Mr. Charles Wayne "Pumpkin" Roberts, age 56 of 325 Fairview St., Jonesville, died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at Mary Black Hospital.

Mr. Roberts was born in Lockhart, April 11, 1951, a son of the late Charles and JoAnn Lipsey Roberts. He was formerly employed by Kohler Co. and was a member of the Jonesville Church of God.

Surviving are one son: Kenneth Floyd of Union; two sisters: Donna Knox with whom he made his home and Joyce Cooper of Jonesville; one brother: Tim Roberts of Jonesville. a special uncle: Tommy Lipsey; special friends: Mr. and Mrs. Randall Morgan, Mr. Bill Baker, and Ms. Ann Lipsey; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Roberts was predeceased by a sister: Tammy Roberts and two brothers: Mack Roberts and Verlin Roberts.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel conducted by Rev. Roger Byrd. Burial will be in Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family request that all who attend come in casual dress.

Mr. Thomas Bruce Lancaster, Sr., age 78, husband of Ann Treadway Lancaster of 312 S. Boyce St., Union, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lancaster was born in Buffalo, December 18, 1928, a son of Eloise Gist Lancaster of Buffalo and the late Freddie M. Lancaster. He was retired from Milliken Co., Excelsior Plant and was owner, along with his wife, of Lancaster’s Big Oak Bar-B-Que. Mr. Lancaster was a former member of the S.C. National Guard, Union Unit and was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Frieda Fuller Sunday School Class.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are one daughter: Betty Lancaster Roark and husband Steve of Buffalo; two sons: Tommy Lancaster, Jr. and wife Audrey of Buffalo and Michael Lancaster and wife Cathy of Greensboro, NC; one brother: Randolph Lancaster and wife Mary Jo of Buffalo; 4 grandchildren: Tara Roark Harris and fiancee David Shetley of Buffalo, Adam Roark of Spartanburg, Brandy Bennett and husband Blake of Spartanburg and Cameron Lancaster of Greensboro, NC; and 6 great-grandchildren: Polly Harris, Mahlon Harris, Gavin Bennett, Grant Shetley, Jarrod Shetley and Whitney Shetley. Mr. Lancaster was predceased by a brother: Billy Lancaster.

Ms. Alverson was born in Monarch community of Union, SC February 28, 1922, a daughter of the late Talmadge Dewitt Smith, Sr. and Emma Nichols Smith. She retired from Wallace Thomson Hospital and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Felicia P. Bennett and husband Jim of Lexington; a sister, Jenny Liner of Union; two brothers: Talmadge Dewitt Smith, Jr. and wife Jean of Greenville and J. Harold Smith and wife Margaret of Carlisle; a step-granddaughter Melissa Hendricks and husband Brad of Columbia, two special nieces: Anne L. Rampey and husband John and Jane L. Petty and husband Dewey all of Union and another niece, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Mrs. Coy Mae Sutherland Moss age 95, formerly of Deepwater Rd., Union, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the Brookside Living Center in Anderson after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Moss was born in Pickens, May 7, 1912, a daughter of the late George W. and Martha Cantrell Sutherland. She retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant and was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church where she was a former member of the Ladies Circle of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Moss was the widow of Andrew Moss, Sr.

Surviving are three sons: Ralph L. Moss, Sr. and wife Shirley of Union, Lowell Moss of Anderson and Andrew Moss, Jr. and wife Mickie of Inman; one sister: Leotta Tollison of Greenville; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Moss was predeceased by three brothers, George W. Sutherland, Jr., Joseph Sutherland, and Harvey Sutherland; and one sister: Elvie Rigdon.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, Novmeber 30, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Andy Case. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Dunbar, Daniel Vaughan, Ray Vaughan, Chad Blackwood, Christopher West and Christopher McDaniel.

Mr. Littlejohn was born in Spartanburg County, SC October 28, 1926, a son of the late Guess Littlejohn and Ella Foster Littlejohn Puckett. He retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant.

Surviving in addition to his wife of almost sixty-one years are a son, Clifford Littlejohn, Jr and wife Brenda of Buffalo; a granddaughter, Angela Sorrell and husband Jim of Union; a great-granddaughter, Ashley Walls of Union; two brothers: Frank Littlejohn of Buffalo and Roy Littlejohn of Jonesville; four sisters: Florence Puckett of Newberry, Minnie Wix and husband Carl of Jonesville, Ella Mae Barnett and Daisy Ingle both of Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Kevin Dalton and Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. The brother-in-laws of Mr. Littlejohn will serve as active pallbearers.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Alan Quarles.
