James Albert "Jim" Hord

Rev. James Albert " Jim" Hord, age 72, husband of Barbara Parks "Bobbie" Hord, of 1001 West Main St. Union, SC ,went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 3, 2008 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital.

Rev. Hord was born in Kershaw, SC, January 1, 1936, the son of the late Robert Mack Hord and Martha Rubylee Baker Hord.

Rev. Hord received a BA from Asbury College and a Masters of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. A retired pastor and missionary, he served the United Methodist Church as a minister for 10 years. For the next 31 years, Rev. Hord was a missionary for World Gospel Missions, serving in Honduras, Central America. Following retirement, his family settled in Union where he was a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church and the Union County Amateur Radio Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 2 daughters; Amy H. Leonhardt and husband Mike of North Augusta, SC and Lisa H. Layton and husband Jamie of Southbury Ct.; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Hord of Jacksonville, Fla; 6 grandchildren; Jared Leonhardt, Libby Leonhardt, Taryn Layton, Kyle Layton, Mike Hord and Robby Hord. Rev. Hord was pre-deceased by a son, James A. Hord, Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 5, 2008 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church, conducted be Rev. Albert Cox and Rex Miller. Burial with committal services will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 PM, Sunday May 4, 2008.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Chuck Randall "Chucky" Lipsey
Jonesville, SC

Mr. Chuck Randall "Chucky" Lipsey, age 46, husband of Connie Parks Lipsey of 115 Baileytown Rd., Jonesville, SC went home to be with the Lord, Friday May 2, 2008 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Lipsey was born in Union August 14, 1961, a son of the late Herbert T. Lipsey and Dorothy O. Lanier Lipsey Tiner. Mr. Lipsey was a self employed transmission mechanic.

He was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are 3 daughters, Constance Lipsey and Carrie Parks of Union and Tina Lipsey of Florida; 2 sons, Chuck Lipsey, Jr. of Union and Josh Randal Lipsey of Florida; 2 sisters, Debra Atkins of Jonesville and Rose Lipsey of Union; 3 brothers, Herbert T. Lipsey, Jr. of Fort Long, SC John Lipsey and wife Trudy of Union, and Jerry Lipsey of Pauline; his step-father Kenneth Tiner of Pauline, 3 grand children Alanna Dinneen, Michael Dinneen and Lita Lainer all of Union and 12 nieces and nephews. Mr. Lipsey was pre- deceased by a brother Michael Andrew Lipsey and a nephew, Roscoe Lipsey.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM, Monday, May 5, 2008 at Gilead Baptist Church/ Lipsey Cemetery in Jonesville, conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Gladys Kingsmore

Mrs. Gladys Lamb Kingsmore, age 88 of 2470 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, SC, widow of Joseph Paul Kingsmore died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at her home.

Mrs. Kingsmore was born in West Springs, SC January 20, 1920, a daughter of the late Russell Lamb and Lillie Lancaster Lamb. She retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant and was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Sonja Lindholm of the home; a son, Stanley Kingsmore and wife Pat of Moore; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a special friend and caregiver Sonya Lawter. Mrs. Kingsmore was predeceased by a sister, Eulalee Gowan.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Gary Peterson.

Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM Saturday in the church fellowship hall prior to the

service.

Robert J. Reynolds, Sr.
Union, S.C.

Mr. Robert J. Reynolds, Sr. Age 71 of 600 S. Pinckney St., Union, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Reynolds was born in Union, June 10, 1936 a son of the late Oliver Reynold and Lillie Mae Tucker Chapman. He was retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing Plant and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Reynolds was first married to the late Shirley Reynolds. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife Mae Reynolds of Union; three daughters: Clara Robinette and husband Jimmy and Emily Eaddy all of Union; and Debra Leonard and husband John of Liberty, SC; one son: Jimmy Reynolds of Union; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mr. Reynolds was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara R. Harris, a son, John Oliver Reynolds, Sr. and a great-grandson, Christopher Adam Williford.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 11, 1008 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ken Holcombe. Burial will be a Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be David Warren, B.J. Reynolds, Johnny Reynolds, Chad Reynolds, Rocky Taylor and Mikey Judy. Honorary pallbearer will be R.D. Williams.

Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Ann Hinson
Lexington, SC

Miss Ann Page Hinson, age 72, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Heartland of Lexington Nursing Facility.

A native of Santuck, Miss Hinson was born Jan. 18, 1936 a daughter of the late Bernie and Ola Rose Gregory Hinson. She was a longtime resident of the Babcock Center in Batesburg.

She is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are numerous cousins including: Gerald Thomas Gregory Sr. and wife Mary Susan of Union, James Edward Gregory, Jr. and wife Jo Ann of Roebuck, Susan G. Nichols and husband Kevin of Rock Hill, Lisa G. Medlock and husband Edward of Union and Gerald Thomas Gregory, Jr. And wife Hannah of Statesville, NC; special friends and caregivers; Nancy Richardson, Carol and Grady Fuller, and the staff and residence of the Babcock Center in Batesburg.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the Catholic Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Great Falls, SC.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM in the church.

Cherish M.E. Jacobs, infant daughter of Charity Thompson of Pacolet and Ancil Jacobs, died Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

She is also survived by her maternal grandmother: Vickie Turner; her paternal grandmother: Patsy Sawyer; two aunts: Jessica Thompson and Christina Toth; and an uncle; James Turner, Jr.

Graveside service will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens

Joe Luther Ivey

Mr. Joe Luther Ivey, age 95, widower of Sallie Mae Stribling Ivey, formerly of 517 Sardis Road, Union, SC died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at White Oak Manor, Newberry, SC.

Mr. Ivey was born in Union, SC February 13, 1913, a son of the late Charles W. Ivey, Sr and Ettiwese Jolly Ivey. He retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant. Mr. Ivey was the oldest member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was formerly an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

Surviving are a son, Robert J. Ivey and his wife Judy of Prosperity, SC; two sisters: Julia Greer and Martha Shaw both of Union; a granddaughter, Relda Saress Ivey of Texline, TX; a grandson, Robert J. Ivey, Jr of Irmo and three great-grandsons: Scott Ivey, Steven Ivey and Sean Ivey. Mr. Ivey was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers: Ethel Thompson, Mary Cohen, Min-Lou Estes, Jim Ivey and Charles W. Ivey, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Shep Bevis. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Brown Fant, Maurice Bevis, Donald Estes, Michael Cohen, Mark Ayers, Charles W. Ivey, III, David Waller and Stan Jolly. The Men’s Sunday School Class of Tabernacle Baptist Church are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening a the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Lukas "Luke" Tillman Taylor, beloved infant son of Joel and Lindsay Kendrick Taylor became a Lamb of God Sunday, May 11, 2008.

In addition to his loving parents, Luke is survived by his grandparents: Darrell and Vicki Kendrick of the West Springs Community, Ricky and Jeannine McKinney of Jonesville and David and Betty Jo Taylor of Jonesville; great-grandparents: Ethel Taylor, Harold and Muriel Freeman of Jonesville and uncles and aunts: Blake and Anna Kendrick, Jared and Lacy Taylor, Mark and Elizabeth Ireton, Charlie and Kasi Wilson, Craig and Crissy Wilkins and Emmy Lou McKinney. Luke was predeceased by great-grandparents: Herman and Audrey Lawson, Ralph and Thelma Kendrick and Herbert Taylor.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at West Springs Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Joe White and Rev. Blake Kendrick.

Mrs. Mary Frances Clark Hill, age 89 formerly of Bowling Avenue, Union, SC, widow of Robert R. Hill died Monday, May 12, 2008 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Hill was born in Union, SC February 11, 1919, a daughter of the late Jordan Thomas Clark and Edna Spillers Clark. She retired from Excel Hosiery Mill and was formerly employed with Milliken & Co - Excelsior Plant. Mrs. Hill was a life long member of Unity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the adult choir.

Surviving are a sister, Margaret Hines of Union and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. John Cribb.

Visitation will be held immediately following the service at the graveside.

Berry Lee Miller

Berry Lee Miller, age 80, husband of Faye Deal Miller of 118 North 1st Street, Lockhart, SC died Monday, May 12, 2008 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Miller was born in York County, SC June 19, 1927, a son of the late James Samuel Miller and Ora Worley Miller. He is retired textile worker and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Miller was also a Veteran of the US Navy having served during World War II.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Clifton Miller of the home and Bruce Miller and wife Joan of Lockhart; a sister, Bernice Love of Chester; two brothers: Fred Miller of Florida and Phillip Miller of Lockhart; seven grandchildren: Rachelle Keanee and husband Junior, Donna Keanee and husband Jerry, Lee Miller and wife Amanda all of Chester, Brad Miller and wife Amy of TX, Wendy Massey and husband Jody, Tina Fowler and husband Pat all of Lockhart and Beth Miller of Spartanburg and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Mr. Miller was predeceased by a son Don Lee Miller.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Lockhart Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ben Hill and Rev. Brian Bishop.

Mrs. Kathleen Jennings Crompton, age 85, wife of F.A. Crompton of 109 4th Street, Union, SC died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Crompton was born in Union, SC December 16, 1922, a daughter of the late Herman Jennings and Clara Prince Jennings. She retired from Ottaray Mills and was a member of the Union Church of God. Mrs. Crompton was first married to the late Leroy Henderson.

Mrs. Crompton was the beloved sister of Bessie Duncan and husband Raymond of Union, Annie Wages of Jonesville, Betty Jean Hawkins and husband Stan of Union and Billy Jennings and wife Sandra of Pauline. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Crompton was predeceased by a sister and five brothers: Lillie Mae Blalock, Herman Leroy Jennings, Al Jennings, Sr, Ernest Jennings, Jack Jennings, Sr and Albert Jennings.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 16, 2008 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Alton Stone.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mr. James Arthur McFalls, age 69, husband of Eugenia Floyd McFalls of 1371 Pineland Road, Union, SC died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. McFalls was born in Old Fort, NC October 7, 1938, a son of the late Arthur Fisher McFalls and Mary Ruth Knox McFalls. He retired from United Merchants-Buffalo Plant and attendeed New Hope Baptist Church.

Mr. McFalls is survived in addition to his wife by two daughters: Rhonda M. Lee and husband David and Jackie Thompson and husband Keith all of Union; two sons: Micky McFalls and wife Brandy of Jonesville and Ricky McFalls of Buffalo; a sister, Frances Wafful of Hobbs, New Mexico; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. McFalls is predeceased by a son, Ronald Eugene McFalls and a brother, Ervin McFalls.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 17, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky McFalls, Micky McFalls, Neal Lee, Brooks Lee, Matthew Thompson, Brad Thompson, Keith Thompson and David Lee.

Mr. Melvin Harris, age 59 of 534 Kelly Rd. Union, died at his home May 17, 2008.

Mr. Harris was born in Union, SC July 21, 1948, a son of the late Joseph Oscar Harris and Aurin Eaves Harris. He was a graduate of Union High School; a member of the National Guards; and a member of Greater Union Church.

Mr. Harris is survived by a daughter, Melody Jones of Union, SC; a son, Marcus Harris and wife Allison of Lexington, SC; four grandchildren, Taylor Hope Jones, Jacob Jones of Union; Adam Harris and Zachary Harris of Lexington, SC. He was pre-deceased by a son, Denver Joe Harris.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Roger Estes and Dr. John Cody.

Visitation will follow Graveside Services.

Mrs. Addie Jolly O’Dell, age 84 of 3323 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC, widow of Fred H. O’Dell, Jr died Thursday, May 15, 2008 at her home.

Mrs. O’Dell was born in Union, SC April 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Hampton Jolly and Janie Sprouse Jolly. She graduated Union High School; retired from Conso Products Company and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faye Teague Sunday School Class. Mrs. O’Dell was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mrs. O’Dell is survived by a daughter, Joan O’Dell Craig of Mauldin, SC; a son, Ronald Brent O’Dell of Piedmont, SC; four grandchildren: Angela Craig Wilkerson and husband Greg, Susan Craig Fromknecht and husband David, DeAnna O’Dell Blackburn and husband Ed and Ronda O’Dell Edmunds and husband David and five great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn Dell Wilkerson, Lindsay Dell Fromknecht, Elizabeth Grace Blackburn, Bennett Forbes Blackburn, Hope Nell Edmunds and a 6th great-grandchild expected in June.

Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 19, 2008 at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be prior to the service at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM.

Active pallbearers will be Jay Allen, William Jolly, Howard Wells, Donnie Bailey, Mike O’Dell, and Jimmy O’Dell. Honorary pallbearers will be Faye Teague Sunday School Class of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, Ed Crocker, Thomas Alexander, Carl Patrick, Carol Bailey, John Hensley, and Scott Smith.

Mrs. Vivian Smith Trakas, age 81, of 117 Harris Street Union, wife of the late James Trakas died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

A loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Trakas was born in Union, SC August 20, 1926, a daughter of the late Walter Smith and Elsie Leonhardt Smith. She was an active member of Covenant Baptist Church.

Mrs. Trakas is survived by a daughter, Janis T. Belue and her Fiancé Bill Massey of Union; two sons, Jimmy Trakas and wife Ann, and Tony Trakas and wife Betsy all of Union; two granddaughters, Brook Trakas Schelble and husband Joe, and Tiffany Trakas of Columbia; a grandson, Jarod Trakas of Virginia; and step grandson, Derik Vanderford of Columbia; three great-grandsons, Hayden, Noah, and Griffin Schelble of Columbia.; a sister Sandra Smith McDaniel of Tryon, NC.; a brother, Joe Smith of Greenville. and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Trakas was pre-deceased by a step grandson Derrick Hiles; four sisters, Ruth Smith Neal, Bertie Smith Warren, Helen Smith Knight, and Shirley Smith Lee and two brothers Floyd Smith and Jackie Smith.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at Covenant Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chuck Parrott and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as active Pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Shirley J. Dutton Helms
Moore, SC

Mrs. Shirley J. Dutton Helms, age 67 of 136 Plum Drive, Moore SC., wife of the late Bobby Allen Helms died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Helms was born in Spartanburg. SC July 17, 1940 a daughter of the late Clayton Dutton and Annie Mae Chapman. She was a graduate of Evans High School and attended Parkway Freewill Baptist Church.

Mrs. Helms is survived by four sons: Larry Helms of Moore, Terry Helms and wife Angie of Pauline, Jeff Helms and wife Candice of Union, and Steve Helms and wife Mary of Roebuck, two brothers: Clayton Dutton, Jr. of Pauline, Harold Dean Dutton of Clinton, a son-in-law Wayne Holland of Saxton; fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Helms was pre-deceased by a daughter, Tammy Holland.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Parkway Freewill Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mitchell Edge and Rev. Larry Padgett. Burial will follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens. Nephews will serve as active Pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Parkway Freewill Baptist Church from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM prior to service.

Lester Zimmerman
Buffalo, SC

Mr. James Lester Zimmerman, age 81 husband of Avonell Johnson Zimmerman of 1312 Main Street, Buffalo, SC died Monday, May 19, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Zimmerman was born in Union County, SC July 13, 1926, a son of the late J.P. Zimmerman and Essie Walker Zimmerman. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Zimmerman was retired from Life of Virginia Insurance Company and served his community as a Charter Member of the Buffalo Voluntary Fire Department, a Mason and a Shriner. He was an active member of Buffalo United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir and was a long time volunteer with the Salkachatchie Mission Projects.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Sondra Z. Black and her husband Earl of Union; a son-in-law, Michael Brown of Moore, SC; two grandchildren: Adam Black of Greenville and Melissa B. Franks and husband Rodney of Cullowhee, NC; a brother, Ralph Zimmerman and wife Jacque of Shreveport, La.; two sisters: Lillian Z. Holcombe and Betty Z. Braxton both of Buffalo; numerous nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Houston Ward of Union. Mr. Zimmerman was predeceased by his daughter, Janice Z. Mr. Willie Edgar Cartee, age 64, husband of Nellie Babb Cartee, of 116 Francis Avenue, Union, SC died Tuesday May 20, 2008 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cartee was born in Northfield, MN December 23, 1943, a son of the late Alonzo Edgar Cartee and Annie Piffer Cartee. He retired from Quality Haulers in Woodruff as a truck triver and was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle of God Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife Nellie are four daughters: Debbie Davis and husband Randy of Bufalo, Tonya Amin and husband Said of Union, Angel Cartee and April Cartee both of Woodruff; three sons: Mickey Cartee of North Carolina, Willie E. Cartee, Jr and Mitchell Dean "Dean-o" Cartee both of Woodruff; three sisters: Kathy Fudge and husband Neil and Melinda Brown and husband Jerry both of Rock Hill and Susan Robinson and husband Bufford of North Carolina; four brothers: Jimmy Cartee and Frank Cartee and wife Karen all of Anderson, Kenny Paul Cartee and wife Alice of Fort Mill, SC and Donnie Ray Griffin of Rock Hill; a granddaughter reared in the home Sandy Babb Davis and husband Brad and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Cartee was predeceased by three sons, two sisters and a grandchild.

Mr. Carl Dean Tice, age 71 of 117 South 6th Street, Lockhart, SC, widower of Betty Cookson Tice died Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his home.

Mr. Tice was born in Bay, Arkansas August 11, 1936, a son of the late Cager Tice and Myrtel Crews Tice. He retired from SC Hondros Construction Company and was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Tice was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are two daughters: Denise T. Warren and husband Alan of Lockhart and Carla T. Garner and husband Layton of Union; three grandchildren: Jay Garner and wife Anna of Spartanburg, Melanie Warren and Jacob Warren both of Lockhart and four brothers: Jerry Tice and Melvin Tice and wife Dot all of Missouri, James Tice and Charles Tice and wife Lucille all of Arkansas. Mr. Tice was predeceased by a brother, Edgar Tice.

Mrs. Carol Ivey Prince, age 58, wife of William G. "Bill" Prince of 723 Old Pump Station Rd., Union, SC died Thursday, May 20, 2008 in Chester County, SC from injuries sustained in a lawn mower accident.

Mrs. Prince was born in Union County, SC April 30, 1950, a daughter of Lofton A. "Pete" Ivey and Marjorie Trent Ivey of Union. She was owner and operator of Special Touch Services; a member of the Union County Cattleman’s Association and was of the Baptist Faith. She had a great love for animals and cared for stray animals for the Humane Society.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are a daughter, Bonnie Prince of Union; a son, Will Prince of the home; a brother, Petey Ivey and his wife Jeri of Union and five grandchildren: Charlie, Casey, Willie, Dakota and Willow.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, May 24, 2008 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Brown’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Wayne Barnett, age 62, husband of Sue Farner Barnett of 681 Meadow Woods Road, Buffalo, SC died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at his home.

Mr. Barnett was born in Union, SC December 22, 1946, a son of the late Jessie "Bill" Barnett and Lottie O’Shields Barnett. He graduated from Union High School and retired from W&W Logging due to his health and was previously employed with Bowater, Inc. Mr. Barnett was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Vietnam War. Mr. Barnett was a member of Putman Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and also served on the Youth Committee.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Jeff Barnett and wife Kim of Lexington, SC; two grandsons: Cole Barnett and Hayes Barnett; a sister, Florence Meador of Union and a niece, Delaine Simonson and husband Terry of Florence, SC and a great-niece, Alexandra Simonson of Florence.

Graveside services were held 12:00 Noon Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Putman Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ted Hodges and Rev. Robert Branch.

Mrs. Anita G. Sanders, age 93, of 313 Hart Street Union widow of Clarence B. Sanders, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs Sanders was born in Union, SC December 16, 1914 a daughter of the late Grover Gregory and Lollie Jolly Gregory. She was a graduate of Union High School and was retired from Milliken and Company-Excelsior Plant. Mrs. Sanders was a member Sardis United Methodist Church where she had formerly served as church treasure for thirty-five years, and was a member of United Methodist Women.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by a daughter Mary Ann Bell, and husband Paul; a son Donald R. Sanders and wife Cheryl all of Union; a sister Mary Jo Gregory of Union; four grandchildren Tommy Bell, Anita Latham, Wayne Bell, and Don Sanders; ten great-grand children Kristy Bell, Elizabeth Bell, Austin Bell, Ty Bell, Noah Bell, Geoffey Latham, Kacie Latham, Josh Sanders, Jessica Sanders, and Tara Sanders.

Mrs. Sanders was born in Union County, SC August 6, 1918, a daughter of the late Andrew Cogdell and Jenny Archer Cogdell. She was a graduate of Union High School and was formerly employed with Klapat Industries and Milliken & Co - Excelsior Plant. Mrs. Sanders was a life long member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over fifty years.

Surviving in addition to her husband of seventy years are a daughter, Susan Ellis and husband Tommy of Pauline; a son, Danny Sanders and wife Joanna of Conway; five grandchildren: Sandy Moss and husband Mark of Union, Joey Moss and wife Sue of Irmo, Crissy Ellis of Pauline, Debbie Maness and Hope Davis both of Jonesville; six great-grandchildren: Brittany and Megan Moss of Union, Nick Maness and Nicole Davis both of Jonesville, Mary Beth and Sidney Moss both of Irmo and a special caregiver, Lisa Plemons of Union. Mrs. Sanders was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Belue is survived by two daughters: Linda B Schatz (Robert) and Sylvia Farmer (Cecil) all of Greeleyville, SC; a sister; two brothers; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hydrick Gebert "Bert" West, age 81 of 137 Academy Street, Jonesville, SC, widower of Frances Bogan West and husband of Elsie West died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at his home.

Mr. West was born in West Springs, SC April 23, 1927, a son of the late Annie West Lancaster. He was a graduate of West Springs High School and Cecil’s Business College. Mr. West was the former Manager of B&B Mobile Homes in Jonesville; a former Union County Magistrate; a Past Master at Prudence Masonic Lodge #139; the American Legion; a Shriner, former member of the Jonesville City Council; former long time member of the Union County Transportation Committee; a former Board Member of the Salvation Army and the Jonesville Fire Department Board He was a life long member of Bogansville United Methodist Church where he served as a former Trustee; former member of the Cemetery Committee; a former member of the PPRC, and a member of the Official Board of the Church. Mr. West was also a member of the Mary Sue Keith Sunday School Class. "Bert" was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Martha West Robinson and husband Dennis of Jonesville; a son, Charles West, Sr and wife Michelle of Union; six grandchildren: Melissa "Missy" Robinson Mitchell and husband Lynn, Trad Robinson and wife Nikki, Charles West, Jr and wife Chasity, Noah West, Katie West and Danielle Brown; six great-grandchildren: Rob Mitchell, Anna Mitchell, Cagen West, Westley Robinson, Jacob Robinson and Camran West and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. West was predeceased by a brother, Max West and a step-sister, Dora Lawson.

Mr. Gregg was born in Del Rio, TN, March 12, 1941, a son of the late Frank William Gregg and Millie Turner Gregg. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves.

Surviving are three sisters: Hattie Addis and Nell Gregg of Jonesville and Margaret Guyton of Gaffney; a brother, Joe Gregg of Jonesville; a special caregiver and brother, Donnie Burgess of Jonesville; a special caregiver and great-nephew Matt Addis and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mrs. Fleming was born in Union County, SC July 20, 1925, a daughter of the late B.M. Oshields and Augusta Smith O’Shields and was a member of Putman Baptist Church.

Surviving are a brother, Lewis O’Shields of Florida; a special nephew, Randy Medford and wife Linda of Jonesville; a Godson, O’niel Medford and wife Christy of Greenville; two sisters-in-law: Alma O’Shields of Buffalo and Sybil O’Shields of Warrenville, SC; a special niece, Tavia Rigdon and husband Steve of Moore; a God-granddaughter: Katie Medford of Greenville and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bradburn was born in Union, October 22, 1921, a son of the late W.M. Bradburn and Florence Vaughn Bradburn. He was a retired Master Sargent with the U.S. Air Force and also retired from Union Auto Supply. Mr. Bradburn was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pisgah Camping Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Janet B. Richter of Stockbridge, GA; a son: James William Bradburn and wife Kathy of Union; a sister; Ruby Nabors Chattanooga, TN; one grandson: Ramon Hamilton Richter of Stockbridge GA, two nieces: Pamela Hodges of Jasper, Ga and Paula Graham of Chattanooga, TN.

Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors.

Mrs. Irene Laxton Williams, age 93, widow of Thomas Guy Williams, formerly of Williams Rd., Union, died Monday, May 26, 2008 at her daughters home in West Columbia.

Mrs. Williams was born in King’s Creek, NC, April 16, 1915 a daughter of the late Levi and Laura Maltba Laxton. She was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Mrs. Williams was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

Surviving are five daughters: Karen W. Hicks of Lexington, Paulette W. Vaughan and husband Bruce, Brenda W. Horne and husband Grady all of Union, June W. Arnold with whom she made her home, and Teresa W. Sparks of Boiling Springs; one sisters: Polly Crater of Winston Salem, NC; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Williams was predeceased by a son, David Williams, a Viet Nam Veteran, and a grandson: James Allan Hicks, III, and other brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 26, 2008, at Beulah Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Henderson was born in Union, January 8, 1949 a daughter of the late Albert Leon Henderson and Ellen Lanier Henderson. She was retired from Reeves Brothers in Woodruff and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughters: Barbara Poole and husband Thomas and Leslie Smith all of Union; one son: Wesley Waldrop and wife Michelle of Union; three sisters: Jean Bolin and Elaine Inman both of Union and Wanda Grubbs of Columbia; one brothers: Mark Sherbert of Union; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Henderson was predeceased by a daughter, Angela Hollingsworth; two sons: Kevin Owenby and Roger Owenby and a sister, Mary Jo Henderson.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 30, 2008 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook.

Mrs. Millwood was born in Union, SC September 24, 1956, a daughter of Albert Osment, Sr. of Gaffney and the late Agnes Erwin Osment. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. Millwood was first married to Ricky Dale Keasler, Sr.

Surviving in addition to her father are two sons: Ricky Dale Keasler, Jr of the home and Rocky Keasler of Gaffney; a grandchild, Davin Keasler of Union; a sister, Rachel Henderson of Jonesville; two brothers: Albert Osment, Jr and wife Mary of Forest City, NC and Rodger Osment of Chesnee and numerous nieces and nephews.
