Evan Daniel Gonzalez, infant son of Blaine I. and Erica Wood Gonzalez of 446 Pacolet St., Jonesville, SC died Friday, January 30, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Evan is survived in addition to his parents by a twin brother, John Andrew Gonzalez; maternal grandmother: Angela Wood of Union; paternal grandparents: Debra and Tim Henderson of Jonesville and Franklin and Tracy Gonzalez of Houston TX; maternal great-grandmothers: Joyce Wood and Shirleen Vaughan both of Union; paternal great-grandparents: John and Robin Cremeans and "Doc" and Juline Henderson all of Jonesville and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by a maternal grandfather, Daniel Wood; maternal great-grandfathers, Leroy Wood and Travis Vaughan; paternal great-grandmother, Phyllis Cremeans

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel and a private service will be held on Friday.

The family will be at the home of his paternal grandparents, Debra and Tim Henderson, 132 Park St., Jonesville, SC, 29353.

Ronald "Slim" Wright
Union, SC

Mr. Ronald L. "Slim" Wright, age 66, of 111 Arthur Street, Union, SC died Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at his home.

Mr. Wright was born in Buffalo, SC, January 19, 1943, a son of the late Edgar T. "Bud" Wright and Lois Haney Wright. He was a retired carpenter and was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Hannah Wright of Union and Laura Wright of Easley; three sisters: Shirley Robinson and husband Paul, Joyce Newton and husband Joe E. "Buddy" and Claudette Brewington and friend, Dan McGlocklin all of Buffalo; two brothers: Bruce Wright and wife Teresa of Jonesville and Brent Wright and wife Jean of Union; a sister-in-law, Hazel Wright of Buffalo; four grandchildren: Aleigha, Hallie, Casey and Stephon Wright; a number of nieces and nephews and special pets, Stewart, Tottles, Ramb-O and Gray Girl. Mr. Wright was predeceased by a brother, Jerry "Buddy Boy" Wright.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, February 5, 2009 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky McFalls, Gary Pegram, Elzie Newton, Kendall Austin, Myron Harris and Jimmy Maness.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Edward John Arthur
Union, S.C.

Mr. Edward John Arthur, age 80, husband of Mary Bailey Langley Arthur of North Pinckey St., Union, passed away Wednesday afternoon, February 4, 2009 at his home.

Mr. Arthur was born in Union Co., August 11, 1928 a son of the late Edward John (Ned) Arthur and Hazel Salley Arthur. One of four children, he was predeceased by three sisters: Hazel Salley Horton, Kathleen Arthur Guionnaud and Lucylee Gardner. He was a graduate of Union High School and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Following his military service he attended the Citadel. He worked for the Union Country Club for five years and then began a thirty year careeer with Cone Mills Corp., Carlisle Finishing. After retirement, he worked for the Union Dry Cleaning Co. Mr. Arthur was a member and secretary of the Board of Directors of Arthur State Bank for the past thirty years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a past member of the Union Lions Club.

John and Mary Bailey, married for 55 years are survived by a daughter: Mary Lucille (Cille) Cody and husband Robert of Union; one son: Edward Earl (Ned) Arthur and wife Pam of Charlotte, NC; two granddaughters: Lauralee Jolly and husband Lee, Martha Adair Craig and husband Brett and two great grandsons: Robert Lewis Jolly and Thomas Arthur Jolly all of Seneca.

"Papa John" will always be loved and remembered for his generous spirit and his kindness to everyone he met.

Following a private family burial at Presbyterian Cemetery, with military honors, a memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Caughman officiating.

The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of Grace United Methodist Church immediately following the service.

The Arthur State Bank Family, the ROMEO Club and Hardee’s Afternoon Coffee Club are asked to assemble at the church at 1:45 PM to form the honorary escort.

Mrs. Elizabeth Lawson Haney, age 93, of 146 Stevens Rd., Buffalo, SC, widow of James Thomas Haney, died Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Regional Hospice Home.

Mrs. Haney was born in Union County, SC, July 4, 1915, a daughter of the late John Thomas Lawson and Annie Mary Hyatt Lawson. She retired from Conso Products and was previously employed with United Merchants - Buffalo Plant. Mrs. Haney was a member of Buffalo United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Weaver and husband George of Union; a son, Thomas E. Haney and wife Barbara of Hawkins, TX; two sisters: Lottie L. Lancaster of Spartanburg and Mallie L. Smith of West Springs; four grandchildren: Lysa McLaren, Robert Haney, Brad Weaver and Greg Weaver; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Hilda Osborne of Buffalo; a special friend, Cindy Burnett of Buffalo and special caregivers, Rubye Richards and Kathy Rogers.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Buffalo United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kevin Dalton. Burial will be in Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Haney, Brad Weaver, Greg Weaver, Bobby Fleming, Bucky T. Sprouse and Dr. David Keith.

Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 PM Saturday in the church parlor prior to the service.

Rev. Clayton Zeno Price
Cowpens, SC

Rev. Clayton Zeno Price age 85, husband of Rev. Angelia Powell Price of 5419 North Main Street, Cowpens, SC died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Rev. Price was born in Seven Springs, NC, May 10, 1923, a son of the late Zeno A. Price and Gertrude Blizzard Price. He was a graduate of Seven Springs High School; Cape Fear Technical College, Wilmington, NC and Duke University - Divinity School and attended Washington College, Washington, DC. He is a retired United Methodist Minister and a member of the South Carolina United Methodist Conference. Rev. Price served churches both in North Carolina and South Carolina conferences. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves from 1941-1952. Rev. Price was Past President of USS North Carolina Battleship Association; Past Chaplin of the American Legion Post 129, Jonesville and Past Chaplin of States Rights Gist Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Rev. Price was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Gorgi Anna Lipsey and husband David; a grandson, Jordan David Lipsey all of Pacolet and several nieces and nephews. Rev. Price was predeceased by two sisters, Mary R. Garris and Gertrude P. Davenport.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Peterson, Rev. Dennis Lee and Rev. Dr. James Hunter. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.

Active Pallbearers will be Roger Hyatt, Wayne Henderson, Steve Lawson, Randall Bogan, Jeff Lawson and Terry Sturgill.

Visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the church immediately following the service.

Catherine Horne Proctor Smith
Jonesville, SC

Mrs. Catherine Horne Proctor Smith, age 86, of 221 Cane St. Jonesville, SC, widow of the late Alex P. Smith, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Wallace Thomson Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Smith was born in Columbia, SC, October 4, 1922, a daughter of the late Horace Horne and Nettie Fowler Horne. She was a graduate of Spartanburg Business College and was a member of Gilead Baptist Church of Jonesville, where she taught the Senior Women’s Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

For 60 years, "Cat", as she was affectionately known, provided fresh produce, home grown vegetables and traditional items at Proctors Grocery in Jonesville. For the past 40 years, her store served as a payment site for Broad River Electric Cooperative. She served Union County for 13 years as a judge in the Magistrate’s Court.

Mrs. Smith was first married to the late Evans Proctor, and is survived by their son, Gary E. Proctor of the home; a sister Frances Fowler, 2 nephews: Tommy Fowler and Gene Horne, all of Jonesville: a special friend Crystal Tyler and her granddaughter Tori Tyler and a beloved pet "Anna Belle". Mrs Smith was pre-deceased by 2 sisters; Evelyn H. "Cotton" Fowler and Lena H. Lee and 2 brothers; Carl "Hobo" Horne and Horace, Jr. "Jake" Horne.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 9, 2009 at Gilead Baptist Church in Jonesville, conducted by Dr. Lawton Neely and Rev. Jerry Lawson. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active Pallbearers will be Tommy Ivey, Howard Wells, Eddie Harris, Jimmy Wilkins, Randy Medford and Harold Freeman. The Senior Women’s Sunday School Class of Gilead Baptist Church and Past and Present Magistrates and staff are asked to sit in a group.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM, Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel, 145 Hames Ave. Jonesville.

Dr. Robert T. Garner
Taylors, S.C.

Dr. Robert Thomas Garner age 71 of Taylors, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Greer Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.

Dr. Garner was born in Union, June 21, 1938 a son of the late Robert Lacy Garner and Mary Vinson "Jeannie" Garner. He was a retired orthodontist specializing in maxillofacial orthopaedics.

Dr. Garner was a graduate of Greenville High School, received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Clemson University and graduated the University of Louisville, KY, Dental School where he also completed his residency. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and the Army Reserves having served during the Viet Nam War. Dr. Garner was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and many other professional organizations.

Surviving are two daughters: Courtney Garner Urich of Greer and Caroline Garner Dilorenzo of Long Island, NY; one brother: Steve Garner of Taylor and 7 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Patrick Garner. Dr. Garner was previously married to Susan C. Garner of Long Island, NY.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Friday evening Feb. 13, 2009 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel with Military Honors.

Virginia Gatliff

Mrs. Virginia Rogers Gatliff, age 78 of 3413 Lockhart Hwy, Union, SC, widow of Herbert Gatliff died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Gatliff was born in Canton, NC, May 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Fred Rogers and Candace Burress Rogers. She was a retired school bus driver and was of the Baptist Faith.

Mrs. Gatliff is survived by a daughter, Deborah Gatliff; a granddaughter, Stepheny Estes and husband Jimmy; a grandson, Steven Gatliff and wife Lisa; four great-grandchildren: Kayla Brewington, Stone Gatliff, Blain Estes and Ansleigh Estes ; a brother, Fred "Buddy" Rogers all of Union; a sister, Doris Fain and husband Jack of Rock Hill and a special niece, Delores McDaniel.

Visitation with a Celebration of Life Service will be held at the home of her grandson, Steven and Lisa Gatliff, 3407 Lockhart Hwy., Union, Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM.

Mr. Michael Wayne "Monroe" Allison age 46, husband of Gail Hendrix Allison of 102 James St., Union, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Allison was born in Union, September 16, 1962 a son of the late Dana and Margaret Parker Allison. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Michelle Sloan Allison of Union; one son: Michael Cody Allison of the home; a grandaughter: Calli Michelle Keisler of Union; one sister: Teresa A. Garner; one brother: Davis Allison and wife Libby all of Union; three nieces: Kelly Allison, Allison Gregory and Abby Gregory; one nephew: Chris Sumner and wife Jennifer. Mr. Allison was predeceased by a sister: Debbie Gregory.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Joan Carol Burgess

Mrs. Joan Carol Burgess, age 63, wife of Donnie Burgess of 404 C Street, Jonesville, SC went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 12, 2009.

Joan was born in Union, SC, January 21, 1946, a daughter of Kellie Robinson Bevis of Union and the late, Robert Bevis, Sr. She was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church where she was a member of Happy Hearts and Miriam Soto WMU Group. Joan prepared and served meals not only to the bereaved church family members, but also to members of the community. She served as Chairperson of the Jonesville Christmas Parade Committee, was a longtime member of Jonesville Booster Club and volunteered many hours to Jonesville Elementary School. Joan headed many fund raisers to benefit the needy families in the community. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving in addition to her husband of forty-seven years are two daughters: Nancy Burgess Lipsey and husband Gene and Donna Burgess Sanders and husband Mark all of Jonesville; a son, Cliff Roberts and wife Christi of Seneca and also reared in the home, Judi Lawson Lancaster and husband Richie of Buffalo; six grandchildren: Kyle Lipsey, Hannah Sanders, Drew Sanders, Carson Roberts, Campbell Roberts and Megan Lancaster and a great-grandson, Michael Tanner Lipsey; a brother, Bobby Dehart; a sister, Betty Shetley both of Union; a number of nieces; nephews and a "host" of special friends. Joan was predeceased by a brother, Robert Bevis, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Jonesville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ralph Brown and Rev. Randy Burgess.

Active pallbearers will be Ernest Moore, Danny Gregory, Terry Heatherly, Brad Freeman, Chris Lemons, Donald Addis, Jeff Addis and Steven Addis. Members of Miriam Soto WMU Group are asked to sit in a group.

Mrs. Brenda Davis Coker, age 62, widow of James Robert Coker of 140 Short St., Union, went peacefully home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, Sunday morning February 15, 2009.

Mrs. Coker was born in Union, October 30, 1946, a daughter of the late Douglas Davis, Jr. and Mary Louise Scoggins Davis. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are two daughters: Robin D. Coker of Union and Kimberly C. Jennings of the home; one son: Mark Coker and wife Jennifer of Buffalo; two brothers: George Davis of Greenwood and Jerry Davis of Union; 5 grandchildren: Jasmine Valles, Ashley Valles, Cayla Jennings, Kelsie Coker and T.J. Coker.

Graveside services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Branch and Rev. Stephen Berry.

Visitation will be held 7:00 until 9:00 PM Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Francis K. Fowler
Pelion, S.C.

Mr. Francis Keith "Buck" Fowler, age 90, of Elder Care of Pelion died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia.

Mr. Fowler was born in the Pea Ridge community of Union Co., September 4, 1918, a son of the late Arthur A. and Estelle Lybrand Fowler and was a graduate of Kelly Pinckney High School. His first job was with the Lockhart Power Co. for 9 years after which he went to work for Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Union for 8 years. Mr. Fowler spent his later life in Beaufort, SC and retired from Orkin Pest Control. He was a member of the Carteret Methodist Church where he was a member of the McCleod Bible Class. He resided in Mossy Oak Village for 20 years before going to the Elder Care Home in Pelion, SC.

Surviving are one sister: Sarah Fowler Proctor of Aiken; one nephew: Arthur M. Proctor, Jr. of Aiken; three nieces: Pamela Proctor Oates of Aiken, Jackie Black of Beaufort and Jean Von Harten also of Beaufort.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jonesville SC.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Nathaniel Luke Erwin, infant son of Jerry Dennis Erwin and April Barron Erwin of 533 Old English Rd., Union, SC died Monday, February 16, 2009 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Skylar Gossett, a brother, Nicholas Barron both of the home; maternal grandparents, John and Janet Barron of Sardis, Ga; maternal grandparents, Bobby and Brenda Moss of Union; maternal grandmother, Cheryl Labarr of Pennsylvania; paternal grandparents, Jerry and Sadie Erwin of Union, paternal great-grandparents, Lee Brewington and the late Mattie Brewington of Enoree and Willie and Doris Erwin of Union and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Herbert Garrett.

Lucille Vaughan Garner

Mrs. Lucille Vaughan Garner, age 94, of 296 Meansville Rd., Brittany Manor Apt. E 23, Union, SC, widow of Heyward Garner died Monday evening, February 26, 2009 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Garner was born in Union County, SC February 2, 1915, a daughter of the late James Thomas Vaughan and Bessie Wood Vaughan. She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the WMU. Mrs. Garner was also a former volunteer for the Literacy Program in Union and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are three daughters: Doris Burrell of Union, Shelbia James and husband Clyde E. of Pacolet and Terri Foster and husband Ricky of Buffalo; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Dr. Aulbrey Calvert, Rev. Dr. Tim Driggers and Rev. Joey Shetley.

Active pallbearers will be Kent Smith, Gene Becknell, Steve Knox, Mark Foster, Charles Huskey, Wayne Garner, Julian Garner and Alvin Garner.

Tommy Nave
Union, S.C.

Mr. Ivey Thomas "Tommy" Nave, age 77, husband of Grace Gregory Nave of 130 Nave Rd., Union, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a long illness.

Mr. Nave was born in Decatur, AL, January 16, 1932, a son of the late Charlie and Genner Owen Nave. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War and was retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing Plant. Mr. Nave was an active member and former deacon of Brown’s Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter: Jennifer Lawson and husband Troy of Jonesville; one son: Mike Nave and wife Donna of Union; two sisters: Virginia Callahan and husband Harold of AL and Norma Miley and husband David of Spartanburg; one brother: Leldon Nave of Union; 8 grandchildren: Amanda Ryals, Benji Nave, Michael Nave and wife Crystal, Chris Nave, Brittnee Lawson, Adam Lawson, Dustin Lawson and Eli Lawson; a special great-granddaughter reared in the home, Catherine Nave and three addition grandsons: Jacob Ryals, Seth Ryals, and Jacob Nave. Mr. Nave was predeceased by two sisters: Pauline McConnells and Margaret Blankenship; and two brothers: Ed Nave and Harvey Nave.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2009 at Brown’s Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Benji Nave, Michael Nave, Chris Nave, Adam Lawson, Troy Lawson, and John Nave.

George Len Henderson, age 52, husband of Kathy Vinson Henderson of 302 Canal Rd., Lockhart, SC died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Henderson was born in Union, SC, June 23, 1956, a son of Arthur Henderson of Union and the late Joann Collins. He was formerly employed with R.L. Jordan Oil Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Toby Henderson and wife Denise of Buffalo and Brian Henderson of Lockhart; four grandchildren: Bryant Henderson of Union, Tyler Henderson of the home, Justin Henderson of Florence and Hunter Henderson of Buffalo; three sisters: Terri Howze of Florence, Donna Gouch of Greenville and Lori Crocker of Inman.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 20, 2009 at Lockhart Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Ruby S. Varner
Buffalo, S.C.

Mrs. Ruby Stevens Varner, age 86, widow of John Russell Varner, Sr., of 155 Riley Rd., Buffalo, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Mrs. Varner was born in the Cross Keys community of Union Co., October 11, 1922, a daughter of the late Frank Arthur Stevens and Josie Murphy Donnelly Stevens. She was a graduate of Cross Anchor High School, where she was valedictorian of her class and a graduate of Cecil’s Business College in Spartanburg. Mrs. Varner was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church where she had served as church secretary and recently as assistant treasurer. She was a former member of the senior choir, a member of the T.E.L. Sunday School class and was a leader of the WMU Group 3. Prior to her marriage she was a member of Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church in Cross Keys. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are two daughters: Fairey Varner Horton of Greensboro, NC; Sandra Varner Strom and husband Thad of Union; one son: John Russell Varner, Jr. of Spartanburg; grandchildren: Trey Strom and wife Jennifer of Denver, CO, Trevor Stevens Strom of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Christopher Varner and Matthew Varner of Chesnee; a great granddaughter: Anna Louise Strom of Denver, CO; a sister-in-law: Ruth Varner Lawson of Buffalo and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Varner was predeceased by sisters: Naomi Donnelly Stevens, Estelle Stevens Grady, Hazel Stevens Grogan, Betty Stevens Hart and Julia Stevens Corley; and brothers: Carl Steven and Vernon Stevens.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Buffalo Baptist Church. Burial will be in Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Members of Mrs. Varner Sunday School Class are asked to sit in a group.

The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 12:30 until 1:30 PM in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. Harold Bradley "Brad" Gibson, age 28, of 1416 Lockhart Hwy, Union, SC died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Stephens County Hospital, Toccoa, Ga.

Brad was born in Union, SC, February 26, 1980, a son of Richard and Wendy Gibson Henderson of Union. He was 1997 graduate of Union High School; had earned his Master Plumbing License and was employed in the family business, Henderson Plumbing. Brad was an avid racing fan and enjoyed spending time with his mom and "best buddy", his dad, on fishing trips. He enjoyed working with computers and was a loving and faithful son.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Mandy Rochester and husband Brian of Pacolet; grandparents, Harold and Doris Gibson of Sharon; three aunts: Cheryl Henderson and special friend Olin Sinclair, Jennie Gregory and husband Michael and Lisa Benvenuti and husband Tony; an uncle, Keith Henderson and wife Faye all of Union. Brad was predeceased by his grandmother, Martha Davis and grandparents, Robert K. and Doris L. Henderson.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2009 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook and Pastor Ricky McFarlin. Burial will be in Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dennis Boughman, Bennie Burnette, Ron Mummery, Warren Pettit, Shane Bledsoe and Clint Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Henderson Plumbing.

Jacob Foster "Jake" Gregory

Mr. Jacob Foster "Jake" Gregory, age 83, passed away February 6, 2009 in Delray Beach, FL.

Mr. Gregory was a life-long resident of Delray Beach and a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was retired from Florida Power and Light and was an active member of the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Gregory is survived by his wife of sixty years, Rena Hawkins Gregory, formerly of Union and a daughter of the late Wallace H. and Ioline Smith Hawkins. Other survivors include his son, Jacob F. Gregory, II and wife Coleen of Morris, IL; three grandchildren: Leslie G. English and husband Jeff, Jacob F. Gregory, IV and Zachary F. Gregory; and one great-grandchild, Jack English.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 10, 2009 a the first Baptist Church of Delray Beach.

Mr. Terry Wayne Jackson, age 51 of 3600 Chateau Drive, Columbia, SC died Monday, February 23, 2009 at Lexington Medical Center, Columbia, SC.

Mr. Jackson was born in Union, SC , April 17, 1957, a son of the late Alonzo Jackson, Sr. and Ida Belle Keasler Jackson. He was a 1975 graduate of Union High School and Limestone College where he majored in music and theater. Terry was a resident of Columbia where he held a position at the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. He served as President of (CCAHTA) Carolina Chapter of American Horticultural Therapy Association, providing leadership, training and certification opportunities to members and other participants. Terry was a dedicated and loving member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Irmo, SC where he served as Choir Director; Director and member of the Handbell Choir; member of Congregation Council; Decorations Committee and a member of the Worship Team.

Surviving are a sister, Brenda J. Berry of Union; three brothers: Alonzo Jackson of Union, Tom Jackson and wife Mary of Taylors and Mike Jackson and wife Sherry of Union; nieces and nephews: Jeff Berry, Paige Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Ashley Jackson, Brooke Jackson and Dayne Jackson; great-nieces and great-nephews: Mary Kihla, Maggie Berry, Blake and Grant Berry. Terry was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Eugene Jackson; a niece, Lisa Jackson and a nephew, Kahil Jackson.

Funeral services will be held 3:30 PM Thursday, February 26, 2009 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Pastor Doug Graul and Rev. Alton Stone. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.
