Mrs. Louise Davis Parham, age 68, formerly of Union, widow of Roger Parham, passed away at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Tuesday, August 24, 2010.

Mrs. Parham was born in Saluda, SC, November 17, 1941 a daughter of the late Charles Otis Davis and Evelyn Eidson Davis. She was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are a daughter: Mary McAbee and husband Tony of Mineral Wells, W.Va.; two sisters: Margaret Lominick of Prosperity and Sarah Davis of Batesburg; two brothers: Leroy Davis and Gene Davis both of Batesburg; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Parham was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Vinson and a brother: Charles Ray Davis.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Mr. Alvin Biggerstaff. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.

Louise Gregory Jenkins
Union, SC

Mrs. Louise Gregory Jenkins, age 81 of 111 Keenan Avenue, Union, SC, widow of Henry Howard Jenkins died Friday, August 27, 2010 at her home.

Mrs Jenkins was born in Union, SC September 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Johnny Sharp Gregory and Mary Azalee Proctor Gregory. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Union where she was a member of Joy Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a daughter, Elizabeth Jenkins; a son, Henry Howard Jenkins, Jr both of the home; two sisters: Martha Gregory of Jonesville and Mary Toney of Union; three brothers: B.F Gregory and wife Cheryl of Jonesville, Wallace Gregory and wife Wanda of Pamplico, SC and Charlie Gregory of Union and seven nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jenkins was predeceased by two brothers: William E. Gregory and Andrew J. Gregory.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Robert Emory, Rev. Spencer Ledford, Chaplain James Cuttino, Jr.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

James David Ellis
Lockhart, S.C.

Mr. James David Ellis, age 49, of Whitten Center, Clinton, passed away August 26, 2010 at the Laurens Co. Health Care Center after a long illness.

Mr. Ellis was born in Lockhart, January 20, 1961 a son of Dean Ellis of Lockhart and the late Betsy LeMaster Ellis.

Surviving in addition to his father is his step-mother: Marsella Ellis; a sister: Kathy Domorski and husband Tony of Columbia; three brothers: Harold Ellis and wife Debbie of Pacolet, Robert Ellis and wife Peggy of Lockhart and Ken Ellis and wife Jessie of Columbia; step-sisters: Judy Fuller and husband Johnny of Jonesville, Stacey Lee and husband Craig and Connie Ellison and husband Reggie all of Pacolet; step-brothers: David Farr and wife Anna of Monroe, NC and Kenneth Farr of Lockhart; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Lockhart Cemetery.

Mi Tae Kim Kingsmore
Glendale, AZ

Mrs. Mi Tae Kim Kingsmore, age 75, wife of John F. Kingsmore of 5428 West Freeway Lane, Glendale, Arizona, died Tuesday morning at Hospice of the Valley in Peoria, Arizona following a two year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mrs. Kingsmore was born in Oak Chon, South Korea, January 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Pak Myong Hi and Pong Su Kim. She was a member of Luke Community Chapel at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. Mrs. Kingsmore was a loving wife, friend, mother and supporter of a veteran for 44 years.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: James M. Kingsmore of Las Cruces, New Mexico and John Richard Kingsmore of Glendale, Arizona; a mother-in-law: Bertie Ruth O. Kingsmore of Putman; two sisters: Wol Tae Kim of Anseong, South Korea and Bok Soon Kim of Cheonan, South Korea; two brothers: Kwon Tae Kim and Yu Tae Kim both of Daejon, South Korea; and one grandson: James D. Sprague of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ted Hodges and Rev. Sal Barone.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church.Committal services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, South Carolina.

Leslie "L.D." Gallman
Union, SC

Mr. Leslie D. "L.D." Gallman, age 82, husband of Nancy Comer Gallman of 796 Lover's Lane Rd., Union, SC, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Gallman was born in Union, SC March 9, 1928, a son of the late Eugene Gallman and Marie Garner Gallman. He was a graduate of Union High School and was a retired US Navy Veteran having served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Mr. Gallman also retired from the Charleston Veterans Administration after twenty-eight years of service. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Elaine G. Thompson of Union; three special grandchildren: Amber Gibson, Alyssa Kellett and Brandon Kellett all of Goose Creek; a great nephew John Houser of Rhode Island and a sister-in-law Mary F. Prince and husband Ellic of Whitmire.

Mr. Gallman was predeceased by a sister, Rachel G. Houser and a nephew Eugene Houser.

Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, August 27, 2010 at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. John Cribb. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Thursday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rosa Lee Thomas, age 87 of 200 Hart Street, Union, SC, widow of Alton A. Thomas died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Union, SC April 5, 1923, a daughter of the late Edgar Knox and Lillie Gregory Knox. She was a retired textile worker and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters: Loretta T. Edwards and husband Gene, Joetta T. Edwards and husband Thomas, Carolyn T. Lancaster and husband Ellis and Felecia T. Ross; a son, Mark L. Thomas and wife Lisa all of Union; two sisters: Helen Puckett of Putman and Betty Jean Cagle of Union; three brothers: James Knox of Lockhart, Toby Wayne Knox of Union and Broadus Knox of Woodruff; twenty-three grandchildren and a number of great-children and great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by thee daughters, Cheryl Burley, Doris Hix and Sylvia Ann Thomas; three brothers: Mack Arthur Knox, Franklin D. Knox and Harold Knox and a granddaughter, Lindsey Brooke Thomas.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bob Cato, Mr. Eddie Edwards and Rev David Lewis. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be the following grandsons: Gene Edwards, Jr, Chris Edwards, Josh Edwards, Harry Edwards, Jr, Joseph Edwards, Eddie Edwards and Bud Broome. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, Edward Inman and Danny Inman.

Mrs. Thomas will be carried to the home, 200 Hart Street, Union on Wednesday where the family will receive friends and will be placed in the church 3:00 PM Thursday to await the hour of service.

Myrtle S.Kendrick
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Myrtle Seymore Kendrick age 76, of Brittany Manor Apts., Union, widow of Charles Kendrick, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at the United Health Care in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Kendrick was born in Ninety Six, SC, March 16, 1934, a daughter of the late Olis Johnson Seymore and Minnie Boland Seymore. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant. Mrs. Kendrick was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lockhart.

Surviving are three sons: Lanny Ross Fuller of Wrightsville Beach, NC, Art Fuller and wife Teresa of Chester and Johnny Fuller and wife Judy of Jonesville; three step-sons: Andy Kendrick and wife Angie of Charlotte, NC, Larry Kendrick of Jacksonville,FL, and Keith Kendrick of Lockhart; 11 grandchilden and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jimmy Cox. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.

Mr. Charles F. "Chuck" Shaw, age 77, widower of Betty Satterfield Shaw, formerly of 136 Lee Rd. Jonesville passed away Sunday, August 21, 2010 after a long illness.

Mr. Shaw was born in Coffeyville, KS, September 17, 1933 a son of the late Elston and Anna Shaw. He was a graduate of Kansas Community College in Coffeyville and retired as a computer specialist. Mr. Shaw was a veteran of the US Airforce having served during the Korean War and was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son: William Dean Shaw and wife Brenda of St. Georgia, Utah; a step-daughter whom he loved like a daughter: Elaine Lawson and husband Billy of Jonesville; four grandchildren: William Charles Shaw of Birmingham, AL, Jessica Marie Shaw of St. Georgia, Utah, Mark Lawson of Putman Community and Mia Silver and husband Chad of Roebuck ; his best-friend: Bill Poe of Texas. He was predeceased by a step-son: Jimmy Morris.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 4:00 PM Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Gary Peterson.

Mrs. Myrtle Helton Willard, age 82, widow of Joe T. Willard, Sr., formerly of 312 Springdale Dr., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, August 23, 2010.

Mrs. Willard was born in Carrolton, GA, July 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Ezra W. Helton and Alma Johnson Helton. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of the Social Committee of the Church. Mrs. Willard was a sustaining member of the Union County Junior Charity League and formerly volunteered in the canteen of Wallace Thomson Hospital. She also had held a position on the Union City Council.

Surviving are two daughters: Janie Brown and husband Rev. Ralph Brown of Jonesville and Joan Parks and husband Jerry of Union; one son: Joe T. Willard Jr. and wife Wanda of Georgia; two sisters: Betty Jean and Ralph Kirby and Martha Ann and Ray Bailey all of Georgia; five brothers; Jack Helton and wife Nell, Joe Helton all of Union, Edward Helton and wife Shirley, Elliott Helton and Wayne Helton all of Georgia; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ralph Brown and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Ricky Joshua "Rilo" Allison, age 29, husband of Brandy Moore Allison, of 737 Webber Lake Rd. Union, SC, went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 20, 2010 at Wallace Thomson Hospital from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Allison was born in Union, April 24, 1981, a son of Ricky Gene Allison of Gaffney and the late Linda Gail Horne Allison. He attended Union High School and was employed as a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are a daughter, 1 sister Wendy England and husband Bronson and a brother, Bobby Wayne Moss and wife Lara of Union and 3 neices, Brittney Moss, Alana Moss and Lexi England, 2 nephews, Cody Moss and Brennon Moss and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday , August 25, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Philippi Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

Floyd Eugene "Pete" Gault

Mr. Floyd Eugene "Pete" Gault, age 76 of 408 Meansville Rd., Lot 20, Union, SC died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Regional Hospice House.

Mr. Gault was born in Union County, SC January 6, 1934, a son of the late Dorothy Gault Lipsey. He was a 1955 graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from Excelsior Mills and Carlisle Finishing. Mr. Gault was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are a sister, Marie Knox of Union; a brother, Richard Gault and wife Dianne of Jonesville; two nieces: Amy Knox of Union and Gay Gault of Joneville; a nephew, Chad Gault and wife Melissa of Pauline; two special great-nieces: Evey Adams of Union and Savanna Kendrick of Jonesville; a great-step-nephew, Dawson Hoffman of Pauline; a special cousin, Cetora Kerr of Union and an aunt, Doris Jean Johnson of Union.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 21, 2010 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Carl Harris. Burial will be in Jonesville Memorial Gardens.

Ronald S. Kingdon, Sr.
Buffalo, S.C.

Mr. Ronald S. Kingdon, Sr., age 81, widow of Eva Garner Kingdon, 179 A Bailey Rd., Buffalo, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.

Mr. Kingdon was born in Pavilion, NY, October 20, 1928, a son of the late Stewart and Bernice Warren Kingdon. He was retired from Union Co. Detention Center and later worked as a security guard with Conso Products. Mr. Kingdon was veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War and was of the Pentecostal faith.

Surviving are two sons: Ronald E. "Ronnie" Kingdon and wife Janice Wilson of Buffalo, with whom he made his home and Ronald S. Kingdon, Jr. of Minnesota ; one brother: Warren Kingdon of Virginia; several step-children including: Jonathan Fleming, Joan Fleming, Betty Jean Fleming and Jane Bragg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Linda Ruth Barber Gregory, age 68 of 158 Lawson Rd., Union, SC, widow of Robert Lee Gregory, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Gregory was born in Union, SC January 28, 1942, a daughter of the late David Barber and Rachel Sumner Barber. She was a former textile worker and was a very faithful member of Welcome Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters: April Ford and husband Rev. Lynn Ford and Teresa Lane and husband Eddie; a son, Mickey Fleming and wife Wanda; a sister, Mary Hyder all of Union; six grandchildren: Robert Kyle Ford, Dr. Kristi Ford Scales, Katie Ford, Tyler Lane, Chris Fleming and Michael Fleming; two great-grandchildren: Chelsea Fleming and Logan Betenbaugh and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gregory was predeceased by five brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Welcome Baptist conducted by Rev. Robert Jarvis. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Jessie Edmonds Childress, age 74, of 107 Malone Avenue, Union, SC, widow of James Brooks Childress died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Childress was born in Clinton, SC September 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Johnny Edmonds and Mattie Lee Hembree Edmonds.

Surviving are five daughters: Jimmie Plemons and husband Tim of the home, Wanda Mosley and husband Rodger of Chesnee, Debra Holmes and husband Danny of Mountville, SC, Tammie Hughes of Union and Linda Black and husband Mark of Enoree; two sons: Randy Childress and wife Shannon of Duncan and Daniel Childress and wife Angel of Laurens; a brother, Rufus Edmonds of Joanna; twelve grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Gospel Tabernacle Church in Laurens. Burial will be in Laurens City Cemetery.

Mrs. Ferol Sanders Clark, age 85, wife of Glenn Clark of 407 North 3rd Street, Lockhart, SC died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at her home.Mrs. Clark was born in Pea Ridge, SC March 11, 1925, a daughter of the late Bryant Sanders and Mazie Howell Sanders. She retired from Spring Industries in Chester County and was formerly employed with Milliken & Company - Lockhart Plant. Mrs. Clark was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church..

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Frances Alman and husband Marvin; a son, Wayne D. Garner and wife Peggy all of Union; a step-daughter, Diane Wrinklebaeur and husband Tom of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Lee Sanders and wife Lois of Union; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clark was predeceased by a brother, Keith Sanders; a sister, Kathryn Garner; a step-son, Glenn Clark, II and a grandson, Michael Wayne Garner.

Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, August 14, 2010 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Alan West and Rev. Ben Hill. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

John Calvin Hervey, Jr.
Captain, US Navy (Ret.)

Alexandria, VA

Mr. John Calvin Hervey, Jr. age 73, husband of Hettie Fowler Hervey of Alexandria, VA, passed away on August 5, 2010 at his home after a sudden illness.

Mr. Hervey was born in Queens, NY, January 12, 1937 a son of the late John C. Hervey, Sr. and Marie Holmes Hervey. He was a 1960 graduate of Tufts University in Medford, MA. While a student, he served as Editor in Chief of the the yearbook, class president, baseball team manager, and was a member of the Ivey Society, Tower Cross and Student Council. Mr. Hervey was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

In September of 1967, he married Miss Hettie Fowler, a native of Union, SC, and daughter of the late Gen. Norris Rogers Fowler and Hettie Kennedy Fowler.Mr. Hervey was retired from the US Navy and was recipient of the Navy Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Force Medal and the Vietnam Service Ribbon. Enlisting in the Navy in 1952 and retiring in 1989, he earned more than 34 years of total service of active and reserve duty. Among his assignments, he served as Captain of the USS Whipporwill MSC207 and Commanding Officer of CMD52 Minesweeper Division.

Mr. Hervey worked for Mobil Oil Co. for 25 years in a variety of capacities including developing Mobil's Marketing Information Systems Group. He had served as Senior Director of Information Systems for Minit Mart Foods in Bowling Green, KY, was a consultant of Gerke and Associates and also Chief Technology Officer for the National Association of Convenience Stores. An advocate for technology standards in convenience store and petroleum industries, he became the first executive director of PCATS (Petroleum Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards) a position he held until retirement in 2009.

Mr. Hervey was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He volunteered as a Sunday school teacher with the Indian Guides and currently with the USO at Ronald Regan National Airport.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Elizabeth Brandon Hervey; a son: James Edward Hervey; and granddaughter: Abigael Barbara Hervey. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Hervey Fiecco.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 14, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church conducted by the Rev. Sanders Read. Burial will follow in the Old Fairforest Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Jonesville, SC.

Mr. Tony Francis Taylor, age 33, of 18 Bagwell Circle, Greenville, SC died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Greenville Memorial Hospital from injuries received in a moped accident.

Mr. Taylor was born in Union, SC, a son of Janie Taylor of Pacolet. He was attending ITT Technical College in Greenville and employed with Eastern Business Forms, Inc in Mauldin. Mr. Taylor also worked as event staff at the Bilo Center. He faithfully attended Sky Point Church and was a resident of Solutions Recovery Center.

Surviving are his wife, Jessica Russell Taylor; three daughters: Alexis Taylor, Hailey Taylor and Josie Taylor all of Laurens; six brothers: Wayne Taylor and wife Ann of Spartanburg, Ricky Taylor and wife Julie of Union, Leonard Bradburn and wife Sherry of Pacolet, David Bradburn and wife Gail and Jerry Bradburn and wife Laura all of Union and numerous cousins. Mr. Taylor was predeceased by an aunt, Frances Elizabeth Taylor.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, August 13, 2010 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Branch.

Mr. Jack Wayne Wilkins, age 66, of Blacksburg, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital in Spartanburg after a brief illness.

Mr. Wilkins was born in Gaffney, January 22, 1944, a son of the late Jack Gibbs Wilkins and Bessie Juanita Baldwin Wilkins. He was a retired truck driver and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Wilkins was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughters: Beverly W. Kurtz of Buffalo and Jennifer W. Rogers of Union; one brother: Gibbs Wilkins of Edisto Island; two sons and 8 grandchildren including Rebekah, Rachel, Isabella Rogers, Daniel and Nathan Kurtz. Mr. Wilkins was predeceased by a daughter and a grandson, Jack Wilkins Rogers.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.

Mrs. Mildred Palmer Gault, age 90 of 1300 S. Pinckney Street, Union, SC, widow of DeFoy Gault died Monday, August 9, 2010 at Regional Hospice House.

Mrs. Gault was born in Pea Ridge Community, SC September 12, 1919, a daughter of the late Clough Palmer and Bessie Bentley Palmer. She was a member of Ottaray Baptist Church and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are three daughters: Patricia Maynor Fowler and husband Jimmy of Gaffney, Joyce G. Roof and husband Stanley of W. Columbia and Carolyn G. Williamson and friend Gene E. Hardee of Union; five grandchildren: Joseph M. Winchester and wife Alita, Nikki M. Humphries and husband Trae, Angela R. Kedek, Stanley L. Roof, Jr and wife Elizabeth and Shelley W. Dixon and husband Jeffrey; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandhildren. Mrs. Gault is predeceased by a sister Azalea O'Kelly and two brothers, Foster "Red" Palmer and Woodrow "Buck" Palmer and a special friend, Wilson Leonhardt.

Mr. Corder was born in Newberry County, SC August 29, 1955, a son of the late William Ernest Lee Corder and Juanita Ruth Wallen Corder. He was formerly employed with Renfro Textiles and attended Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Whitmire.

Surviving are a son, David Charles Corder of New Mexico; two sisters: Susan Elaine Bryant and Annette Bodie and husband Clay all of Whitmire; a niece, April Bodie and fiancee Blake; four nephews: Michael Corder, Daniel Bodie and girlfriend Rebecca, Brian Steele and girlfriend Susan and William "Bit" Steele; a great-niece, Dakota Bodie and a great-nephew Brian Steele, Jr all of Whitmire.

Mr. Thomas J. Malpass, Jr., age 70, husband of Nell Vaughan Malpass of 139 Will Palmer Rd., Union died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Malpass was born in Union, SC, July 1, 1940 a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Malpass, Sr. and Mattie Viola Wilson Malpass. He retired from Milliken and Company as a truck driver and was a veteran of the US Army and National Guards. Mr. Malpass was a faithful member of Victory Baptist Church, where he was a member of the adult Mens Sunday School class, a Former Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. Also he served on the building and grounds committee at the church. Mr. Malpass loved the Lord and his family and church family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-three years, are a daughter: Gloria D. Neal and husband Dale of buffalo; a brother: Dennis Malpass and wife Mary of East Maryland; two grandchildren: Michelle Pilgrim and husband Sammy of Honeypath and Dawn Lawson and husband Erik of Buffalo; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Malpass was predeceased by a sister: Vera McAbee.

Mrs. Faye Holcombe Williamson, age 77, widow of Marion L. "Bill" Williamson, of Whitmire passed away Thursday morning at National Health Care of Greenville

Mrs. Williamson was born in the Pea Ridge community of Union Co., August 26, 1932, a daughter of the late Samuel Ratchford Holcombe and Irene Fowler Holcombe, founders of Holcombe Funeral Home. She was a graduate of Union High School and was retired from Duke Power Co. in Whitmire.

After retirement, she enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Williamson was a member of The Master's Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter: Betty W. Thompson of Whitmire; a son: Billy H. "Pedro" Williamson and wife Dana of Traveler's Rest; seven grandchildren: Jessica W. Bourque and husband Tatum, Eric M. Thompson and wife Maria, Susan T. Ellison and husband Ray, Claudia Williamson, Billie Marie W. Gwinn and husband Stephen, Shana W. Upham and husband Nick and Lynlee Beth Thompson; six great-grandchildren: Alex Ellison, Caylee Ellison, Zoe Bourque, Trent Thompson, Abigail Bourque, Felicity Upham and soon to be born, Ryder Jace Thompson.

Mrs. Williamson was predeceased by one sister, Gladys H. Genoble and two brothers: Billy E. Holcombe and August F. Holcombe.

Mrs. McCuthceon was born in Union, July 26, 1951, a daughter of the late Joseph D. and Ruth Richardson Bingham. She was active in her husband's ministry and in the various churches conventions he has served. Mrs. McCutheon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cary, NC and had formerly worked in child care. She was a devote Christian wife and mother.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons: Don Louis McCutcheon, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Cincinnati and Randy Malcolm McCutheon of of Cary, NC; two grandsons: Lucas Aaron McCutcheon and Peter Joseph McCutcheon; four sisters: Marilyn McCormick, Faye Maynor, Diane Bingham and Mary Holloway all of Rockingham, NC and three brothers: Bobby Bingham of Clinton and Billy and Albert Bingham of Rockingham, NC.

Mrs. Mary Lou Ellis Wilburn, age 82 of 218 Glendale Rd., Union, widow of the Hon. David N. “Sonny” Wilburn, Jr., passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Wilburn was born in Dania, FL, August 26, 1927, a daughter of the late Lindsey Thornton Ellis and Lois Belle McBride Ellis. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College, received her Bachlors degree from Furman University and her Masters degree from the University of South Carolina. Mrs. Wilburn was a retired educator and guidance counselor with the Union Co. School System A member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Mrs. Wilburn was also a member of the Friends of the Library, the Criterion Book Club and several bridge clubs. She was an active member of the Epicopal Church of the Nativity as long and her health premitted and was always a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all.

Surviving are a daughter: Lynn Wilburn Franken of Florence; two sons: David N. Wilburn, III and wife Teresa of Moore and Timothy Ellis Wilburn and wife Susan of Floral City, FL; grandchildren: John David Franken and wife Alana of Florence, Lindsey Franken of Columbia, Chris Cranford and wife Karen of Salem, OR, David N. Wilburn, V of Moore, Kirby Wilburn and Timothy E. Wilburn, Jr. both of Floral City, FL; a sister-in-law: Mary Elizabeth Wilburn Hooker of Richmond, VA; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilburn was predeceased by a brother, the Rev. Dr. E. Earle Ellis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity conducted by Father Robert H. Long. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The Episcopal Church Women of Nativity Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. George Thomas Ivey, age 82 of 104 James St., Union, passed away, Sunday, August 2, 2010 at Oakmont Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the widower of Virginia Fallaw Ivey, his wife of 55 years.

Mr. Ivey was born in Union, SC, May 28, 1928, a son of the late Douglas and Dora Horne Ivey. He was retired from Daniel Construction and attended Ottaray Baptist Church. Mr. Ivey was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII and the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are two daughters: Cindy Long and husband Phillip, Ginger Hughes and husband Jerry all of Rock Hill; three sons: Tim Ivey and wife Janie of Lexington, Ronnie Ivey and wife Gwen and Donnie Ivey and wife Debbie all of Union; three sisters: Dot Petty of Spartanburg, Nellie Steagall of Union and Evelyn Crocker of Laurens; a special nephew: Gerald Steagall; a special sister-in-law: Pearl F. Crocker both of Union; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mr. Ivey was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Ivey.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson.

Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service.

Mrs. Devieux Hopkins Vinson, age 83, formerly of Gaffney Hwy., Jonesville, widow of Manley Vinson, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Vinson was born in the Mt. Lebanon community of Union Co., August 16, 1926, a daughter of the late Allen Paul Hopkins and Lee Ola Babb Hopkins. She was a 1943 graduate of West Springs High School and retired from Milliken Co., Monarch Plant. Mrs. Vinson was a member of Gilead Baptist Church where she was member of the WMU and the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class. She had also hosted the Youth Sunday School Class at her home for a number of years.

Surviving are two sisters: Mary Jane Chastain and husband Carlton of Union and Peninnah H. Smith and husband Roy Lee of Buffalo; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vinson was predeceased by two brothers: Leon Elmer Hopkins and Montague Hopkins; and a sister: Merle H. Thatcher.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Lawton Neely. Visitation will be held after the service in the church.

The family is at the home of Mary Jane and Carlton Chastain, 543 Peach Orchard Rd., Union.

Billy Dean Latham
Lockhart, S.C.

Mr. Billy Dean Latham, age 77, husband of JoAnn Roberts Latham of 587 Old Union Rd., Union, passed away at his home, Sunday, August 1, 2010.

Mr. Latham was born in Union Co., February 23, 1933, a son of the late John David Latham and Ella Mae Jones Latham. He was a graduate of Lockhart High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Latham was retired from the Maintenance Dept. of Wallace Thomson Hospital and had previously worked with Hope Hospital in Lockhart. He also was employed with Cone Mill, Carlisle Plant for 23 years and attended the First Baptist Church of Lockhart.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Deborah Ann Latham and a son: Ronald Dean Latham both of Lockhart; two sisters: Sara L. Gallman of Hendersonville, NC and Laura Dabbs of Lockhart; one brother: Thomas “Buck” Latham of the Brown's Creek community; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Latham was predeceased by two brothers: Melvin Latham and Marion Latham; two sister: Agnes L. Vanderford and Joe L. Kirby.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Lockhart conducted by Rev. Ben Hill and Rev. Rob Jones. Burial will be in Lockhart Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 8:30 Monday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
