Mary Donnelly Gault, age 48, of 1530 Gaffney Hwy, Jonesville, SC died Wednesday, September,29, 2010 at Regional Hospice House, Spartanburg, SC.

Mrs. Gault was born in Union, SC July 12, 1962, a daughter of Larry and Rita Stepp Blair of Jonesville. She attended Union High School and was formerly employed with Quincy's in Union. Mrs. Gault was a full time nanny to her year old grandson, Cameron Boulware.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her spouse Mike "Whitey" Wynn; a daughter: Jessica Gault and financee' Blake Boulware all of the home; two sisters: Rhonda Lindler of Jonesville and Wanda Donnelly of Union; a grandson, Cameron Boulware; maternal grandmother, Eva Delle Stepp wife of the late Troy Stepp of Union and a special niece, Katie Lindler of Jonesville.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Sanders, Todd Little, Rowland Chavis, Jr, Jay Adams, Scott Greene and Eddie Turner.

Addie Eloise Gist Lancaster
Buffalo, SC

Mrs. Addie Eloise Gist Lancaster, age 101 of 1169 Mudbridge Rd., Buffalo, SC, widow of Freddie Moore Lancaster died Thursday evening, September 29, 2010 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Lancaster was born in Buffalo, SC September 10, 1909, a daughter of the late David Christopher Gist and Sallie Addie Palmer Gist. She was a granddaughter of the late William H. Gist Secessionist Governor of South Carolina. She was a member of Bogansville United Methodist Church, Joy Group and the United Methodist Women of Bogansvville. Mrs. Lancaster was retired from United Merchants - Buffalo Plant. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a son, Randolff Smith Lancaster and his wife Mary Jo of Buffalo; a daughter-in-law, Ann T. Lancaster of Union; nine grandchildren: Debbie Youngblood, Larry Lancaster, Nancy West, Richie Lancaster, Betty Roark, Tommy Lancaster, Michael Lancaster, Rose Mary Gregory and Susan Gregory; eight great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren and six step-great-great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons: Thomas Bruce Lancaster and Billy Dean "Head" Lancaster and a number of sisters and brothers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. David Keith and the staff of Oakmont Assisted Living.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Bogansville United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Gary Peterson.

Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday morning at Bogansville United Methodist Church prior to the graveside service.

Memorials may be made to Bogansville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 4052 Buffalo West Springs Hwy, Jonesville, SC 29353.

Nim Franklin "Bo" Knox
Pacolet, S.C.

Mr. Nim Franklin "Bo" Knox, age 60, widower of Cathy Knox of 225 Countryside Dr. Pacolet, passed away Thursday September 30, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Knox was born in Union, January 14, 1950 a son of the late Lloyd Calvin Knox, Sr. and Minnie Austin Knox. He was a retired Certified Nurses Aid having worked at Big Town Nursing Home in Texas. He also was a lodger having worked with Jim Baker Lodging Co. Mr. Knox was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter: Laura Parris and husband Michael with whom he made his home; a granddaughter: Jasmine Parris of the home; special nieces and nephews: Lynn and Jerry Fox and Neal Burris and fiancee' Kimberly Voiselle all of Buffalo; and several other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Knox was predeceased by two brothers: Larry Knox and Lloyd Knox, Jr. and a sister: Judy Gillian.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 Pm Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Allen Gregory. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Neal Burris, Brandon Turner, Jerry Fox, Jr., Brandon Moore, Michael Trantham, and Jerry Fox, Sr.

Visitation will be held after the committal service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to the Nim F. Knox Fund, P.O. Box 293, Union, SC. 29379.

Linda Horton Belue
Union,S.C.

Mrs. Linda Horton Belue, age 63, wife of Larry H. Belue of 182 Camelot Dr., Union, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Belue was born in the Bullock's Creek community of Sharon, SC, December 21, 1946, a daughter of the late Elyphus Barner Horton and Eva Inman Horton. She retired teacher with the Union Co. School system having taught in Adult Education. Mrs. Belue received her BS degree from Limestone College and her Masters in education from Converse College and the University of South Carolina. She was a member of Tanglewood Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter: Roxie Belue of the home; a son: Jamie Ivey and wife Jan of Union; three grandchildren: Kinsley Gallman of the home, Jamie Beth Ivey and Ashley Ivey of Union; four sisters: Dorothy Horton of Sharon, Carolyn Bradley of Chester, Eleanor Michaels of Bowling Green, NC, and Mary Elizabeth Price of Waco, TX; two brothers: William Horton of Hickory Grove and Walter Lee Horton of Rock Hill, several nieces and nephews and very special friends. Mrs.

Belue was predeceased by a sister, Trula Ham and two brothers: Elyphus Barner Horton, Jr. and Francis Horton.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Tanglewood Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Branch. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Betty Phillips
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Betty Jenkins Moore Phillips, age 80, widow of Fred J. Phillips, formerly of Churchill St., Union, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a long illness.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Union, January 25, 1930 a daughter of the late Sydney Lewis Jenkins and Vera Johns Jenkins. She attended Santuck school and graduated from Union High School. Mrs. Phillips retired from Torrington Co. as switchboard operator after 18 years and was employed with Rose's Dime Store of Union for 30 years until their closing. She was a member of First Baptist Church and first married to the late M.C. "Speedy" Moore. Mrs. Phillips was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a son: Phillip T. Moore and wife Vickie of Union; a step-daughter: Melissa P. Gregory and husband David of Union; seven grandchildren: Karlison Suzanne "Karli Sue" Moore, Victoria Faye Moore, Kevin Gregory and wife Courtney, Kyle Gregory and wife Courtney, Kacie Gregory, Beth P. Lancaster and Sam Phillips; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Phillips was predeceased by a brother, William L. "Billy" Jenkins and a step-son: Jimmy "Chigger" Phillips.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, October 1, 2010 at Beulah Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Truitt, Rev. Robert Emory, and Rev. Larry Padgett. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Retired co-workers from Torrington and Mrs. Phillip's caregivers at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 8:30 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Nellie Bates White
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Nellie Matilida Bates White, age 88, formerly of Lockhart Hwy., passed away, Monday, September 27, 2010 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a long illness.

Mrs. White was born in Union, May 8, 1922 a daughter of the late Mark Andrew Bates and Selma Ingles Bates. She was a graduate of Union High School and a graduate of business college. Mrs. White first worked as a bookkeeper with Konu's Dept. Store in Columbia and afterwards with several business in Union. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family as was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are one son: Lewis P. "Pat" O'Shields, Jr. and wife Lois of Union; three grandsons: Charles A. O'Shields of Columbia, James B. O'Shields and Justin L. O'Shield both of Union; one great-grandson: Zachery A. O'Shields of Spartanburg. Mrs. White was predeceased by a son, Charles Arthur O'Shields and his wife Kathy Adams O'Shields.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.The family is at the home of Lisa Adams, 528 Lover's Lane Rd., Union, SC 29379.

Martha Lawson Copeland
Union, SC

Mrs. Martha Lawson Copeland, age 76, wife of Guy Copeland of 523 Toluca Street, Union SC, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Regional Hospice House.

Mrs. Copeland was born in Union, SC November 22, 1933, a daughter of the late Roy T. Lawson, Sr. and Pearl Lawson Lawson. She was a graduate of Union High School; a former Textile worker and was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters: Marlene Ethridge and friend "Egghead" Davis of Jonesville and Tammie Davis and friend Carroll Burgess of Union; two sons: Larry "Foot" Lawson and wife Patricia and Charles Allen all of Union; two sisters: Hazel Bobo and husband Sam and Carol Cookson and husband Bud; a brother, Harold Lawson and wife Bobbie Jean all of Union; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Copeland was predeceased by five sisters, two brothers and a grandson.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Benny Green.

Visitation will be held immediately following the graveside service.

Ruth Keith Free
Jonesville, S.C.

Ruth Keith Free, 89, of 132 Free Farm Road, Jonesville, widow of John Watt Free, died Saturday, Sept. 25, in Wallace Thomson Hospital after several years of declining health.

Mrs. Free was born in Newberry County on Sept. 1, 1921, a daughter of the late Jefferson Frazier Keith, Sr. and Myrtle Ellen Garner Keith. She spent much of her teen-age and young adult years at the family’s peach farm on Meansville Road. She was a 1943 graduate of Union High School. She was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Navy in the WAVES. She was proud of her service to her country and the fact that her five brothers also served.
After the war, she graduated with honors from Piedmont Beauty College. She met her husband, John, while working at Keith Supply in Jonesville, which was owned by her brothers, Martin and Bob. John and Ruth were married in 1953 and John passed away in 1984. The Frees made their home on the family cattle farm in Jonesville where she enjoyed her garden, chickens and feeding the birds. Mrs. Free was a member of Jonesville United Methodist Church and the John Hames Chapter of the UDC, where she served for many years as chaplain.

Mrs. Free is survived by her daughters, Helen Jolly and her husband, Mike, of Jonesville and Anna Brown and her husband, Robert, of Union; four grandchildren, Michael Spears Jolly, III and Haley Anna Jolly of Jonesville and Robert White “Bobby” Brown, III and Angela Grace Elliott Brown of Union; four sisters, Bertha Fowler and Jo Knox, both of Union, Marguerite Bushnell of Palm Coast, Fla., and Janie Bollinger of Norris, Tenn.; two brothers, Jefferson Frazier Keith Jr. and Stonie Keith, both of Union. She was predeceased by three brothers, Martin Cleveland Keith, Robert Lee Keith and William Tanner Keith.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Mrs. Free’s caregivers, Sherry Howell, Joyce Neal, Jackie Smith, Sharon Williford and Melinda Sorrow.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday , September 27, 2010, at Jonesville United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Jim Ivey. Burial will be in Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be- Dr. David Keith, James Littlejohn, Mark Gallman, Jimmy Robinson, Tommy Cunningham , Al Seaburg and W.J. Scales.
The family received friends from 7:00 until 9:00 PM Sunday night at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Marian Adams Alexander, age 81, widow of Leroy Alexander, formerly of Lockhart Hwy., Union, passed away, Saturday September 25, 2010 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Union, June 29, 1929, a daughter of the late Robert Smith Adams and Thelma Lawson Adams. She was a retired beautician having owned and operated Marian's Beauty Shop. Mrs. Alexander was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters: Carolyn A. Lawson and husband Maxie of Buffalo, Beth A. Wilson and husband Gene of Columbia, and Lea Ann A. Fox and friend Billy Tessinger of Union; one son: Ken Alexander and wife Sandra of Laurens; four sisters: Pearl A. Farr and husband James, Mary Ann Adams, Betty Inman and Bobbie Ruth Synder all of Union; two sisters-in-law: Doris Adams and Ruth Ann Adams; 7 grandchildren: Angie Roberson (Ronnie), Greg Alexander (Julie), Jon Alexander (Amy), Alison Quaranta (Sean), Leigh Abee, Blake Painter, Jeff Abee; 8 great-grandchildren: Jill Brooks (John), Jenna McAbee, Jon Matheson Alexander, Thomas Alexander, Noah Alexander, Lily Kathryn Alexander, Gabrielle Alexander and Jackson Alexander. Mrs. Alexander was predeceased by two brothers: Gene Adams and R.S. Adams, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 PM Monday, September 27, 2010 at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Benny Green and Rev. Alan West.

Billy Joe Cook, Jr.

Mr. Billy Joe Cook, Jr, age 48, husband of Arlene Sumner Cook of 279 Duncan Avenue, Buffalo, SC died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Regency Hospital, Greenville, SC after a brief illness.

Mr Cook was born in Tampa, FL November 24, 1961, a son of Billy Joe Cook, Sr of Hudson, FL and the late Nina Spillers Cook. He was employed with Holcombe Funeral Home and was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle of God where he served as a deacon.

Surviving in addition to his wife and father are two sons: Billy Joe Cook, III of Union and Terry Len Cook of Greenwood; five brothers: Rev. Rick Cook of Buffalo, Randy Cook, Timothy Cook, Ronnie Cook all of Union and Bobby Hutcherson of Thompson, GA and four grandchildren. Mr. Cook was predeceased by two sisters: Cynthia Ireland and Martha Dougherty and a brother, Marty Cook.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 25, 2010 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Rick Cook and Rev. Don Moore. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Linda "Sue" Brown
Union, S.C.

Mrs. Linda "Sue" Parham Brown, age 56, wife of Dean Brown of 115 College St. Union, passed away, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 after a six year battle with cancer.

Mrs. Brown was born in Union, February 28, 1954, a daughter of the late Levada Eugene Parham and Evelyn Davis Parham. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Brown, along with her husband, were members of the BPO Elks Lodge # 1321.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters: Melinda Richardson and husband Jeff, Vickie Lipsey and husband Chad all of Union and Shonna Hall and husband Tommy of Roebuck; one son: Danny Clayton and wife Brandi of Union; one sister: JoAnn Gist and husband Terry of Fountain Inn; three brothers: Ricky Parham and wife Theresa of Union, Rev. Walter Parham and wife Rachel of Columbia and William Parham and wife Tootsie of Florence; brothers-in-law: Jerry Brown and wife Sherry, Billy Brown and wife Becky and Clifford Brown and wife Betty all of Union; a sisters -in-law: Elaine Black and husband Stewart and Teresa Humphries all of Union; a very, very special friend, Cathy Howell of Union and her baby puppy, Abbie Gee Gee Brown; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Hebron Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Larry Padgett and Rev. Walter Parham. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Billy "Bubba" Brown, Tack Brown, Mike White, David Stephens, Jamie Johnson, Kevin Scott, Pete Parham, and B.J. Brown. Judith Parks Medford Ivey
Prosperity, S.C.

Mrs. Judith Parks Medford Ivey, age 72, wife of Robert J. "Bob" Ivey of Prosperity, passed away, Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Heritage at Lowman.

Mrs. Ivey was born in Union, June 7, 1938, a daughter of the late Weaver R. Medford and Sara Johnson Parks Medford. Following graduation of Union High School, she attended Cecil's Business College and subsequently she and her husband worked for the FBI in Washington, DC. As the wife of an FBI agent, she traveled and established homes in eight states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico before returning to South Carolina in 1984. She was a member of the Wightman United Methodist Church in Prosperity.

Her hobbies were primarily gardening and tending to her flowers and birds at her home on Lake Murray. She especially enjoyed visiting her favorite city of Charleston, SC. Mrs. Ivey loved her family and was especially proud of her three grandsons. She was predeceased by her brother and best-friend, Larry "Bo" Parks of Union.

She is survived by Bob, her husband of fifty-three years; a daughter: Relda Saress Ivey of Austin TX; a son: Robert J. Ivey, Jr. and wife Lynn of Irmo and their three sons: Scott, Steven and Sean Ivey. Also surviving are her sister-in-law: Charlotte K. Parks; her devoted cousin: L.C. Johnson both of Union and nieces Holly Coffer and Jill Jones.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, September 26, 2010 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Pastor Michael Turner of Wightman United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Sunday prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Ivey and her family request that memorials be made to Lutheran Hospice, 1505 Blanding St., Columbia, SC, 29201.

Hubert Inman Farr
Union, SC

Mr. Hubert Inman Farr, age 80, husband of Sara Ann Howell Farr of 1748 Pea Ridge Hwy, Jonesville, SC died Monday, September 20, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Farr was born in the Kelton Community of Union County, SC September 30, 1929, a son of the late Whit Farr and Christine Inman Farr. He was a 1945 graduate of Kelly Pinckney High School and was a lifelong worshiper at Mt. Joy Baptist Church where he was member of the Men's Bible Class.

Mr. Farr retired as a farmer in 1985 and also retired from the Torrington Company in 2002. He continued to do work at the Timken Company through December 2007. Mr. Farr was a member and former director of the Union County Farm Bureau and a member and director of Union County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was awarded a medal for his Outstanding Accomplishments in Resource Conservation in 1991.

Mr Farr was the last surviving member of his immediate family.Surviving in addition to Sara Ann, his wife of sixty-two years, are a daughter, Lorrie Ann Farr Schmitt and husband Tad of Chapin; a son, Larry Farr and wife Patsy of Moore; four grandchildren: Whitney Farr and wife Lynne, Richard Farr, Jessica Schmitt and Corey Schmitt. Mr. Farr was predeceased by a brother, William Curtis Farr.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Mt. Joy Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alan West and Dr. James D. Spencer, III. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tony Farr, John Garner, Wayne Hutcherson, Roy Little, Ernest Morris and Keith Vanderford. Members of Mt. Joy Baptist Church Men's Bible Class are asked to sit in a group.

Kenneth D. Royster
Union, SC

Mr. Kenneth D. Royster, age 66, husband of Mary Marsha McAbee Royster, of 612 Kelly Rd. Union, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Restorative Care.

Mr. Royster was born in Union, SC February 5, 1944, a son of the late George Alfred and Cecille Johns Royster. He was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg Technical College.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Nicole Gregory and husband Ronnie of Union; a sister: Brenda Lawson and husband Ronnie of Putman; two grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Royster was pre-deceased by a brother: George A. "Dickie" Royster.

Mr. David Lee Tessnear, age 46, husband of Cindy Ramsey Tessnear, of 324 Burnt Gin Road, Gaffney S C went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Mary Black Hospital after a sudden illness.

Mr. Tessnear was born in Spartanburg June 27, 1964 a son of the late Charles Edward and Anthonette Viola Linder Tessnear.

Mr. Tessnear was a member of Living Word Praise and Worship of Mayo where he served as Sunday School Supertindant

Surviving in addition to his wife are 4 daughters; Taylor Davis, Samantha (Robbie) Sexton of Roebuck, Jessica (Shannon) Cook of Cowpens, Kasie Tessnear of Cowpens, 5 sons; J.J. Bailey of the home, Chavis and Lucas Tessnear of Jonesville, David Sprouse of Chesnee, Josh Tessnear of Gaffney, 2 sisters; Linda Tessnear of Pacolet and Mary Harris of Tryon, N.C., 2 brothers; Lee Tessnear (Patsy) of Pacolet and Paul Tessner (Loretta) of Union, and 8 grandchildren.

Mr. W. Harold Culbertson, age 76, husband of Margaret Turner Culbertson of 237 Wesley Chapel Road Union, went home to be with the Lord at his home on Saturday, September 18, 2010 after a long illness.

Mr. Culbertson was born in Lockhart, SC February 16, 1934, the son of the late Clyde and Alice Culbertson. Mr. Culbertson was a graduate of Lockhart High School and was retired from Milliken Cedar Hill Plant. He was also retired from the SC Army National Guard and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Melinda Crocker and husband Randy of Union, a son, Philip Culbertson and wife Karen of Seneca SC, 4 grandchildren; Christy Medlin and husband Tony of Six mile SC, Jennifer Roberts and husband Brandon of Union, Steven Culbertson of West Union, SC and Joshua Crocker of Conway, SC, 2 great-grandchildren; Lane and Chase Medlin of Six Mile, SC. Mr. Culbertson was pre-deceased by 2 sisters, Doris Gregory and Katherine Brucker.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 20, 2010 at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Tim Huckaby. Mr. John Wesley " Johnny" Morris, age 58, of 442 Pointe Drive, Garden City, SC died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Morris was born in Union, SC January 25, 1952, a son of the late William Morris and Wilsie Grady Morris. He was a graduate of Union High School and University of S.C., Columbia. Mr. Morris was a retired painting contractor and attended Murrells Inlet Baptist Church.

Surviving are his spouse, Pat Johnston of the home; a sister, Carolyn Stepp and husband Richard of North Augusta; a brother, William Donald Morris of Woodruff; an aunt, Helen Davis of Union and a niece. Mr Morris was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Lewis Morris.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, September 19, 2010 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Mrs. Nellie Sue Betenbaugh Davis, age 86, widow of Thomas W. Davis, died September 15, 2010 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Davis was born in Union, March 6, 1924, a daughter of the late Douglas Morris Betenbaugh and Lola Gregory Betenbaugh and grand-daughter of the late J.C. and Bertha Young and T.J. and Susan Betenbaugh.

She was retired from the N.C. Dept of Agriculture and was a civilian employee with the Dept. of Defense during WWII. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Union High School and a graduate of business college in Charlotte, NC.

Surviving are a niece: Janet Robinson Levine and husband Robert of Baltimore, MD; a nephew: Ralph D. Robinson of Falls Church, VA; a great-nephew: Jamie Robinson. She was predeceased by a sister, Hazel B. Robinson and husband Ralph.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Larry Padgett. Nephews of Frances Vaughan, Mrs. Davis' cousin and special caregiver for many years, will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family is grateful for her special caregivers and staff at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home for their care and love shown to Mrs. Davis.

Ms. Janie Lavonia Taylor, age 77, of 698 Jeffries Farm Rd., Jonesville, SC died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Ms. Taylor was bon in Spartanburg County, SC January 21, 1933, a daughter of the late Liam Taylor and Nellie Horton Taylor. She was a member of the Salvation Army Citidal.

Surviving are two sons: Wayne Taylor and wife Ann of Pauline and Ricky Taylor and wife Julie of Union; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Miss Taylor was predeceased by a son, Tony Taylor and two sisters, Frances Taylor and Lucille Bradburn.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Branch.

Mrs. Debra Sue Haney, age 58 of 401 Drug Store Street, Buffalo, SC, widow of the late Bobby Dean Haney died Sunday, September 12, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Haney was born in Union, SC September 29, 1951, a daughter of the Ruth Davis Johnson of Union and the late Fred Johnson. She was a graduate of Union High School, Class of 1969 and Spartanburg Technical College. Mrs. Haney was employed with Dollar General Distribution Center and formerly worked with her late husband as owner and operator of Bobs Gulf. She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Amanda Armstrong of the home and Sherry A. Kerr and husband Howard of Buffalo; a son, Neal Armstrong and wife Suzann of Jonesville; two step-daughters: Jo Fredia Goode and Patricia Lynn Bobo; a step-son, Perry Haney and wife Vickie all of Union; a brother, Mike Johnson of Buffalo; six grandchildren a niece, Michelle Johnson of Buffalo and a nephew, Dallas Sims of Spartanburg. Mrs Haney was predeceased by a grandchild Chelsea Horne and a sister, Diane Sims.

Mr. Wood was born in Union, SC March 28, 1940, a son of the late Daniel Wylie Wood and Willie Austin Wood. He attended both Lakeside Baptist Church and New Life Baptist Church. Mr Wood was formerly employed with Greenwood Mills.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: Jeff Wood and wife Denise of Roebuck, Rev. Stephen Berry and wife Sandy and Rev. David Berry and wife Melanie all of Union; a daughter, Crystal Earls and husband Jackie of Union; eleven grandchildren: Jadea, Courtney, Logan, Peighton,Whitney and Joshua Berry, Ryleigh and Connor Earls, Bobby , Joshua and Bradley Godfrey; four sisters: Dianne Webb of Joanna, Frances Gayle Wood, Pamela Vaughan and husband Chris all of Union and Darlene Scogin of Joanna; a number of nieces, nephews and dear friends, John and Lucy Jenkins and Carl D. Miss Carole Jean Shetley, age 63, of Buena Vista II, Apt 8A, Union, SC died Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Miss Shetley was born in Union, SC August 24, 1947, a daughter of the late Woodrow "Fat" Shetley and Dorothy J. Johnson Smith. She was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church. Miss Shetley retired as office manager of First Choice Check Advance and had formerly worked in textiles.

Surviving are a sister, Annie S. Robinson of Union; a brother, James T. Shetley and wife Helen of Jonesville; five nephews: Pete Shetley, Gene Shetley, Earl Shetley, Dennis Shetley all of Union and Jamie Shetley of Jonesville and several great nieces and nephews. Miss Shetley was predeceased by a nephew, Walter Shetley.

Memorial services will be held 4:00 PM Friday, September 10, 2010 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson.

Mrs. Betty Morris Vanderford, age 93, widow of Torrence F. Vanderford, formerly of Lockhart, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home after a long illness.

Mrs. Vanderford was born December 17, 1916, in Noxapater, MS, a daughter of the late A.E. Morris and Clara Massey Morris. She was a graduate of Noxapater High School and a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Vanderford was a retired textile worker having worked in Union and Lockhart Mill.

Surviving are a son: Lawrence L. Vanderford and wife Dianne of Union; a grandson: Lemond Vanderford of Union; two sisters: Hazel Round and husband Jim and Eva Burt and husband Jim all of Noxapater, MS; one brother: George Morris and wife Sue of Myrtle Beach; great-grandchildren: Kayla Vanderford and Caleb Vanderford.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 9, 2010 at Philippi Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale.

Mr. Parkins was born in Union, SC January 21, 1983, a son of Lisa Nichols of Union and the late Leslie Dale Parkins. He was a graduate of Cornerstone High School and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Mr. Parkins was a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a daughter, Ailaina Michelle Parkins and her mother Samantha Hinton of the home; two sisters: Ashley Nichols of Union and Kristen Parkins of Chester; a brother, Andrew Nichols; a grandmother, Brenda Thompson and a step-grandfather, Randy Nichols all of Union.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, September 9, 2010 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

Mr. Edward J. Yutz, Jr., age 77, husband of Carol Healey Yutz of 306 Lakeview Heights, Union, died unexpectedly Saturday, September 4, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Yutz was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, December 30, 1932, a son of the late Edward Joseph, Sr. and Elizabeth Yutz. He was self employed owner of Viking Air Conditioning and Repair. A veteran of the U.S. Marines having served during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Diane DeHart and husband Tim, and Kerry Ann Yutz both of Union; two sons: Edward Joseph Yutz, III and wife Vikena, and Joseph Edward Yutz and wife Angela both of GA; two sisters: Lillian Lawler and Pauline Rhan of New Jersey; one brother: Robert Yutz of New Jersey; grandchildren: Melissa DeHart Gentry and husband Robbie, Matthew T. DeHart, Michael Blake Baldwin, Timothy Chase Baldwin and George Edward Yutz; one great-grandson: Levi Gentry.

Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, September 6, 2010 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Randy Smith.

Mr. Adams was born in Union, November 6, 1947, a son of the late Robert Smith Adams, Sr. and Thelma Lawson Adams. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School, the University of South Carolina, Union and was employed with Farrell Chevrolet Body Shop. Mr. Adams was retired from the S.C. National Guard and was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Elizabeth Adams Winchester and husband Gary of Greenwood; one son: Robert C. Adams and wife Pamela of Woodruff; two grandchildren: Evey Adams and Madison Westmoreland; five sisters: Pearl Farr and husband James, Marian Alexander, Betty Inman, and Mary Ann Adams all of Union, Bobbie Ruth Snyder of Buffalo; one sister-in-law: Doris Adams of Union. Mr. Adams was predeceased by a brother, R.S. Adams, Jr.

Mr. Alvin Lewis Cabaniss, age 72 of 112 Deer Run Rd., Union, SC, widower of Ione Stivers Cabiness died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Oakmont of Union.

Mr. Cabaniss was born in Lockhart, SC May 20, 1938, a son of the late Rev. W.H. Cabaniss and Daisy Lee Gregory Cabaniss. He retired from Sonoco Products and was a Veteran of the US Air Force. Mr. Cabaniss was of the Church of God faith and was an avid photographer.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheri Gibson of Greeley, CO; a son, Stephen Cabaniss of Arvada, CO; a step-son, Allen Cabaniss of Canada; five grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; two brothers: Earl Cabaniss and Larry Cabaniss both of Lockhart; five sisters: Mildred Black of Lockhart, Doris Gainey of Cheraw, Peggy Thomas of Gray Court, Elaine Gaston of Lockhart and Alice Sanders of Union. Mr. Cabaniss was predeceased by four brothers: Jack Cabaniss, Ralph "Buddy" Cabaniss, Harold Cabaniss and William David "Flip" Cabaniss.
