Elizabeth Blakley Belue
Union, SC

Mrs. Elizabeth Blakley Belue, wife of Henry Belue of 215 Third St. Ottaray, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 29, 2011 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Belue was born in Union, a daughter of the late Lawrence Blakley and Arrie Howell Blakley.

She was a lifelong resident of Union, a homemaker and attended Lakeside Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, Henry, Mrs. Belue is survived by a son Ronald Belue of the home.

She was predeceased by a brother; J. W. Howell and a sister; Doris Jennings.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb.

The family will receive friends after the graveside service at the cemetery.

Lillian Z. Holcombe
Buffalo, S.C.

Mrs. Lillian Z. Holcombe, age 90, widow of Sidney E. Holcombe of 110 South St., Buffalo, passed away, Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Holcombe was born in Newberry, September 18, 1920, a daughter of the late James Parris Zimmerman and Essie Mae Walker Zimmerman. She was retired from United Merchants, Buffalo Plant and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church where she was a former member of the WMU and treasurer of her Sunday school class. Mrs. Holcombe was a volunteer with the Union Co. Meals on Wheels and the Union Co. Council on Aging. She had been named Women of the Year (1998) by WBCU Radio and Volunteer of the Year (1993) with the Buffalo Senior Citizens Center.

Surviving are a son: Sidney Edwin Holcombe, Jr. and wife Faye of Gastonia, NC; a brother: Ralph Zimmerman and wife Jackie of Louisiana; three grandchildren: Sidney Edwin Holcombe, III (Trey) and wife Bonny, Christopher Holcombe and wife Maggie and Jeanna Lynn Walters; a great-grandson: Benjamin Cole Walters. Mrs. Holcombe was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Holcombe, two brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 29, 2011 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Johnny Burgess and Rev. Wayne Cook. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Trey Holcombe, Christopher Holcombe, Scottie Zimmerman, Chad Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, Jr., and Allen Braxton.

Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 PM Thursday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Stanley Byron Teague
Formerly of Union

Mr. Stanley Byron Teague age 63 of 1155 Lakeshore Drive, Cross Hill, SC, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Hospice House of Piedmont in Greenwood.

Mr. Teague was born in Union County, SC June 6, 1947, a son of the late Elmer G. Teague and Faye Reeves Teague. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired as a heating and air conditioner specialist. Mr. Teague also retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

He was a Veteran of the US Air Force; attended Cedarwood Community Church of Waterloo and was a lifetime member of John A Fant Masonic Lodge #334.

Surviving are four brothers: Phillip Hendrix and wife Vi, Earl Teague and wife Peggy, Bruce Teague and wife Betty and Dennis Teague and wife Debbie; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Teague was predeceased by two brothers: Carroll Teague and Pinckney Teague.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2011 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill Adams. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.

Active pallbearers will be Dennis Pollard, Ronnie O’Dell, Tommy Watkins, Perry Buice, Gene Lamb, Larry Tyler and J.B. Bramlett.

Vistation will be held 1:30-2:45 PM Thursday in the chapel prior to the service.

Mrs. Dorothy Trammel Holcombe, age 84, of 1719 Mt. Tabor Church Rd., Jonesville, SC, widow of Gordon Harold Holcombe, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 23, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Holcombe was born in the Kelton Community, SC , August 15, 1925, a daughter of the late Mike T. Trammel and Bertha Goings Trammel.

She was a graduate of Kelly Pickney High School and was a homemaker.

Mrs Holcombe was a member of Mt. Joy Baptist Church where she was a member of the Marian Harris Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a niece, Joyce T. McDade and husband Neal of Union; two nephews: Terry Trammel of Jonesville and Steve Trammel and wife Debbie of Union; two sister-in-laws, Vera Trammel of Union and Nadean Vinson of Spartanburg; a brother-in-law, Hope Holcombe and wife Carrie of Jonesville and a number of other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2011 at Mt.

Joy Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alan West. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Michael McDade, Dan Sherbert, Matthew Farr, Josh Jennings, Gene Vinson and Ricky Varner.

Visitation will be held 6:00-7:00 PM Sunday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

Kathy Hill Harris

Ms. Kathy Hill Harris, age 52, of 296 Meansville Rd., Apt G3, Union, SC died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Ms. Harris was born in Union County, SC March 8, 1959, a daughter of Inez Brazell Hill Williams of Union and the late Grady Leonard Hill.

She was a graduate of Union High School and was formerly employed with National Textiles of Gaffney and Kelly One Stop. Ms. Harris attended Beulah Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her mother are three daughters: Misty Wright and husband Randall of Jonesville, Nicole Harris and Brooke H. Smith and husband Kyle all of Union; a sister, Wendy Smith and husband Ricky of Santuc; two brothers: Michael Hill and wife Lisa of Buffalo and Timothy Hill and wife Kim of Union; a step-father, Thomas Williams of Union; five grandchildren: Christian Wright, Parker Wright both of Jonesville, Kayleigh Harris, Caden Inman and Kynlee Smith all of Union; a number of nieces, nephews and a special friend, Jimmy Reynolds.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Beulah Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Truitt and Rev. Scott Cobb.

Burial will be in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be James Garner, Jason Watters, Josh Pridemore, Buddy Harris, Ricky Smith and Reggie Alexander.

John A. Brock
Buffalo, SC

Mr. John A. Brock, husband of Ollie Mae West Brock of 248 Putman Rd., Buffalo, SC went home be with the Lord Thursday, May 21, 2011 at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.

Mr. Brock was born in Union County, SC May 1, 1931, a son of the late Robert Brock and Jennie V. Ford Byrd. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Duke Power. Mr. Brock served in the US Air Force for twenty-two years. He was a member of Putman Baptist Church.

Surviving in addtion to his wife are a daughter, Terrie Elaine Filer and husband Gary of Forest City, NC; a son, James P. Brock of Chickopee,MA.; three step-daughters: Peggy Judy of Union, Linda Harrold of Tulsa, OK and Mary Long of Iowa; four step-sons: Pete Judy of Buffalo, Richard Watts of Union, Ray Watts and Kavin Watts both of Kansas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Brock was predeceased by two children: Teresa McAbee and Travis Brock and a step-daughter, Kay Hensel.

A Memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2011 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. R. B. Ashley.

Visitation will be held in the chapel following the service.

Mr. Fred G. West, age 72, husband of Janis Varner West of 204 Old Shetley Place, Union, SC went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his home.

Mr. West was born in Union County, SC April 2, 1939, a son of the late Hartsell West and Lucille Lawson West. He was formerly employed with Daniels Construction Company and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Mr. West attended Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and was a former Mason and Shriner.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty years are a daughter, Kathy Morrow and husband Steve of Jonesville; a son, Ernie West and wife Celeste of Union; a sister, Shirley Mitchell of Union; a brother, Bobby West of Spartanburg; four grandchildren: Kayla Scott, Jerrad Scott both of Jonesville, Dustin West of Union and Mac Morrow of Ft. Riley, Kansas.

Mr. West was predeceased by a brother, Larry West and a sister-in-law, Brenda West.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2011 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Randy Smith and Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Edgar Allan Wood
Union, SC

Mr. Edgar Allan “Booter” Wood, age 50 of 111 Excelsior Avenue, Union, SC died Monday, April 18, 2011.

Mr. Wood was born in Union, SC December 3, 1960, a son of Joyce Snowden Wood of Union and the late Edgar Leroy Wood. He was a graduate of Union High School; was formerly employed with Renfro and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are a daughter, Lacey Wade and husband Seth of Germany; two sisters: Cindy Vinson and husband Wayne and Crystal Quinn and husband Robby all of Union; a grandson, a number of nieces, nephews and a best friend “Winnie”. Mr. Wood was predeceased by an infant son and a brother, Daniel Wood.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2011 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Neil Keisler. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.

Jack Richbourg
Union, S.C.

Graveside services for Jack Brunson Richbourg, 85, of103 Hidden Hill Road, Union, will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, April 21, at Union Memorial Gardens in Union, with the Rev. Spencer Ledford and the Rev. Robert Emory officiating. The family will receive friends following services at the cemetery.

Mr. Richbourg died Tuesday, April 19, 2011.

He was born in Greenville, S.C. on June 2, 1925, a son of the late Edward Brunson Richbourg and Inez Moore Richbourg. He was a co-owner of Richbourg Furniture Company, and had retired from Dudley Softball Equipment Company and the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps in World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Richbourg also worked as a chemist for the University of Tennessee at Oak Ridge.

He attended Union County Schools. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a member of IPTAY. Mr. Richbourg was a member of First Baptist Church of Union and the American Legion.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jeanette Greene Richbourg of the home; a daughter, Susan Richbourg Fairey (William) of Sarasota, Florida; and one granddaughter, Austin Leigh Fairey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Sarasota, Florida.

James Floyd Tucker
Union S.C.

Mr. James Floyd Tucker age 82, husband of 63 years to Mary Miller Tucker of 627 Brown’s Creek Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Regency Hospital of Greenville.

Mr. Tucker was born in Union, October 18, 1928, a son of the late Walter G. and Leoria Davis Tucker. He was retired from the furniture industry and had previously been custodian at First Baptist Church. Mr. Tucker was a veteran of the US Army and the US Navy having served during WWII. He served with the occupation force that was the first wave into Hiroshima, Japan. Mr. Tucker was a member of the American Legion Post #22 and a life member of the mates that served aboard the USS John R. Craig. He was also member of McCutchen Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Barbara Vinson and husband Stan of Simpsonville; a brother: Hugh F. Tucker and wife Linda of Union; a granddaughter: Kristy de Krafft and husband John of Greenville and their children, Riley and Bryson; nieces and nephews: Dianne Hendricks and husband Jimmy, and Steve Byrd all of Union and Tracy Butler and husband Royce of Knoxville, TN. Mr. Tucker was predeceased by a sister: Faye Byrd and two brothers: Marvin and Leroy Tucker.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Eddie Saxon.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church Relay for Life Team, 112 Bates Ave., Union, S.C. 29379.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and technicians of Austin Rehab, Dr. Robert Yannetti and staff, Dr. P.K. Switzer and staff, staff of Wallace Thomson Hospital, ICU, and Regency Hospital of Greenville for their loving care of Mr. and Mrs. Tucker.

Mr. Christopher Scott “Scotty” Sumner, age 39, husband of Monica Mitchell Sumner, of 320 Johns St., Union, died Saturday, April 16, 2011at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mr. Sumner was born in Union, SC., August 4, 1971 a son of Mary Jo Edwards Mathis of Union and the late Jerry Kenneth Sumner. He was a graduate of Union High School and employed with Jet Line of Gaffney. Mr.

Sumner was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a former member of the South Carolina National Guard Reserves where he served with the military police.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are a daughter and son of the home, Gracie Sumner and Noah Adams; two other sons Christopher Scott Sumner, II and wife Raven and Paul Wilson all of Union; a brother Brian David Sumner; a sister Melissa Foster all of Union; two granddaughters Emma Grace Wilson and Chloe Wilson; his maternal grandparents Maggie Edwards and Joseph C. Edwards of Union and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Jerry Lawson.

Alma R. Burgess
Wagener, S.C.

The Lord chose April 16, 2011 to call his child Alma Rector Burgess home to be with Him. After a long struggle, she heard his call and went home peacefully into His loving arms. Alma was a member of Temple Baptist Church and had been very active in church throughout her life. She taught Sunday School, kept the nursery and loved children.

She is survived by her son, Howard and his wife, Cindy, her brother, Billy Davis, five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of people she has touched in her life of ministry and an "adopted daughter" Martha McGaughey. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Howard Burgess, sisters Ruby Farr and Helen Rector, brothers Jimmy, Norman, and Elmer Rector.

The celebration service will be Tuesday, April 19th, 2011. Visitation will begin at 2:45 with the funeral service starting at 3:30 at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel in Union, SC.

Thomas B. Youngblood

Mr. Thomas B. “Barry” Youngblood, age 51, of 523 Mt. Tabor Church Road, Union, SC., died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at his home.

Mr. Youngblood was born in Chester Co., December 14, 1959, a son of Elaine Porter Youngblood of Union and the late Thomas B. Youngblood, Sr.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lockhart and a 1978 graduate of Lockhart High School.

Surviving in addition to his mother are three sisters: Kimberly Youngblood and husband Jeff Goldman of Union, Tonya Revis and husband Donald of Pacolet and Robin Childers of Union; a special cousin: John B Gilfillan of Sharon; a special friend: Monty Allen of Nashville, TN; four nieces: Cheyenne Goldman and Cierra Goldman both of Union, Rhiannon Revis of Pacolet and Alaina Jane Inman of Union; and a number of aunts and uncles. Mr. Youngblood was predeceased by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. John Andrew Youngblood and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Lee Porter.

Memorial services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 21, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Lockhart conducted by the Rev. Ben Hill.

Grady P. Blackwell
Jonesville, SC

Mr. Grady P. Blackwell, age 87, husband of Betty Goforth Blackwell, of 206 Haile St., Jonesville, SC., died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at his home following a brief illness.

Mr. Blackwell was born in Union, SC., September 4, 1923, a son of the late W.T. Blackwell and Bertie Ivey Blackwell. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII, a graduate of Jonesville High School and retired from the SC Regional Housing Authority. Mr. Blackwell was a member of Gilead Baptist Church and also served as a Sunday School teacher. He was a former National Guardsman in Jonesville.

Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-four years, are a son Lynn Blackwell and wife Kim of Jonesville; a sister Ruby Hodge and husband Donald of Jonesville; a brother Greer Blackwell of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren: Taylor and Peyton Blackwell of Jonesville; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Blackwell was predeceased by two brothers: Charles Blackwell and Archie Blackwell, and two sisters: Lucille Harvey and Mable Genoble.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM, Monday, April 18, 2011 at Gilead Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Lawton Neeley and Rev. Ralph Brown. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Military Honors.

Active pallbearers will be Terry McNeace, Clay Hodge, Mark Blackwell, Ray Goforth, Tim Henderson and Doran Eaves. The following are asked to sit in a group: Roy Rector, the teacher and the members of the Men’s Sunday School Class.

Elwood Edwin Hella
Union, SC

Mr. Elwood Edwin Hella, age 79, of 107 Hidden Hill Rd., Union, SC., widower of Joan Hella, died Friday, April 15, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hella was born in Calumet, Michigan, October 27, 1931, a son of the late Theodore Hella and Minnie Tervo Hella. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Qwest, attended the University of New Mexico and was a member of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Union. Mr. Hella was a member of the Lions Club in Union, the American Legion Post 22, Elks Lodge 1321 and the Table of Wisdom-Bantam Chef. He also was a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America and Augsburg Widows and Widowers.

Survivors are three daughters: Nanci Hella-Diz of New Mexico Linda Kimmel of Maryland, and Patty Vaughan and husband Simp, with whom he made his home in Union; two sons: Roy Hella and wife Jane of New Mexico and Loren Adcox and wife Josie of California; a brother, Roy Hella and wife Ginny of Michigan; a sister, June Meyers of Michigan; a son-in-law David Lowden of New Jersey; former wife Pat Hella of Union; fourteen grandchildren: Samuel Kimmel, Matt Kimmel, Joe Hella, Molly Hella, Joseph Diz, Aubrey Diz, Andy Hella, Megan Vaughan Dunlap, Whitney Vaughan, Katie Gonzales, Connie Freeman, Sara Thompson, Chris Thomas and Louie Nunes; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Hella was predeceased by daughters Cheryl Hella Gonzales and Constance Adcox Lowden and one brother Weldon Hella.

Memorial Services will be held 3:30 PM, Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Augsburg Lutheran Church in Union conducted by Rev. Carroll Robinson. Inurnment and service will be at St. Michaels All Angels Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico at a date and time to be announced later.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mr. James L. “Jamie” Parkins, Jr., age 47, husband of Jeannie Quinn Parkins, of 2409 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC., died Friday, April 15, 2011 at his home after a sudden illness.

Mr. Parkins was born in Union, SC., June 16, 1963, a son of Barbara Cody Parkins and the late James L. Parkins, Sr. He was a high school graduate and worked as an electrician.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Brandon James Parkins and wife Danielle and Adam Chance Parkins both of Union; four brothers: Scott Parkins and Timmy Wade both of Union, Stephen Wade of Charleston, and Stan Hindman of St. Louis. Mr. Parkins was predeceased by a sister: Kelly Davis.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2011 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Mr. Timmy Wade.

Mr. Robert Eugene Floyd, age 56, of 270 Oakland Rd. Lot 4, Union, SC, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Floyd was born in Union County, SC June 25, 1954, a son of the late William Monroe Floyd and Gwendelyn Martin Floyd.

Floyd of Piedmont, Charles Floyd and wife Elaine of Jonesville, Billy Floyd of Pauline, Bobby Dean Floyd of Jonesville and Tommy Floyd and wife Elizabeth of Gaffney and numerous nices, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mrs. Muriel Lawson Babb, age 86, wife of Ted Babb of 2008 Whitmire Hwy, Union, SC, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Oakmont Nursing Home.

Mrs. Babb was born in Union County, SC February 14, 1925, a daughter of the late Dedie Lawson and Cornelia O’Shields Lawson. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from United Merchants-Union Plant.

Mrs. Babb was predeceased by four sisters: Lila Lawson, Lillian Shaw, Mae Flora Crisp and Nina Lawson and four brothers: Foster Lawson, J.C. Lawson, Martin Lawson and Maurice Lawson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Jerry Lawson.

Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the service.

Mrs. Lois Wood Brank, age 90, widow of Floyd "Pappy" Brank formerly of Bennett St. Union, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.

Mrs. Brank was born in Lockhart, January 31, 1921, a daughter of the late Elzie B. Wood and Mamie Robinson Wood. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Lockhart High School in 1943 and was a sales clerk with Tinsley’s Jewelers. Mrs. Brank served as Lay Leader at the Lockhart United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Later, she and her husband joined the former Westside Baptist Church in Union.

Surviving are a niece: Peggy W. Sanders and husband Wallace of Pacolet; three nephews: J. B. Wood and wife Dana of McConnells, Ernest B. Wood and wife Ruth and Kent Wood and wife Kelly all of Union. Mrs. Brank was predeceased by two brothers: Boyd and Boyce Wood.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2011 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Joshua Freeman.

The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

Mr. Billy Dean Bates, age 62, widower of Belinda Kay Bates formerly of Gastonia, NC, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2011.

Mr. Bates was born in Alabama, September 29, 1948 a son of the late Otis Dean Byrd and Minnie Pearl Bates Byrd and was reared in the home of Jim and Lottie Bates. He was a high school graduate and former textile worker. Mr. Bates was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Vietnam War.

Surviving are a daughter: Tabitha Bates of York; two step-daughters: Elizabeth Melton and Linda Walker both of Gastonia, NC; two step-sons: Jesse Smith of Dallas, NC and Donald Smith of Cherryville, NC; four sisters: Elizabeth Fowler, Debra Coats, Wendy Fowler and Lisa Fowler, with whom he made his home, all of Union; two brothers: Tommy Bright of GA and Mike Fowler of Union; seven grandchildren: Mayce, Alexis, Tony, Stephanie, Emily, Tiffany and Roger; 2 great-grandchildren: Joshua and Kayleb; special friends: Anna Marie Jefferies, April Sherbert and Eddie Price. Mr. Bates was predeceased by two sisters: Jackie Garrett and Janie Sinclair and one brother: Jerry Byrd.

Mr. James A. "Jim" Spencer, age 81, husband of Ann Lockey Spencer of 114 Peakville Rd. Buffalo passed away Friday, April 8, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Spencer was born in Cherokee Co., November 22, 1929, a son of the late Willie Lee "Bill" Spencer and Pearl Elizabeth Golden Spencer. He was a graduate of Gaffney High School and was a retired construction site manager. Mr. Spencer was a Shriner and a mason being a member of the Gaffney Lodge # 186 and was a member of Putman Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters: Diane Mills and husband Doug of Gaffney , Judy Hall and husband Ralph of Landrum, Stephanie Rooth of Buffalo and Tammy Castagno and husband Joe of Florida; one son: Jason Alexander Spencer and wife Amy of Union; two sisters: Helen Foster and Willie McSwain and husband Robert all of Gaffney; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Spencer was predeceased by a son, James Albert "Jimmy" Spencer, Jr and a brother, Bobby Dean Spencer.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 11, 2011 at Putman Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb, Rev. R.B. Ashley and Rev. Dr. Ted Hodges. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic Rites.

Mrs. Agnes Inez Tucker Inabinett, age 79, wife of Ronald L. Inabinett of 424 Church Street, Buffalo, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg.

Mrs. Inabinett was born in Enoree, February 21, 1932, a daughter of the late Jewitt Thomas Tucker and Agatha Massey Pruitt Tucker. She was a graduate of Union High School and was a retired textile worker having worked for United Merchants Plants at both Union and Buffalo Plants. Mrs. Inabinett was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters: Melinda I. Wages and husband Benjamin of Buffalo, Becky Billings and husband Eric of Enoree and Pam Farmer and husband Sammy of Pauline; four grandchildren: Ben Wages and wife Letitia, and Ed Wages all of Buffalo, Heather Farmer of Pauline and Erica Mosley and husband Ben of Inman; four great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Jaryn, Rett and Kayden Wages; and a sister: Bessie Pheiffer and husband Ray of Florida. Mrs. Inabinett was predeceased by three sisters: Beatrice Billings, Annie Pearl Sanford and Barbara Ann Tucker; and three brothers: Callie, P.D. and Curtis Tucker. Mrs. Kathry Geneil Clay Maska, widow of Edwin C. Maska age 84, of Creswell, NC, passed away, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Three Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Windsor, NC.

Mrs. Maska was born in Union, October 22, 1926 a daughter of the late Roy Lee Clay and Marie Jolly Clay. She served for thirty eight years as a Foreign Service Secretary with the U.S. Department of State and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk.

Surviving are a sister; Judy Clay Marriner and husband Tommy of Creswell, NC; a brother Gerald Roy Clay and wife Esther of Mt. Pleasant, PA; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, 2011 at 7:00 PM at Maitland Funeral Home in Creswell, NC. Burial will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Betty Lowman Hines, age 60, wife of John L. Hines, Jr. of 4002 Whitmire Hwy, Union, SC died Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hines was born in Lexington, SC April 9, 1950, a daughter of the late Owens Davis Lowman and Ester Eargle Lowman. She was a graduate of Irmo High School and was formerly employed with Conso Products.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, J.D. Hines of Union; two sisters: Edith McKillips of Lexington and Lucille Meetze of Irmo and a granddaughter, Aletha Hines. Mrs. Hines was predeceased by a son, James Lewis Hines.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 8, 2011 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Dewayne Reuter and Rev. Kenneth Holcombe.

Mrs. Gibson was born in Lockhart, October 5, 1928, a daughter of the late Samuel Nathan Valentine and Nellie King Valentine. She was retired from J.P. Stevens in Jonesville and was a member of Bullock’s Creek Presbyterian Church where she was a Choir member and a member of the Share Club.

Surviving are two daughters: Lenora Medlin and husband Hank of Hodges, and Nellie Sue McGaha of Honea Path; a son: Phillip Michael Walker and wife Donna of Greenwood; two sisters: Wilma Nix of Union and Margie Wallace of Gaffney; a step-daughter; Elizabeth Hewitt and husband Randy of Sharon; two step-sons: Steve Gibson and wife Donna of Spartanburg, and Miles "Topper" Gibson and wife Phyllis of Lockhart; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gibson was predeceased by a son, James Walker; a son-in-law, Malcom McGaha; two sisters, Ethel Landreth and Mary Sue Helms and two brothers, Nathan Valentine, Jr. and Edward Valentine.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Bullock’s Creek Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Ned Coody. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Pridemore was born in the Kelton community, a daughter of the late John and Julia Lawson Gault. She was a homemaker and a member of Duncan Acres United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a daughter; Sue Smith and husband Charlie of Kingstree 3 sons; Bobby Belue and wife Rounette and Charles Belue and wife Betty all of Kingstree and Dwight Belue and wife Cheryl of Moore, SC; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews She was pre-deceased by a son Jimmy Belue and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Duncan Acres United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz and Rev. Todd Hodge. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gist was born in Buffalo, July 10, 1933, a son of the late John Rodger Gist and Maggie Lancaster Gist. He was retired from Cone Mill and Excelsior Mill. Mr. Gist was a member of West Springs Baptist Church, a member of the Pastor’s Sunday School Class and an associate of Union Oil Mill.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Patti McNeace and husband Tim of Union and Carla Elliott and husband Neal of Buffalo; a son: Richard Carl Gist and wife Pam of Brandon, FL.; a granddaughter: Leslie Cagle and husband Carroll of Moore; a grandson: Jonathan Richard Gist of Brandon, FL.; two sisters: Frances "Hankie" Gist of Buffalo and Ruby Howell and husband Bill of Jonesville; 2 sisters and law; Jo Anne Smith and husband Earl and Jewel Lee and husband Mack both of Union. Mr. Gist was pre-deceased by two brothers; Shorty Gist and Barnett Gist.

Mr. Forrest Eugene "Gene" Phillips, age 66, of 324 Chapman Rd., Union, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at his home after a sudden illness.

Mr. Phillips was born in Buffalo, November 11, 1944, a son of the late Forrest Lee Phillips and Jessie Eller Phillilps. He was a 1963 graduate of Union High School and retired from Milliken Company-Monarch Plant. Mr Phillips had formerly worked for ADO in Spartanburg a was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard-Jonesville Unit. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Gina P. Gregory and husband Chad and Jodie P. Blackwell and husband Mark all of Jonesville; a sister, Carolyn P. Hodge and husband Stanley of Jonesville; five grandchildren: Hunter, Hagan and Harley Blackwell, Bailey and Riley Gregory; a niece: Amanda Hodge Youngblood of Greenville; and several close family members including: Scottie S. Burley, Brenda and T.J. Caldwell.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Ralph Brown and the Rev. Christopher Greene. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Linnie Posey Wells, age 67, wife of Michael W. Wells of 330 John Street, Monarch Community, Union, SC, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at her home.

Mrs. Wells was born in Union County, SC March 16, 1944, a daughter of the late William David Posey and Louise Nettie Knox Posey. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three daughters: Lisa Vinson and husband David of Buffalo, Crystal Clark and husband Brad of Woodruff and April Hogan and husband Buddy of Union; three sons: Randy Davis and wife Debbie of Buffalo, Michael Wells and wife Kristin of North Augusta, SC and Charles Heath Wells and wife Allie of Union; two

sisters: Judy Babb and husband C.L. and June Sexton and husband Johnny all of Union; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs.

Wells was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Denise Davis.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Monday, April 4, 2011 at Lakeside Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Scott Cobb. Burial will be Union Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Active pallbearers will be Cam Jones, Brady Jones, Kole Howell, David Jones, Chance Howell, Buddy Hogan and Richie Wicks.
