Mr. Michael Evans Wilson, age 55, husband of Debra Boughman Wilson of 316 Wilson Rd., Union, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Wilson was born in Union, SC April 2, 1957, a son of Evans Goodwin Wilson of Union and Hazel Mosley Swanson of Union. He was a graduate of Union High School and Spartanburg Technical College with an Associate Degree in Machinery. He was employed as a tool and dye machinist with McKechnie in Newberry. Mr. Wilson was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife, mother and father are a step-mother, Sue Wilson of Union; four daughters: Ashley Wilson, Brook Wilson, Deidre Wilson and Heather Wilson all of the home; a sister, Donna Nance and husband Mike; a brother, Ricky Wilson and wife Tilda; a step-sister, Buffy Medford; a step brother, Todd Medford all of Union; nieces and nephews: Sarah Wilson, Alexis McGowan, Lacey Medford, Kyle Nance, Ayden Boughman, Cody Harris, Dylan Rogers, Brayden Jennings and John Turner.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Salem Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Jim Wiseman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Alex Harold, Rick Mereer, Davd Friemoth, Billy Shaw, James Brown and Joe Crocker.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

Minnie Mae Palmer

Mrs. Minnie Mae Palmer, age 78 of 422 Vernon Foster Rd., Union, SC passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at the home of her daughter Pam Gault. Mrs. Palmer was the widow of Thomas I. Palmer.

Mrs. Palmer was born in Union, SC April 6, 1934, a daughter of the late Robert Smith and Julia Mae Gault Smith. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Surviving are a loving companion of six years, Delano Speedy Thomas of Union; three daughters: Pam Gault and husband Larry, Teresa Darlene Jones all of Union and Tiffany Paige Cotheran and husband Brandon of Spartanburg; a son, Tony Jones and wife Tammy; a brother, Gene Smith and wife Anita all of Union; grandchildren: Blake Leopard of Texas, Toni Danielle Jones and Dylan Sellers both of Union and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. David Lewis.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

The family is at their respective homes.

Mrs. Maude S. Black, age 91, of 204 Third Ave., Union, SC, widow of William Allen Edward Black, passed away Wednesday, afternoon, April 25, 2012, at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Mrs. Black was born in Union County, SC, December 4, 1920, a daughter of the late Lee Harry Smith and Clara Alexander Smith. She was retired from Milliken and Co.–Monarch Plant and was a member of Union Church of God.

Mrs. Black is survived by two daughters, Sara N. Thurmond and husband Robert of Jacksonville, FL, Dorothy Lary and husband Al of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Rev. Lee Walker Black and wife Lynn of Simpsonville, SC, James Thomas Black of Union; four sisters, Shirley Vanderford and husband J.B. of Mountville, SC, Louise Guyton and husband Jim and Dora Scoggins all of Union, SC and Pearl Hunt of Gastonia, NC; 11 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, and 6 Great-Great Grandchildren; a special care-giver, Leslie Parham. She was predeceased by two daughter-in-laws, Patricia Black and Rosa Lee Black.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon Friday, April 27, 2012 at the Union Church of God, conducted by Rev. Thomas Brown and Rev. Milton Hannah. Burial will follow at Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon prior to the services at Union Church of God.

Active pallbearers will be Charles Mosley, David Black, Erron Black, Lynn Black, Kevin Black, and Jeff Benson.

Peggy Sanders Henderson

Mrs. Peggy Sanders Henderson, age 77 of 717 Pea Ridge Hwy, Jonesville, widow of Louis “Cucumber” Henderson, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Regional Hospice House.

Mrs. Henderson was born in Lockhart, SC January 4, 1935, a daughter of the late Roy Sanders and Viola Barber Sanders. She retired from United Merchants & Manufacturing-Union Plant and was a member of Greater Union Church.

Surviving are two daughters: Kathy Black and husband Rick of the home and Cindy Henderson of Union; a son, Ken Henderson and wife Jeanne of Spartanburg; a sister, Mildred Crocker of Union; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Henderson was predeceased by a son, Bruce Henderson; two sisters: Hazel Crocker and Rosalee Black and a brother, Charles Ray Sanders.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at Greater Union Church conducted by Pastor Roger Estes and Pastor John Cody. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Albert Roark, Brett Burgess, Dennis Quinn, Tony Painter, Thomas Gibson and Wayne Todd.

Mary Greer Smith

Mrs. Mary Greer Smith, age 106 of 464 Bishop Rd., Union, widow of Marion Smith, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family,  Monday, April 23, 2012.

Mrs. Smith was born in Union, SC September 8, 1905, a daughter of the late Benjamin Giles Greer and Emma Lawson Greer. She was a member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church were she was very active as long a her health permitted. Mrs. Smith was a member of the WMU, former church treasurer and a Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Smith was the last surviving member of her immediate family of twelve children.

Surviving are two  daughters: Sara Treadway and husband Doug of Belvedeer and Ann Whitehead of Greenwood; two sons: Ben Smith and wife Sandra and Leonard Smith all of Union: five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jim Cunningham and Rev. Dr. Joe Smith.

Active pallbearers will be Scott Whitehead, David Whitehead, Dillon Whitehead, Johnny Vaughan, Dean Robinson and Jimmy Smith. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Donna Stewart and the staff of Harmony Hospice.

Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday in the church fellowship hall prior to the graveside service.

Miss Martha Ann Gregory, age 74, formerly of 335 Rogerstown Rd., Jonesville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home.

Miss Gregory was born in Union County, SC February 19, 1938, a daughter of the late Johnny Sharp Gregory and Mary Azlie Proctor Gregory. Miss Gregory was a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

Surviving are a sister, Mary G. Toney of Union; three brothers: B.F. Gregory and wife Cheryl of Jonesville, Charlie Gregory of Union and Wallace Eugene Gregory and wife Wanda of Pampico, SC; nine nieces and nephews: Lisa James, Mikie Gregory, Elizabeth Jenkins, Junior Jenkins, Tammy Walker, Henry Campbell, Sounday Matthews, Kyle Gregory and Robbie Gregory; fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends, Mikey Callahan and family, Katie Henderson and daughter Sarah and Ian Gault and family. Miss Gregory was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Louise Jenkins and two brothers: William Edson Gregory and Andrew Jackson Gregory.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Dr. Lawton Neely and Rev. Rick Pendleton.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.

Louise Kelly
Carlisle, S.C.


Miss Louise Kelly, age 88, of 124 Pagen Dr., Carlisle, passed away, Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home in Newberry.

Miss Kelly was born in Chester, August 13, 1923, a daughter of I.P. and Edna Carter Kelly. She was a 1942 graduate of Union High School and was retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Plant and had formerly worked with Reed’s Dept. Store. Miss Kelly was a member of Salem Baptist Church and had previously been a member of Carlisle Baptist Church. She was a member of the Good Neighbor’s Garden Club and the Carlisle Methodist Ladies Willing Workers.

Surviving are two sisters: Adlyne K. Laws of Union and Lois K. Jones of Blacksburg. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers: Irvin Ambrose Kelly, Thomas H. Kelly, Sr., and James H. Kelly and by two sisters: Margaret K. Scott, and Becky K. Bogan.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 25, 2012 at Kelly’s Chapel Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Kelly, Jr.

Active pallbearers will be the following nephews: Charlie Kelly, Paul Jones, Marc Bogan, Thomas T. Scott, Jr., Jack Humphries and Mike Ginn.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the graveside services.

Mr. Charles Allen “Buggy” Vaughan, Jr., age 51 of 306 Railroad St., Union, passed away Friday, April 20, 2012 at his home after a sudden illness.

Mr. Vaughan was born in Anderson, June 11, 1960, a son of Charles Allen Vaughan, Sr. and the late Patricia Green Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan was formerly a construction worker and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his father are his wife: Beulah Inman Vaughan of the home; three stepsons: Jonathan Griffin and wife Kauai, Samuel Inman Sr. and wife Kristi, and Sammy Inman, Jr. and wife Susan: a step-daughter: Lillie Sherfield and husband James all of Union; three sisters: Vickie Vaughan and Jean Vaughan both of PA, and Kimberly Vaughan of Augusta, GA; three aunts: Sybil Philyaw of Belton, Faye Wilkie of McCormick and Margie Pritchard of Marriet;6 grandchildren: Sierra Sherfield, Jimmy Pratt, Jr., Josh Inman, Samuel Inman, Jr., Amanda Inman, and Andy Stafford; and two great-grandchildren: Emma Inman and Jonathan Griffin.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 23, 2012 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Brian Childers. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM Monday afternoon at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

Visitation will be held from 9:45 AM until 10:45 AM at the chapel prior to the services Monday morning.

Mrs. Louise Clemmer Bolick, age 83 of 103 Partridge Rd., Union, widow of Robert Gist Bolick, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family,.

Mrs. Bolick was born in Gastonia, NC July 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Millard Clemmer and Marjorie Hampton Clemmer. She retired from Sears Service Department where she had worked in Union and Spartanburg. Mrs. Bolick was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Circle of Friends and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are two sons: Pete Bolick of the home and Robin Bolick and wife Jan of Prosperity; two brothers: George Clemmer of San Diego, CA and Ed Clemmer of Grover, NC; two grandchildren: Beth Stig and Katie Bolick and a great-granddaugher, Alexis Hamilton.

Graveside  services will be held 1:30 PM Friday, April 20, 2012 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Donna Marie Gilliam Alexander, age 52, wife of David Alexander, of 719 Lakeside Drive, Union, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Alexander was born in Union, SC on July 17, 1959, a daughter of Kelly Leon Gilliam and the late Etta Sue Mowdy Gilliam. She was a member of Christian Fellowship Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Union County Communications for 17 ½ years.

Surviving in addition to her husband and father are a daughter, Jessica A. Maynard and husband Sam of Whitmire; one son, Michael Alexander of Simpsonville, SC; one brother Doug Gilliam and wife Pam of Buffalo; her stepmother, Brenda Wood Gilliam of Buffalo; two step brothers, Tommy Wood of Cowpens, SC and Toney Wood of Buffalo, SC; one grandson, Hunter Maynard and one niece Hannah Gilliam.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Christian Fellowship Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Randy Smith. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Hattie Horne Turner

Mrs. Hattie Horne Turner, age 93, formerly of 206 Lakeview Heights, Union, widow of Samuel O. Turner, went home to be with the Lord Monday, April 16, 2012 at Oakmont of Union.

Mrs. Turner was born in Cherokee County, SC May 27, 1918, a daughter of the late Monroe Horne and Alice Worthy Horne. She was a graduate of Kelly Pinckney High School and was a member of the Piedmont Chapter of Ex POW’s. Mrs. Turner was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a daughter, Sammie T. Pfister and husand Robert of Roswell, Ga; two sons: David Turner and wife Reba of Santuc and Harold Turner and wife Karen of Union; two sisters: Mandy Lou Garner of Jonesville and Mildred Littleton of Gaffney; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Turner was predeceased by four sisters and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Bethel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Terry Mitchell and Rev. Franklin “Buddy” Morris. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Turner’s grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Bethel United Methodist Church and the staff of Oakmont of Union are asked to sit in a group.

Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Tuesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rita Jane Vaughan Hines, age 83, widow of Edward Faye Hines of 212 S. Boyce St., Union, went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family, Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Oakmont of Union.

Mrs. Hines was born in Union, November 2, 1928, a daughter of the late James Aubrey Vaughan and Bertha Henderson Vaughan. She was a graduate of Union High School and was formerly employed with Milliken and Co., and also with the Union Co. School System, First Steps Program.  Mrs. Hines was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served on the Hostess Commitee and worked with Mission Friends.

Surviving are two daughters: Rita Faye Hines of Rock Hill, and Rhonda Kaye Hines Holloman of Chapin; one son: Joe Edward Hines, Sr. and wife Rita Parks Hines of Union; two sisters: Maxine Duckett and husband Colon and Dorothy Grant and husband Larry all of Union; four grandchildren: Candee Humphries and husband Frank of Union, Joe E. Hines, Jr.  and wife Kathryn of Simpsonville, Haley E. LaMarche and husband Matthew of Columbia and Braeden Holloman of Chapin; three great-grandchildren: Zachary Humphries, Anna Grace Humphries and Hayden Elizabeth LaMarche; special friends: Dot Nichols, Evelyn Ruth Tucker and Joan and Jimmy Sumner all of Union and numerous nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Hines was predeceased by a sister, Alma Faye Vaughan and three brothers: Dean Vaughan, James Vaughan and Joe Earl Vaughan.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Chapman and Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will be at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be James Coffer, Roger Wade, Wilbur Smith, Danny Sumner, George Faucett and Brown Fant.  Honorary escort will be Tommy Anthony, Paul Greer and Sam White.

Visitation will be held at the cemetery immediately following the committal service.

Charles “Ricky” Foster

Mr. Charles “Rickey” Foster, age 58, husband of Terri Garner Foster of 420 Bailey Rd., Buffalo, passed away Thursday evening, April 12, 2012 at Wallace Thompson Hospital.

Mr. Foster was born in Union County, SC., September 3, 1953 a son of Charles N. Foster, and the late Elizabeth Cargill Foster. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church and a former truck driver.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Ricki Foster Escalante and her husband Chito, Sr. of Spartanburg; a sister, Evonne Varner Stephens of Union; three grandchildren Zakary O’Shields, Grace and Faith Escalante all of Spartanburg; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Foster was predeceased by a grandson, Chito Escalante, Jr. and a sister, Janice Charleen Edens.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 16, 2012 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Alan Gregory. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Scott Varner, Mike Varner, Gene Shetley, Brian Vinson, Scott Caldwell, Jimmy Caldwell, Mark Johnson and Jared Burnett. Neely Francis Gregory

Mr. Neely Francis Gregory, age 89, husband of Susie Gaston Gregory, of 336 Mt. Tabor Church Road, Union  passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home.
   
Mr. Gregory born in Union County August 27, 1922, a son of the late John L. Gregory and Mattie Pearl Palmer Gregory. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church where he severed at church treasure and was a active Elder. Mr. Gregory attended Lockhart High School and was a US Army veteran of World War II. Following the war he returned to Union County where he began his business career first as a cattle farmer and then as a self employed contractor. He later helped with the construction and management of Union Housing Authority. Mr. Gregory was retired from the USRDA formally FmHA where he was Assistant County Supervisor,
Construction Specialist and a mentor for many employees in the rural development agency. He was co-owner of the family business, Tire and Auto Service Center of Union. Mr. Gregory was a devoted member of the National Republican Committee.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Steven L. Gregory and wife Jewel of Union; two grandchildren, Nick Gregory and wife Nicole and Andrea Gregory Roberts and her husband Jeff; six great-grandchildren, Baylee Butler, Grant Butler, Drake Roberts, Makayla Gregory, Gavin Gregory and Hailey Gregory all of Union. Mr. Gregory was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Suzette Gregory; two brothers, John L. Gregory, Jr. and William S. Gregory and a sister, Ann  G. Fralick.

Funeral services will be held 4:30 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Philippi Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Steve Lemons.


Active pallbearers will be: Glenn Ivey, Edward Farr, Robert Palmer, Ernest Richardson, Dean Garner, Robbie Whitehead, Eddie Wilson, and Jimmy Vaughan. The following are asked to assemble at the church Saturday at 4:15 PM to form the Honorary Escort employees of Tire and Auto Service of Union, Randolph Whitehead and Nancy Lawson.

Visitation will be held at Philippi Baptist Church from 3:00 until 4:15 PM prior to the service Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Walter Todd Johnson, age 41, passed awayTuesday, April 10, 2012 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Mr. Johnson was born in Spartanburg, June 30, 1970 a son of Eugene Johnson of West Springs and Brenda Kay Layton White of Wilmington, NC.  Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. Todd loved the outdoors, loved animals and hunting, and loved his Lord.

Surviving in addition of his father and mother are his step-mother: Phoebe Johnson of West Springs; a brother: E. Russell Johnson, III of Bennettsville, two step-brothers: Matthew L. Shaw of Greenville and Christopher J. Shaw of Spartanburg; and five nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2012 at Bogansville United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Peterson and Mr. Jim Graves.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from prior to the services, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, in the church.

Mrs. Arletta Stepp Knox, age 78, widow of Olin D. Knox and her daughter, Mrs. Tammy Knox Schumpert, age 53, widow of Gene Schumpert, both passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 from injuries sustained in a home fire.

Mrs. Knox was born in Union, November 23, 1933 a daughter of the late Robert G. Stepp and Louise Gaden Stepp. She was retired from Reeves Brothers Manufacturing in Woodruff.

Mrs. Schumpert was born in Union, November 3, 1958 and was a homemaker. Both were members of Fairforest Baptist Church.

Mrs. Knox is survived by a son: Steve Knox of Union; four sisters: Dot Young and Mildred Alexander both of Union and Estelle Dill of Spartanburg; four grandchildren: Jessica Knox, Tyler Knox, Michelle Schumpert and Blake Frew; two great-granddaughters: Alyssia Landrum and Kyrstin Frew. Mrs. Knox was predeceased by a sister, Vera Elrod and a brother: J.B. Stepp.

Mrs. Schumpert is survived by her daughter: Michelle Schumpert of the home; her son: Blake Frew of Florence; her brother: Steve Knox and two granddaughters, Alyssia Schumpert and Kyrstin Frew.

Graveside services for both mother and daughter will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Forest Lawn Cemetery conducted by Rev. Alan Gregory.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at Fairforest Baptist Church prior to the graveside services.

Mrs. Kaye Laxton Burgess, age 64 of 175 Sprouse Rd., Jonesville, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mrs. Burgess was born in Union, November 25, 1947 a daughter of the late Wesley and Ada Kitchens Laxton. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended the University of South Carolina, Union. Mrs. Burgess was retired from Community Long Term Care in Spartanburg. She was the widow of L. J. Burgess and also the widow of Warren Guy Whitfield.

Surviving are a son: Shane Duckett and wife Kelly of Union; a sister: Meta Ward of Union; two grandchildren: Morgan Duckett and Delaney Duckett; a special sister-in-law: Peggy Burgess and husband Bruce of Jonesville. Mrs. Burgess was predeceased by four sisters: Dot Henderson, Mildred Moss, Betty Jo Pettit and Ann Turner and a brother: Johnny Laxton.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Jonesville Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Mark Truitt.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:30 PM Thursday at the Holcombe’s Jonesville Chapel.

Mrs. Gladys Mae Shaw Trammell, age 81 of 506 Lovers Lane Rd., Union, widow of Marvin Trammell, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. Trammell was born in Chattanooga, TN November 20, 1930, a daughter of the late Letcher Shaw and Maude Mathis Shaw. Mrs. Trammell was a former Textile worker and was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.

Surviving are four daughters: Donna Lugo of Buffalo, Carol Martin of Santuc, Shirley Trammell of the home and Marsha Patrick of Union; two sons: James Trammell of Union and Grady Trammell of Union; three brothers: Roger Shaw of Orangeburg, Bobby Shaw and Grady Shaw both of Indianapolis, IN; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, April 9, 2012 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. John Cribbs. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Boulware, Shane Peahuff, Jason Trammell, Grady Trammell, Jr, Johnny Howell and Marvin Howell.

Mrs. Shirley Knox Brannon, age 75 of 108 Johns Street, Union, SC, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the home of her son, Joel Brannon in Chesnee. Mrs. Brannon was the widow of Barney B. Brannon.

Mrs. Brannon was born in Union, SC January 3, 1937, a daughter of the late Gettys Knox and Daisy Davis Knox Williams. She retired from Torrington & Company and was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Brannon was a choir member and treasurer of her Sunday School Class.

Surviving are five sons: Tim Brannon of Union, Wayne Brannon and wife Lori of Lockhart, Michael Brannon and wife Jolen, Darryl Brannon and wife Tab all of Union and Joel Brannon of Chesnee; a sister, Brenda Shetley; a brother, Claudie Williams both of Union; nine grandchildren: Angela Brown, Tracy Lancaster, Timmy Brannon, Kyle Brannon, Carrie Cochran, Jennifer Singletary, Mike Brannon, Danielle Edgins and Leonna Brannon and seven great-grandchildren: Kayla Eller, Brandon Rabon, Randy Rabon, Ben Sanders, Nolan Sanders, Summer Haney and Tyler Haney. Mrs. Brannon was predeceased by two grandsons: Anthony Brannon and Michael Brannon; three sisters: Willie Woods, Louise Black and Naomie Bates and four brothers: Harold Knox, Bobby Knox, Olin D. Knox and Ralph Knox.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Bishop, Rev. Brad Goodale and Rev. Tony Clements. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Nicholas “Nick” O’Neal Stanford, age 18, of 246 Meadow Woods Rd., Buffalo, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012.

Nick was born in Spartanburg, SC., December 17, 1993, a son of Monte Stanford, Jr. and Tammy Lindler Sanford. He was member of Augsburg Lutheran Church and a 2011 Union County High School graduate where he was a member of Future Farmers of America. Nick was avidly involved in mixed martial arts, automobiles and auto mechanics.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a twin brother, Jake Stanford of the home; a half brother, Patrick Sean Stanford and fiancée Amy; one sister, Keri Stanford Adams and husband Richard Jason Adams, all of Union. His maternal grandmother, Clydie M. Lindler; an aunt and uncle, Kathy and Rodney Gallman; 3 Cousins, Erin and John Bobo, Jeremy and Amanda Gallman all of Union; and Amber and John Kenney of Fountain Inn. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Julian M. Stanford, Sr. and Helen Sanders Stanford and his material grandfather, Jimmy Olin Lindler.

Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Friday, April 6, 2012, at the Augsburg Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Carroll Robinson, burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.

Mrs. Viola Taylor Williford, age 89 of 1608 Santuc Carlisle Hwy, Union, widow of Jesse J. Williford, Sr., went home to be with the Lord, Monday, April 2, 2012 at her home.

Mrs. Wiliford was born in Rockingham, NC July 6, 1922, a daughter of the late John Taylor and Marie Ann Ritze Taylor. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from the Cedar Hill Plant. Mrs. Williford was the longest active member of Fairview Baptist Church where whe was a member of the Senior’s Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and a member of the WMU.

Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Burgess of the home; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Williford was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Rosa Robinette; a son, Jesse J. Williford; three sisters: Ruby Kennedy, Mabel Horne and Margaret Hill and three brothers: Clarence Taylor, Walter Taylor and Tillmond Taylor.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, April 6, 2012 at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. David Lewis, Rev. Guy Langston and Rev. Clarence Crocker. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Dennis Wyatt, Jimmy Lawson, Gene Edwards, Thomas Edwards, Dennis Nix and Mike McClain. Members of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and member of the WMU are asked to sit in a group.

Mrs. Jeanette Lawson McCall, widow of Thomas James McCall, Sr. of 216 5th Street, Ottary, SC., passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Wallace Thomson Hospital.

Mrs. McCall was born in Union, January 21, 1939 a daughter of the late Rosco Lawson and Annie Mae Linder Lawson. She was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Tim McCall and wife JoAnn of Union; a sister, Margie Hawkins and husband Burl of Union; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. McCall was predeceased by a son, Thomas “Tuck” McCall, Jr. and a sister and brother, Jeanelle Wilson and Wilbur Lawson.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, April 2, 2012 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Terry Mitchell.

The family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
