Agnes Ruth Purkey Jonesville, Sc

Mrs. Agnes Ruth McKinney Purkey, age 95, widow of Grady Lewis Purkey, formerly of 211 Fairbanks Street, Jonesville, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Mrs. Purkey was born in Jonesville, SC July 14, 1919, a daughter of the late Asbury and Florence McKinney. She was a homemaker and an active member of Jonesville Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Mrs. Purkey loved her Lord and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Purkey is survived by a niece, Wanda Burgess and husband Kevin of Jonesville. She was predeceased by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Gail Purkey and a grandson Todd Purkey. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Ralph Brown and Rev. Jeff Dean. The family wishes to say a special "Thank You" to the staff of Ellen Sagar Nursing Home and Gentevia Hospice for the care Mrs. Purkey received while a patient at Ellen Sagar. The family is at the home of her niece, Wanda and Kevin Burgess, 921 Gaffney Hwy, Jonesville, SC 29353.
