Albert "Mac" Mcneace, Jr.

September 11, 1956 — January 15, 2025

Taylors

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Albert Byrd "Mac" McNeace, Jr., beloved husband, father, and "Pops," who left us peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on September 11, 1956, Mac lived a life full of love, adventure, and a commitment to those who mattered most to him.

A son of the late Albert McNeace, Sr. and Betty Arthur McNeace.  He was a 1974 graduate of Union High School and received his bachelors degree in business in 1995.  He was a member of Covenant Methodist Church in Greer, a former member of Fairview Baptist Church in Greer, where he served as a deacon and a former member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Union.  He retired from Owens Corning as an Alloyed Specialist.

Mac was a devoted family man, who loved the Lord with unwavering faith, always putting the needs of his loved ones first. His love for his family was unparalleled, and his role as a father and "Pops" brought him immeasurable joy. Known for his unwavering dedication, Mac's legacy will forever live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A man of many talents, Mac had an unmatched ability to fix anything. No problem was too big for his skilled hands, and he was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need. Whether it was mending a broken fence or repairing a vehicle, Mac's hands were always busy and his heart always willing.

Mac had a deep love for the outdoors. He cherished the time he spent hunting, fishing, and working on the farm. Nature was his sanctuary, and the peace and fulfillment he found in it were evident in the way he lived his life. The outdoors were where Mac felt most at home, and he found joy in the simple pleasures that nature offered.

In addition to his love for nature, Mac had a passion for music. Though he never considered himself a professional, he could play a little bit of everything, and music brought him great joy. Whether strumming a guitar, playing the piano, or simply listening to a favorite song, Mac's connection to music was something that touched the hearts of those around him.

Mac leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Karen Lane McNeace; two daughters, Heather McNeace Pruitt and husband Shane of Spartanburg and Katey McNeace Hiott and husband Tyler of Travelers Rest; three grandchildren, Lily and Ellie Hiott and Rivers Pruitt; a sister, Judi Lloyd of Columbia; and two brothers, Tim McNeace and wife Patti of Union and Jeff McNeace and wife Kristina of Spartanburg; and many friends who will forever remember his kind heart, his generosity, and the undeniable mark he left on all of their lives.

A celebration of Mac's life will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz and Pastor Laura Geloni.  Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 1705 Lockhart Hwy., Union, SC 29379 or to the Bone Marrow Clinic at Duke Medical Center, C/O Alumni and Development Records at Duke University, P.O. Box 90581, Durham, NC, 27708-0581 in Mac's memory.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of Via Hospice, Prisma Cancer Institute, Prisma Hospital System, and Prisma Palliative Care for their love and care for Mac during his illness.

May he rest in peace, knowing that his legacy of love, laughter, and care will live on in those who loved him most.
