Alex C. Childers

Mr. Alex Chalmers Childers, age 75, of 202 Lowry St., formerly of Lockhart, passed away January 27, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Childers was born in Lockhart, October 21, 1938, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Childers and Mabel Jeanette Childers Childers. He was retired from Milliken Co., and was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Childers is survived by his sister, Lillie Mae Childers Holmes of Chester; a friend Tommy McGowan of the home and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James Frank Childers. Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. James Michael McGowan. Visitation will be held at the cemetery immediately following the service. The family will be at their respective homes.
