Alma B. Gibbs

Mrs. Alma Bright Gibbs, age 90, of 856 Beltline Rd., Union widow of Clyde B. Gibbs, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Mrs. Gibbs was born in Buffalo, September 18, 1925, a daughter of the late John T. and Bertie Dobbins Bright. She was retired from United Merchant, Buffalo Plant and had formerly worked at Mid-Way BBQ. Mrs. Gibbs was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of the Rachel McManus Sunday School class. Surviving are a son, Bobby Joe Gibbs and wife Eveline of Union; two brothers, Bobby Ray Bright and wife Marilyn of Union and Tommy Bright and wife Anne of Clyde, NC; two granddaughters, Angie Barber and husband David and Shannon Rector and husband Tony; five great-grandchildren: Dillon and Tyler Barber and Courtney, Cole, and Cassidy Rector; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gibbs was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Robert Chapman. Active pallbearers will be Danny Bright, Cole Rector, Tyler Barber, Dillon Barber, Otis Davis and Roger Wade. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services. Memorials may be to Tabernacle Baptist Church, Debt Reduction Fund, 915 S. Pinckney St., Union, SC 29379. The family will be at her home, 856 Beltline Rd., Union.
