Alma Inman Valentine

February 6, 2018 Mrs. Alma Inman Valentine, age 82 of 200 E. Hillcrest Avenue, Union, widow of James E. "Pap" Valentine, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mrs. Valentine was born in Union, SC November 4, 1935, a daughter of the late Joseph Smith Inman and Clara Holcombe Inman. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Ellen Sagar Nursing Center. Mrs. Valentine was a member of Union Church of God for over fifty years where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of Prime Timers. Surviving are two daughters: Vickie V. Allen and husband Martin and Patty V. Jenkins; two grandchildren: Chris Allen and wife Mandy and Jennifer Lancaster; three great-grandchildren: Michael Lancaster, Kyleigh Allen and Abby Lancaster all of Union; two sisters: Jean Moore of Tampa, FL and Josie O'Shields of Union; numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Valentine was predeceased by sisters, Cora Riddle, Maggie Teague, Hattie Gregory, Mattie Sue Vinson and Peggy Lee; brothers: Dan Inman, Laurie Inman, Charlie Inman, Rev. Bobby Inman Sr., and Joe Inman and two sons-in-law: Randy Harbin and Stan Jenkins. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Union Church of God conducted by Rev. Stewart Anderson and Rev. Alton Stone. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Steve Beard, John Rogers, Jackie Allison, David Lybrand, Allen O'Dell and Chris Callahan. The following are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Donnie Horne, Mary Jolly, Mae Puckett, Pearl Crocker, Jenny Sylvester, Robert Austin and Micky Cranford. Visitation will be held 11:30-1:00 PM Thursday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Union Church of God, 1113 Thompson Blvd., Union, SC 29379 or to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
