Alonzo S. Jackson, Jr.

Mr. Alonzo Shaird Jackson, Jr., age 78, of Union, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC.

Mr. Jackson was born in Chester, October 9, 1943, a son of the late Alonzo S. Jackson, Sr. and Ida Belle Keasler Jackson. He was a graduate of Union High School and Gardner Webb College. Mr. Jackson was retired from Keenan Transport Co. in Spartanburg and Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing. He had also served as a security guard with the SC Dept. of Corrections. He was a veteran of the SC National Guard and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Alonzo loved fishing, spending time with his family, going to the beach and being at the Farmer's Market on Fridays and Saturdays. He was a very loving, humble, and caring father and brother who took care of his family and was a loyal friend.

Surviving are a daughter, Paige Jackson of Ellenboro, NC; a brother, Mike Jackson and wife Sherry of Union; a sister-in-law, Mary Jackson of Greenville; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who were his grandchildren of the heart. He was a predeceased by a sister, Brenda J. Berry and three brothers, Tom Jackson, Terry Jackson, and Lawrence Eugene "Butch" Jackson.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Lee Coyle and Mr. Chad Ponder. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Thursday at the church prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 1622 Kelly Rd., Union, SC 29379 or to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 372 Hudlow Rd., Forest City, NC  28043.

The family will be at the home of his brother, Mike and Sherry Jackson, 135 Pinewood Acres Rd., Union.
