Amanda Bevis

June 9, 1976 — June 11, 2026

Spartanburg, SC

Amanda Bevis, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, entered the presence of her Savior on Thursday, June 11, 2026, after a courageous three-and-a-half-year battle with pancreatic cancer. She had recently celebrated her 50th birthday on June 9.

The defining characteristic of Amanda’s life was her unwavering love for Jesus Christ. She walked faithfully with the Lord, and everyone who knew her saw that her relationship with Him guided every aspect of her life. Through every season and challenge, and especially throughout her cancer journey, Amanda continued to point others to Christ with remarkable grace, courage, and hope. Her testimony touched countless lives and stands as a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness even in the most difficult circumstances.

While Amanda’s greatest love was the Lord, her family was her greatest earthly treasure. She shared a beautiful marriage with her husband, Reverend Shep Bevis, for nearly 30 years. Their relationship was built on faith, friendship, trust, and unwavering devotion. They were one another’s best friend—the first person each wanted to call with good news, a source of comfort during difficult seasons, and the keeper of one another’s dreams, burdens, and deepest secrets. Their love reflected Christ’s faithfulness through every season of life.

Amanda was her husband’s greatest supporter and ministry partner throughout their nearly 30 years of marriage and ministry. Together, they faithfully led churches in New Hampshire, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina, investing their lives in sharing the Gospel, loving God’s people, and encouraging others in their faith. Most recently, Amanda served alongside Shep at Ben Avon Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and for others was evident in every aspect of her ministry. Together, they built a home centered on faith, family, and service, touching countless lives along the way.

Amanda was the devoted mother of Lauren, Anna, Drew, and Caroline. As a homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a home filled with love, laughter, learning, and faith. She spent many years homeschooling her children and treasured every opportunity to teach, guide, and nurture them. Nothing brought her greater joy than watching them grow into loving, kind, and God-fearing young adults.

Amanda also faithfully served her church family. She taught a women’s Bible study, encouraging and discipling women in their walk with Christ, and she cherished the friendships formed through those gatherings. She also served as a children’s Sunday school teacher, helping young hearts learn about the Savior she loved so dearly.

Amanda was known for her wisdom, kindness, intelligence, and quiet strength. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, loved, and understood. Whether offering encouragement, sharing laughter, praying with a friend, or walking alongside someone through a difficult season, Amanda consistently pointed people toward hope and truth. She leaves behind treasured memories, meaningful conversations, and a legacy of faith that will continue for generations.

Amanda is survived by her husband, Shep; her children, Lauren Bevis, Anna and Matthew Crosland, Drew Bevis, and Caroline Bevis; her bonus children, Isaac Crosland and Ellie Chapman; her grandson, Hunter Hayes Crosland; her mother, Kathryn Sluis (Steve), and stepmother, Lisa Bailey; her siblings, Tina Gilreath (Doug), Donnie Hyder (Annette), Chastity Evans (John), and Amber Williams (Dustin); her mother- and father-in-law, Maurice and Nancy Bevis; her brother- and sister-in-law, Chip and Tiffany Bevis; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Bailey, and her stepfather, Johnny Hyder.

Though her family grieves her absence deeply, they rejoice in the certainty that Amanda is now healed, whole, and in the presence of the Savior she loved so dearly. The faith she lived has become sight, and the Jesus she faithfully served has welcomed her home.

A celebration of Amanda’s life will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, located at 797 Old Georgia Road, Roebuck, South Carolina, on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ben Avon Baptist Church, 2437 Wallace Avenue, Spartanburg, South Carolina.
