Anita Scheidel Lawson Enoree, Sc

Mrs. Anita Scheidel Lawson, age 77, wife of Earl Lawson of 5818 Cross Keys Highway, Enoree, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Mrs. Lawson was born in Hochstein, Germany on December 9, 1936 a daughter of the late Heinrich Scheidel and Hedwig Vetter Scheidel. In 1954 she graduated from business school in Kaiserslautern, Germany, with a diploma in Clerk of Industry. In 1956, she was working as a bookkeeper in the textile industry in Germany and was a member of the Hochstein Town Choir, when she met her future husband Earl Lawson, who was serving in the US Air Force. In 1959, the Lawsons made their home in the United States. She was very patriotic and displayed her Citizenship Certificate with pride. Mrs. Lawson retired in 1996 from Torrington Co. as secretary to the plant manager. She was a member of Padgett's Creek Baptist Church where she had served over the years as a member of the church choir, the Willing Workers Sunday School Class, and the WMU Friendship Circle. She also had printed the Church Bulletin and was active in the church Tape Ministry and was a contributor to the bereavement committee. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Denise Lawson Gann and husband Troy of Boiling Springs; two sons, Henry C. Lawson and wife Paula of Cross Anchor and David Earl Lawson and wife Cheryl of Cross Keys; seven grandchildren, April Goforth, Travis Goforth, Bailey Gann Westmoreland, April Lawson, Jordan Gann, Gabriel Lawson, and Anna Lawson; five great-grandchildren, Sara Jane, Lily Anna, Aiden, Colton, and Owen; a special sister-in-law, Kate Wofford of Cross Keys; special friend and caregiver, Tina Pack of Enoree. She was predeceased by a brother, Hermann Scheidel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Padgetts Creek Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening, 7:00 until 9:00 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303. The family is at the home, 5818 Cross Keys Hwy, Enoree, SC, 29335.
