Mrs. Ann Smith Kimbrell, age 86, of 629 Rice Ave. Ext., Union, widow of James Eugene "Gene" Kimbrell, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Kimbrell was born February 23, 1936 in Union, a daughter of the late Robert Wallace Smith and Louise James Smith. She was a graduate of Union High School and retired from American Federal Bank as a Customer Service Representative. Mrs. Kimbrell had previously worked in the Union County Auditors Office. She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served as organist for 53 years and was a member of the Catherine Williamson Sunday School class (Judy Graham's class), the Keenager's Group, and the Widow's Group. She had also served on the Youth Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Music Committee.
Surviving are a daughter, Cindy K. Fore and husband Steve of Union; two granddaughters, Jamie F. Bowers and husband Kevin and Jenna Lea Fore; a great-grandson, Chaz Bowers; a son-in-law, Bill Posey; cousins, Tweedie Nichols Mills and husband Mike and family, Skee Nichols, Sheila Nichols and son Tripp, Josie White and father, Sam, Sammy White and wife Jill, and son, Brandon, and James "Jim" Willis and wife Linda and son Jimmy; and a special friend, Pam Brown. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lou Kimbrell Posey and an infant brother, Richard Wallace Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, February 13, 2023 at Tabernacle Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Gary Ward and Rev. Kevin Bowers. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Sam White, Lynn Eaves, James Coffer, Cyle Coker, David Austin, and Tommy Anthony. The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Dr. Jeffrey Craft, William Smith, Billy McKinney, Roger Wade, Wilbur Smith, Brown Fant, and Mark Foster. Members of the Judy Graham's Sunday School class are asked to sit in a group.
Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services in the church.
