Mr. Arthur Lynn Phillips, age 90, husband of Mary Cody Phillips of 311 Bruce O. Wilson Rd., Union, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at his home. Mr. Phillips was born in Union, SC March 9, 1924, a son of the late Herbert Phillips and Bessie Vincent Phillips. He was a 1947 graduate of Union High School and had attended the University of South Carolina. Mr. Phillips was the co-founder of Phillips Hosiery and was formerly the Plant Superintendent of Excel Hosiery Mill. Mr. Phillips attended Duncan Acres United Methodist Church where he had been a member of the Church Choir and Quartet. He was a former member of Palmetto of Statesmen where he sang in the Chorus and Quartet. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Kay Phillips Smith and husband Ricky of Columbia and Sally Phillips of Roswell, GA; a son, Charles "Mac" Phillips and wife Susan of Fletcher, NC; a sister, Erline Ayers of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Jeffrey Phillips Alan Smith, Hannah Kinney, Sophia Phillips-Rushing and Riley Phillips-Rushing; two great-grandchildren: June Kinney and Nash Kinney. Mr. Phillips was predeceased by a son, Lynn Phillips, a grandson, Austin Phillips, two sisters: Lucille Phillips Owens and Lena Grace Phillips Elliott and three brothers: Dan Phillips, Judson Phillips and Solomon ST Phillips. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Greater Union Church conducted by Rev. Roger Estes. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Mike Phillips, Don Cody, Wayne Todd, Philip Cody, Jeter Cody, Jr and Brett Burgess. Visitation will be held immediately following the committal service in the Greater Union Church.
