Mr. Arthur William "Bill" Craig, Jr., age 93, husband of Vivian Rochester Craig of 115 Forest St., Jonesville, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Craig was born March 3, 1928, in Jonesville, a son of the late Arthur W. Craig and Beula Ochiltree Craig. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School and Wofford College. Mr. Craig was retired from Mead Westvaco part of the West Virginia Forest Products. He was a former member of the South Carolina National Guard Jonesville and Pacolet Units, where he earned the rank of Major. Mr. Craig was a member of Jonesville Baptist Church, where he had previously taught Sunday School, was a Deacon, sang in the choir, and had held many offices and positions within the church. He was a former member of the American Legion, 20 Man Sports Club, Union County Senior Citizens and a former Union County School Board Member. Mr. Craig was first married to the late Vivian Reynolds Craig.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Neal Craig and wife Pam of Pacolet; two step-daughters, Susan Rochester Haile and husband Don and Amy Rochester Roberts and husband Stephen; a step-son, Tom Rochester and wife Tamatha; three grandchildren, Craig Wilkins and wife Chrissy, Heather Bailey, and Zackery Neal Bailey; a great-grandson, Austin Garner; five step-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and seven step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Ginger C. Garner and Jill C. Prince and a sister, Bernice C. Chapman.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Scott Cannon and Mr. Pat Littlejohn.
Active pallbearers will be Lee Chapman, Jr., Darrell Addis, Greg Fowler, Stan Rochester, Rickey McKinney, Shelton Haile, Brad Rochester, and Pat Littlejohn. The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort, Lee Chapman, III, Kell Chapman, Kevin Fowler, and Randy Kendrick.
Visitation will be immediately following the services at the cemetery.
