July 24, 2018 Mrs. Barbara Woolen Alexander, age 85, wife of Thomas Alexander, of 106 Wingfield Dr., Union, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at Ellen Sagar Nursing Home. Mrs. Alexander was born February 14, 1933 in Union, a daughter of the late Oren Woolen and Edna Morgan Woolen. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended Columbia Bible College. Mrs. Alexander was a former Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. She was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where she was a member of the Connie Springs Sunday School Class and was a former Sunday School Teacher. Mrs. Alexander enjoyed listening to Union County High School Yellow Jackets Sports, especially football on WBCU Radio. She was an excellent seamstress and made all her children's clothing. Mrs. Alexander loved to make people smile. Surviving in addition to her husband of 65 years on August 22, 2018, are three daughters, Elisa Grimmer and husband Rod of Dothan, AL, Bonnie Taylor and husband Ed of Charlotte, NC, and Connie Kemp of Greer; one son, Tommy Alexander and wife Ann Marie of Union; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday, July 27, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge and Rev. Robert Cato. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Bryan Kemp, Rodney Gimmer, Patrick Reed, Jonathan Kemp, Scott Graves, Joel Taylor, Ed Taylor, and Ron Adams. The Connie Spring's Sunday School Class of Mon Aetna Baptist Church and the Nurses and Staff of MSA Hospice are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon, prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
