Mrs. Barbara Johnson Black, age 81, widow of Frank Black passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the home of her son in Duncan.
Mrs. Black was born in Union, May 11, 1939, a daughter of the late William Johnson and Ada Carter Johnson. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended USC-U. She was previously employed with Ace Hardware of Union. Mrs. Black was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, served on the finance, nominating and hostess committees. She was also a member of the Young at Heart. She enjoyed volunteer work and was named Mary Black Hospital Volunteer of the Year.
Surviving are a daughter, Carla Patrick of Clover, a son, Robbie Howell and wife Paula of Duncan; a step-son, Derek Black and wife Jo Nell of Clinton, a daughter-in-law, Tami Fowler of Woodruff; a sister, Elizabeth Cooksey and husband Jim of PA; two brothers, Sonny Johnson of Jonesville and Carl Carter and wife Agnes of Union; five granddaughters, one grandson, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Black was predeceased by a son, Jim Fowler, a sister, Reba Franklin, and a brother, Charles Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Mark Truitt. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Saturday at the church prior to the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairforest Baptist Church, 1917 Jonesville Hwy., Union, SC 29379.
