Barbara P. Holcombe

Mrs. Barbara Marlene Phipps Holcombe, age 74, of Spartanburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior after a long illness on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Magnolia Manor, Spartanburg.

Mrs. Holcombe was born March 8, 1948, in Sampson Co., NC. She was the daughter of the late Jimmie Phipps and Lois Vanderford Phipps West. Barbara graduated from Union High School in 1966. She received her LPN Degree and worked at Wallace Thomson Hospital and Spartanburg Regional Hospital. She worked as a home health nurse in New Orleans, LA and also in Georgia. She loved being a nurse and devoted her life to it until her health declined.

Barbara was a member of Carolina Baptist Church in Spartanburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael "Snookie" Holcombe, a daughter, Teresa Leigh Holcombe, a sister, Janice Phipps Maness and two brothers, Bobby Joe Melton and Larry Melton.

Surviving are a daughter, Jimmie Lou Holcombe of Spartanburg; a sister, Linda P. Wyatt and husband Dennis of Union and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2022 at Rosemont Cemetery conducted by Rev. Brad Goodale. The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the services.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

The family will be at the home of her sister, Linda and Dennis Wyatt, 813 Happy Valley Rd., Union.
