Mr. Baxter William Cody, age 89, of 408 W. Main St., Union, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Cody was born in Union, July 3, 1931, a son of the late John James Cody, Sr. and Janie Nixon Cody. He was a graduate of Union High School and attended Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Mr. Cody was formerly employed as Clerk of the Works in Billerica, MA and was employed with Paradise Home Center in Union for the past 30 years. He was a veteran of both the US Navy and the US Air Force having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Greater Union Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan W. Cody of Lunenburg, MA; a son, Ronald H. Cody and wife Miriam of Northampton, MA; a sister, Sarah Crocker of Johnston, SC; two granddaughters, Kirsten A. Lind of Fort Worth, TX and Maia J. Cody of Lunenburg, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cody was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Nixon Cody; three sisters, Ella Kirby, Mary Phillips and Jeanette Huggins and five brothers, John Cody, Jr., Jeter Cody, Thomas Cody, Frank Cody and Charles Cody.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Roger Estes and Rev. Phillip Cody.

Active pallbearers will be Allen Arthur, Brett Burgess, Christopher Cody, Bruce Hawkins, Ken Palmer and Trevor Strom.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
