Ben Clifford Ivey, Union, Sc Jr.

Mr. Ben Clifford "June" Ivey, Jr., husband of Jeanette Bradley Ivey of 352 Browns Creek Church Rd., Union, passed away, Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ivey was born in Union, SC., June 8, 1928, a son of the late Ben Clifford Ivey, Sr. and Anna Harris Ivey. He attended Kelly-Pinckney High School and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. Mr. Ivey was employed at Milliken and Company-Monarch Plant until his retirement. Following retirement he worked at Paradise Home Center. Married for sixty-six years, he was devote and loving husband to Jeanette. Mr. Ivey left a legacy of faith in God, love for his family and friends and hard work. His philosophy was to put God first and foremost and the blessing would flow. He was always known for his love of the outdoors, piddling in his shed, keeping his yard cut and helping "mama" (Miss Jeanette) with her flowers. Our daddy and papa will be forever missed and loved. He passed the torch to his children grandchildren and great grandchildren setting an example for us to follow the remainder of our lives. Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Ben C. Ivey, III and wife Lynn of Union; two daughters, Cathy Vassey and husband Jerry and Lee Anne Page and husband Larry all of Campobello; Six grandchildren, Mark Ivey and wife Kelly of Union, Stacy Kirkland and husband Toby of Gilbert, Clay Vassey and wife Heather of Columbia, Rev. Brad Vassey and wife Carrie of Sharon, Leslie Duncan of Campobello, and Lindsey Black and husband Chris of Chesnee, ten great grandchildren, four sisters, Rudelle Morris, Anna Lou Tipton both of Union, Barbara Summer of Greenville and Goldie Jordan of Florida. Mr. Ivey was predeceased by one sister, Etrulia Moore and 5 brothers, Arthur Ivey, Will Lindsey Ivey, Leroy Ivey, Ned Ivey and Quinton Ivey. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Brad Goodale, Rev. Tommy Mann and Rev. Brad Vassey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Ivey's grandson will be active Pallbearers: Mark Ivey, Toby Kirkland, Clay Vassey, Brad Vassey, Jeff Duncan and Kadin Ivey. The Adult Men's Sunday school Class at Philippi Baptist Church are asked to ensemble at 10:45 to form the honorary escort. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Philippi Baptist Church.
