Benjamin M. Smith

Mr. Benjamin Marion Smith, age 86, of 504 Bishop Road, widower of Sandra Harvey Smith, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, February 9, 2024 at his home.

Mr. Smith was born in Union, February 11, 1937, a son of the late James Marion Smith and Mary Greer Smith. He attended Union County schools and retired from United Merchants – Buffalo Plant as a Loom Fixer. Mr. Smith had also served with the SC National Guard. He was lifelong member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, John Vaughan and his wife Tammy of Jonesville and a daughter Darla Robinson and her husband Dean of Union; grandchildren, Amber Burgess and husband Trey, Tiffany Vaughan and fiancé Joe Adams and Ashley Ferrell and husband Cole, and great grandchildren, Karsyn and Kole Burgess. He is also survived by a brother, Leonard Smith of Union, a sister, Ann Whitehead of Greenwood, special nephews, Scott and David Whitehead and special friends Hugh and Becky Sanders. Mr. Smith was predeceased by a sister, Sara Treadway.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Lower Fairforest Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Jim Cuningham and Rev. Carrol Caldwell. Visitation will be held at the graveside immediately following the services.
