Berry “Big Chew” Stepp

July 11, 2014 Mr. Berry " Big Chew" Stepp, age 73, husband of Betty Lawson Stepp of 325 Askew Circle, Lockhart, SC, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Stepp was born in Lockhart March 4, 1941, a son of the late Roy Stepp and Mary Walker Stepp. He retired from Spartan Mills - Rosemont Plant and was a member of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters: Patti Inman and husband Dale of Lockhart and Crystal Dabbs of Jonesville; a brother, Roger Stepp and wife Carolyn of Union; a godson, Joey Haney of Newberry; six grandchildren: Lindsay Inman, J.B. Powers, Amanda Roark, Caitlyn Inman, Brandon Walters and Savannah Kirby; a great-grandchild, Gabriel Dabbs; special friends, Joyce Haney and Sally Horne and his precious pet, Maggie. Mr. Stepp was predeceased by a son, Berry Ladon Stepp. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Brian Bishop and Rev. Sam Baine, Jr. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Horne, Randall Burns, Sammy Baine, Sr, Todd Palmer, Tony Lawson and J.W. Williams. Members of the Men's Class and the Crusaders Class of Lockhart Free Will Baptist Church and also the Employees of Blue Ridge Hospice are asked to serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday evening at the Church. The family is at the home, 325 Askew Circle, Lockhart.
