May 25, 2016 Mrs. Beth Thompson Lipscomb, age 90, of 205 Park Dr., Union, widow of Dr. Victor Lipscomb, Jr., passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at her home. Mrs. Lipscomb was born in Cameron, WI, September 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Herman and Palma Thompson. She was employed as a secretary in Madison, WI during WWII when she met her future husband who was stationed there. After making their home in Union, Mrs. Lipscomb began volunteering with Wallace Thomson Hospital and continued for over 50 years. Mrs. Lipscomb was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was active in the Ladies Circles of the church. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed playing bridge and watching football. Surviving are a daughter, Patti L. Chandler and husband Dr. George Chandler of Mt. Pleasant; two sons, Victor Lipscomb, III and wife Sandra of Spartanburg and Jerry Lipscomb and wife Jo Anne of Union; seven grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lipscomb was predeceased by two brothers, Jerry Thompson and Ted Thompson both from Wisconsin. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, May 27, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. David Bauknight. Active pallbearers will be Mike McGee, Frank Alexander, Bill Stoddard, Victor Lipscomb, IV, David Lipscomb and Jonathan Lipscomb. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday in the Parlor of the church prior to the services. Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 217 S. Church St., Union, SC 29379.
