Ms. Betty Dawkins Black, age 82, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Wallace Thomson Hospital. Ms. Black was born December 14, 1931 a daughter of the late George B. Dawkins, Sr. and Mamie Miller Dawkins. She retired from Wallace Thomson Hospital after 27 years as a Nurses Aid. Ms. Black was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Donna Black Robinson of the home; a sister, Judith D. Green of Union; a brother, Oscar S. Dawkins, of Union; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, James Ross "Jimmie" Black, Sr.; two sisters Louise Quarterman and Hazel D. Cape; four brothers, William Dawkins, George B. Dawkins, Jr., Robert E. Dawkins, and Miller Dawkins. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Alan Gregory and Rev. Ricky Cook. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Keisler, Michael Green, Billy McAbee, Johnny McAbee, and Dylan Andres. Harold Dean Keisler is to serve as an honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held 10:45 AM until 11:45 AM Thursday in the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Fairforest Baptist Church Cemetery, 1917 Jonesville Hwy, Union, SC 29379. The family is at their respective homes.
