Betty Arthur Mcneace

Mrs. Betty Arthur McNeace, age 93, adored wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother left this life peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family to join the heavenly choir on March 27, 2022.

Mrs. McNeace was born Betty Jean Arthur to Morris and Nettie Bates Arthur on November 1, 1928, into a large loving family. Betty married Albert B. McNeace on October 8, 1950, and they had almost 71 wonderful years together. They had four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Their children include Judi Lloyd of Columbia, Mac McNeace and wife Karen of Taylors, Tim McNeace and wife Patti of Union, and Jeff McNeace of Greer. Grandchildren include Cenna Lloyd, Sara Lloyd, Heather Pruitt and husband Shane, Kate Hiott and husband Tyler, Dylan McNeace, Marissa McNeace and Leslie Cagle and husband Carroll. Great-grandchildren include Lily Hiott, Ellie Hiott, Rivers Pruitt, and Carson Cagle.

Betty was an active member Bethel United Methodist Church her entire life and sang in Bethel's choir for over 70 years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women. She served for many years as the children's choir director and as a children's Sunday school teacher. She taught four-year-old Kindergarten at Bethel for 25 years, and still today is known fondly by many of her former students as "Ms. Betty".

Betty was a 1947 graduate of Union High School and attended North Greenville College.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Al, who passed away October 4, 2021, her parents, and siblings, Zanoma Coward Davis, James Arthur, Doil Arthur, Bill Arthur, Virginia Robertson, Frances Arthur, Joyce Parsons, and Jim Arthur.

Betty is especially remembered for her beautiful alto voice, her Christian spirit, her love of flowers and nature, and her fun competitive spirit in playing games with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Friday, April 1, 2022, at Bethel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Merritt Wentz. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Andy Arthur, Sid Gressette, Robert Edwards, and David Turner.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday at the church prior to the services.
