Betty Gilchrist O'Dell

Mrs. Betty Gilchrist O'Dell, age 84, widow of Walter Murray O'Dell of 3056 Gilchrist Rd., Sharon, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at Heartland of Union.

Mrs. O'Dell was born in Chester, December 25, 1936, a daughter of the late John Frazier Gilchrist and Ira McDaniel Gilchrist.  She was a member of Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church.  Mrs. O'Dell was a retired nurse for Doctor Gerald Fielder's Office.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Peggy G. O'Dell of Sharon, two granddaughters, Christy Parkins and husband Jared of Jonesville and Michelle Newton and husband Trey of Dallas, NC; a grandson, Kevin Brown and wife Tonya of Jonesville; five great-grandchildren, Karly Brown, Madelyn Parkins, Ella Kate Parkins, Emma Newton, and John Ross Newton; a sister-in-law, Della Gilchrist; and several nieces and nephews.  Mrs. O'Dell was predeceased by a son, Donald M. O'Dell and a daughter, Dianne O'Dell; a sister, Mary Gilliam and two brothers, James Gilchrist and Garland Gilchrist.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Bullock Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Craig Marshall.  The family will receive friends immediately following the services.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to Heartland Nursing Center and Hospice Care for their love and care of Mrs. O'Dell during her illness.
