Betty Ann Morris Rogers, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on June 18, 1950, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Santina Grisafi Morris and Leslie Morris. As the daughter of a United States Navy serviceman, Betty spent her early years moving from place to place, living from Maine to Florida before her family eventually settled in Angier, North Carolina. It was there that she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at Angier First Baptist Church, beginning a lifelong faith that guided her in all she did.

After graduating from high school and completing data processing coursework, Betty began working in Raleigh, North Carolina. There she met her future husband, David L. Rogers, who was attending North Carolina State University. They were married on May 30, 1971, beginning a partnership defined by love, devotion, and shared purpose.

Following David’s career with Milliken & Company, Betty and David made their home in Union, South Carolina. After the birth of their son Andy in April 1980, and later their daughter Keely in April 1984, Betty devoted herself fully to raising her family. She managed every detail of home life with care—doctor’s appointments, carpools, and the countless responsibilities that come with being a full-time mother—always placing her family first.

As her children grew, Betty extended her care to the broader community by volunteering at Buffalo Elementary School, where she was named Volunteer of the Year for two consecutive years. She later joined the staff, serving as a teacher’s aide, attendance clerk, and school secretary before continuing her career at the Union County School District Office, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.

Betty was a former school secretary at both the elementary level and the district office. She was a woman of creativity, generosity, and deep devotion to those she loved. A great seamstress, she made clothing for her family, including rifle shooting pants for Andy and a band uniform for Keely. She enjoyed researching family history on Ancestry.com and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She loved refinishing furniture and always had crafts in progress, painting and redecorating her home. She loved antiquing and spending time with her friends in the Red Cup Club. She was very active socially, participating in the Friday lunch bunch, bridge club, and the Union County Dinner and Dance Club.

Betty was known for her unselfishness. She loved shopping and giving gifts, often finding treasures at Dollar Tree and auctions, always thinking of others, especially her family. She loved a good party and a good social gathering. She loved Christmas deeply. Each family member had their own color of wrapping paper and numbering each present so she could keep track of gifts and ensure no one received less than another. She made ceramic nativity sets and other Christmas decorations to give to family. She also enjoyed watching old movies, especially It’s a Wonderful Life.

She was known as “Nana” to her beloved granddaughters, each of whom she loved very much, and who loved her in return.

She is survived by her husband, David L. Rogers; her son, Andy Rogers and wife Tyler; her daughter, Keely Rogers Latham and husband Geoffrey; her granddaughters, Elowyn Rogers, Lily Rogers, Autumn Latham, and Adeline Latham; her sister, Carol Morris Singley and husband Bob; her sister, Robin Morris and Michael Zvarich; and her brother, Leslie Morris. She is also survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Mamie Rogers, and sister-in-law Terry Lynn Rogers.

Betty will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous spirit, her love of family, and the countless quiet ways she made life brighter for others. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
