Mrs. Betty Levister Smith, age 68 of 228 Estes Rd. Union, widow of Maxie Ray Smith, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025 at the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mrs. Smith was born in Chester, July 7, 1957, a daughter of the late Robert Davis Levister and Geneva Ramey Levister and was raised in the home of Stella and Glenn Locklair of Lexington. She was a graduate of Columbia High School and had retired from Springs Katherine Plant in Chester. Mrs. Smith was a member of Cool Branch Baptist Church in Blair.

Surviving are two daughters, Leigh Mitchell and husband Dell of Union and Kelly Tucker and husband Jeffrey of Buffalo; two granddaughters, Hannah Williams and Quinn Tucker; and eight grandsons, Kaleb Williams, Jackson Tucker, Paul, Daniel, Samuel and Matthew Mitchell, Adrian Jeter and Brayden Dowis. Mrs. Smith is also survived by four sisters, Mary Mobley of McConnells, Shirley Branham of Lexington, Barbara Freeman and husband Robbie and Carolyn Bowie and husband Butch all of Greenwood; a step-sister, Leigh Watson and a step-brother, Trey Locklair both of Lexington. She was predeceased by three sisters, Gwen Slack, Linda Levister and Sally Aragon and two brothers. Charles Levister and Leonard Levister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 4, 2025 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Chad Ponder. Burial will be at Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Blair.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Friday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Tucker, Jackson Tucker, Kaleb Williams, Dell Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Daniel Mitchell, Adrian Jeter, Brayden Davis and Grady Tucker.

Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Kelly and Jeffrey Tucker, 2470 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
