Billy Dean Gibson

April 20, 2017 Mr. Billy Dean Gibson, age 85, husband of Joanna Porter Gibson of 419 Mt. Tabor Church Rd., Union, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home. Mr. Gibson was born in Lockhart, August 4, 1931, a son of the late Russell Sage Gibson and Sallie Childers Gibson. He was retired from Cone Mill, Carlisle Finishing and had received a Master degree in Theology. Mr. Gibson was a member of Wilksburg Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon, Sunday School teacher and was a member of the choir. Mr. Gibson was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War. Afterwards, he joined the South Carolina National Guard from which he retired. Mr. Gibson was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving in addition to his wife of 63 years are three daughters, Terry G. Horne, Tammy G. Pierce and husband Ronnie all of Union, and Amy G. Linder and husband Doug of Gaffney. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 21, 2017 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel. Burial with full Military Honors will be at Lockhart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday at the chapel prior to the services. Members of the Wilksburg Baptist Church along with Dr. Robert Wentz, Jackie Parks and Jerry Parks are asked to sit in a group. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O.
