Mr. Billy Joe Hamrick, Sr., passed away on December 10, 2018 after a brief period of declining health. He was born in Landrum, SC on March 7, 1927 to Mrs. Vera Hamrick. Mr. Hamrick was a 1944 graduate of Union High School, where he lettered in football. Upon, graduation he worked briefly at Buffalo Mill. He then joined the Navy as a Hospital Apprentice, First Class. He served until the end of World War II. After the war, he went to Watchmaking School in Spencer, NC. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Mr. Hamrick married the love of his life, Margaret Eubanks in 1949, and they were married just ten days shy of their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Together, they owned and operated Hamrick's Jewelry for over 40 years. Joe Hamrick was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was always selfless and kind. He shared his wisdom and conveyed valuable life lessons with his family whom he adored. He was a friend to all. Mr. Hamrick is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving are a son, Jody Hamrick of Buffalo; a daughter, Cathy Pickens and husband Paul of Prosperity; a special family friend, Vicki Nalls; and a special cousin, Etta Jenkins. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Lynn Ford. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:30 PM prior to the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his Bermuda Run neighbors, Leroy Parks and Candy Gore for their many kindnesses shown to Mr. Hamrick. In lieu of flowers and food, the family request memorials may be made to Buffalo Baptist Church, P.O. Box 428, Buffalo, SC 29321. The family is at their respective homes.
