Bobby Gene Burkhalter, Sr.

February 13, 2018 Mr. Bobby Gene Burkhalter, Sr., age 85, husband of Ellen Cornelia Corder Burkhalter of 118 Kissy Creek Circle, Union, passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home. Mr. Burkhalter was born in Newberry, SC March 12, 1932, a son of the late Jesse Burkhater and Sara Finny Burkhalter. He was a retired textile worker and of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Burkhalter was a Veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War. Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty years are three daughters: Sherry Templeton of Laurens, Patsy Gibson of Greer, and Theresa Burkhalter of Whitmire; three sons: William Burkhalter, Steven Burkhalter both of the home and Terry Burkhalter of Laurens; a special grandson, Daniel Corder of the home and fifteen other precious grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. Mr. Burkhalter was predeceased by a son, Bobby Gene Burkhalter, Jr, two sisters and four brothers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018 at SR Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Tony Dickertt. Burial will be in Whitmire Cemetery with Military Honors. Active pallbearers will be Mr. Burkhalter's grandsons. Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM Thursday in the chapel prior to the service.
