Bobby Joe Lawson

Mr. Bobby Joe Lawson, age 85, husband of Iris Mae Lawson, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.

Mr. Lawson was born March 1, 1935 in Spartanburg, a son of the late Alfred Lawson and Vera Lawson Lawson.  He was a graduate of Roebuck High School.  Mr. Lawson retired from Torrington & Co.—Tyger River Plant and had previously worked for Milliken & Co.  He was a Veteran of the United States Army.  Mr. Lawson was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Dennis Lawson and wife Ava Gail of Pauline; a brother Wayne Lawson and wife Edith of Pauline; a grandson Jason Lawson and his girlfriend Kayla Christopher; and a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Lawson.  He was predeceased by a grandson Christopher Lawson and a brother Emslie Lawson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 21, 2020 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Ministry Center conducted by the Rev. Melvin Shelton, Rev. Carroll Caldwell, and Mr. Joey Duncan.  Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Don Tucker, Gerald Lawson, Phillip Lawson, Randy Beardon, Earl Lawson, and T.J. Farr.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the services at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 2153 Mt. Lebanon Rd., Buffalo, SC 29321.
