Brandi Lee Owensby

Mrs. Brandi Lee Owensby, age 40, wife of William Reeder "Will" Owensby, of Irmo, passed away suddenly on Sunday January 12, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland.

Brandi was born September 16, 1984 in Steuben County, New York  a daughter of Helen Riley (John) of Chesapeake,Virginia and Mike Gettings (Tina) of Prattsburgh, NY.  She was a graduate of Prattsburgh Central School, Winthrop University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre Education, and the University of South Carolina, where she received her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  She was employed at White Knoll High School where she had been the Theatre Teacher and Director since 2008.  Brandi was a published playwright, writing "Know Your Role," which has been performed over 60 times worldwide.  She was a member of St. Simon St. Jude Episcopal Church of Irmo.

Surviving in addition to her husband of over 22 years are a daughter, Aurora Joy "Rori" Owensby of the home; a sister, Kara Blankenship, of Virginia; a brother, Jesse Gettings, of Texas; and many other relatives who loved her.  She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Bill and Joyce Gettings.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2024 at St. Simon St. Jude Episcopal Church, 1110 Kinley Rd., Irmo, SC 29063.  The funeral will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@st.simonst.judeepiscopalch9333/featured

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening at White Knoll High School Performing Arts Center, 5643 Platt Springs Rd., Lexington, SC 29073. Attendees are asked to wear purple if they can.
