Brenda Blackwood Kingsmore of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at her Buffalo home on January 27, 2025. She was born April 21, 1945. The daughter of the late James W., Sr. and Deanie G. Blackwood, Brenda is survived by her husband, Dan Kingsmore, and their son, Kip Daniel Kingsmore, also of Myrtle Beach. A 1963 graduate of Union High School, Brenda attended Furman University and was an RN graduate of Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing. Following a 27-year nursing career, Brenda became a licensed real estate broker having lived and practiced in GA, NC, SC and VA.
She lived an adventurous lifestyle and traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia visiting 17 different countries during her lifetime. She also resided in Hong Kong for 3 years with her husband.
Brenda was a caring and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed spending quality time with both family and friends and lived to entertain and prepare for them. Brenda's passion for cuisine brought people together around her table, a place where laughter and love were the main ingredients. Her meals not only consisted of delectable foods, but also a taste of her warm personality and generously kind spirit for which she will forever be remembered. Brenda's love for her family members was unprecedented and she cherished the love of each one.
Surviving alongside her husband and son, immediate family members include her brother, Reverend James W. (Sonny) Blackwood, Jr.(Linda) of Spartanburg, SC, and sisters, Beverly Blackwood Gregory(Curtis) of Buffalo, SC and Jeanie Blackwood Malone(Chuck) of Union, SC. Nieces and nephews include Anna Malone Guest(Jon Michael) of Spartanburg, Kathryn Gregory Massengill(Caleb) of Spartanburg, Leigh Blackwood Thornley(Andrew) of San Antonio, TX, Travis Blackwood(Christy) of Wellford, SC, John Gregory(Brittnee) of Buffalo, SC, Jordan Gregory(Rachel) of Duncan, SC, Allen Kingsmore of Indian Trail, NC, Ed Kingsmore of Kill Devil Hills, NC, and Van Kingsmore(Sheila) of Clarendon, NC. Affectionately known as Bibi by her family, Brenda was adored by her numerous great nieces and great nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Very special family friends include Sylvia Simpson McQuaig of Jacksonville, FL and Norman and Darrelene Shaw of Duncan, SC.
Pallbearers will be Travis Blackwood, Jon Michael Guest, Allen Kingsmore, Ed Kingsmore, Van Kingsmore, and Caleb Massengill.
A graveside service conducted by Reverend James W. Blackwood, Jr. will be held at Bogansville United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 30, at 3:00pm. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Tidelands Health, MUSC, and Crescent Hospice.
