Brian Douglas Shields

Brian Douglas Shields passed away on October 23, 2022 at the home of his parents in Union, SC, after a valiant battle with cancer and surrounded by family and friends.  Brian was born on November 25, 1973 in Orange, CA to Douglas M. And Victoria Lincoln Shields.  He lived at various times in Oxford, MS; Harmans, MD; Laurel, MS; and Union, SC while growing up.  Brian was a talented artist, a welder, a first-rate chef, a graphic artist, and computer expert.  At various times his work encompassed all of these skills.  He had a quick wit and loved to discuss food, music, politics, and all manner of other interests.

Brian is survived by his parents, wife Hannahjoy Perkins Shields, sons Samuel and John Michael Shields all of Greenville SC,  brother Gregory Shields of Blackwood NJ, sister Kathleen (Stanley) Shields-Williams, nieces Madison and Mirabelle Williams all of Rock Hill SC, his father-in-law Ken Perkins of Greenville SC, brother-in-law Dr David Perkins of Myrtle Beach SC, aunts Carla Lincoln of Sullivan IN, Susan Goldsboro and Janet Lowe (John) of Martinsville IN, uncles John (Naida) of Union, and David (Patricia) Shields of Spartanburg SC, special friends Leigh Rose, Josh Newton, dear family friend, Tina Cordell, many cousins, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Edgar and Clara Davison Lincoln, paternal grandparents John T. and Betty Lane Shields, mother-in-law Betty Lou Perkins, uncles James Shields, Kenneth Lincoln, James Lincoln, and aunts Barbara Lincoln Ice, and Nancy Lincoln Knight.

Brian's wishes were for cremation of his remains and a wake in lieu of a service.  The wake in Brian's honor, to be hosted by his family and friends, will be held on a future date. Details will be announced.
