Bruce H. Whisnant

Mr. Bruce H. Whisnant, age 70, husband of Iris Brown Whisnant of 125 Bates Ave. Ext, Union, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mr. Whisnant was born in Union, SC October 25, 1946, a son of the late William McPhillips Whisnant and Corrie Farr Whisnant. He was a graduate of Union High School, Spartanburg Technical College and retired from Timken Company. Mr. Whisnant was a faithful member of Morningside Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Anne Whisnant Marshall and husband Steven of Heath Springs; two sons: William Clay Whisnant and John Brice Whisnant and wife Jessica; a sister, Debbie Whisnant Cavender; a brother, Danny J. Whisnant all of Union; four grandchildren: MacKenzie Marshall, Seth Marshall, Rowan Whisnant and Braxton Whisnant; a niece, Crystal Cavender Todd and a nephew, Andrew Cavender both of Union. Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Union Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Dr. Aulbrey Calvert. Active pallbearers will be Frank Bobo, Neil Valentine, Cecil Brown, David Barber, Randy George and Tommy Knox. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the SR Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Morningside Baptist Church, 112 Bates Avenue, Union, SC 29379. The family will be at the home, 125 Bates Ave. Ext, Union.
