Bryan Franklin "Rip" Gruver

Mr. Bryan Franklin "Rip" Gruver, age 76, 306 Wilson St., Union, widower of Susie Davis Gruver, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Union Medical Center.

Mr. Gruver was born March 25, 1944 in Union, a son of the late Bryan Gruver and Sadie Vaughan Gruver.  He was a graduate of Frankfurt American High School in Germany while his father was stationed there.  Mr. Gruver attended Gardner Webb University.  He retired from Union County Road Maintenance Department and had previously worked for Champion Paper in Jonesville.  Mr. Gruver was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church, but was raised in the Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph Franklin "Jank" Gruver and wife Aleshia of Union and Brian Scott Gruver of Miami, FL; a brother, Jon Jeffrey Gruver of Charleston; and two grandson, Joseph Brett Gruver and Hayden Meadows.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 9, 2020 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Chris Gulledge.  Visitation will be held immediately following the services at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
