Buford Ben Brown

Mr. Buford Ben Brown, age 83, husband of Gladys Patterson Brown, of 151 Belvue Dr., Union, went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 16, 2021, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Brown was born October 24, 1937, in Woodruff, a son of the late William H. "Buck" Brown and Carrie Lee Hanna Brown.  He owned and operated Brown's Auto Service and later co-owned and operated B&B Auto Parts and was also a member of the IGO.  Mr. Brown was one of the founding members of Southside Fire Department.  He was a Veteran of the South Carolina National Guard.  Mr. Brown was an active member of Sardis United Methodist Church where he was apart of the Men's Club and had served on various committees.  He was an avid fisherman.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Benny Brown and wife Bonnie of Union; a granddaughter, Ashley Wells and husband Paul of Union; a great-grandson, Jacob Wells of Union; a sister-in-law, Deannie Brown; a nephew, Billy Brown; and a niece, Tammy Nance.  He was predeceased by two brothers, John W. Brown and Walter A. Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Sardis United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Jeff Farmer and Mr. Roger Bailey.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Roger Bailey, Rick Gault, Sid Palmer, Tommy Boyd, Larry LeMaster, and Terry Humphries.  The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, Members of Southside Fire Department, the Men of Sardis United Methodist Church, Jack Rash, Willie Young, James Sumner, John Smith, Dennis Nix, and Martin Heatherly.

Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home.
