Carol H. Bailey

Mr. Carol Hampton Bailey, age 86, husband of Hilda Ward Bailey, of 619 Lakeview Heights, Union, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at his home.

Mr. Bailey was born March 31, 1935, in Union, a son of the late Robert Howard Bailey and Cora Lee Jolly Bailey.  He was a graduate of Union High School and Cecil's Business College. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War.  He owned and operated Bell Petroleum and had previously worked at Milliken & Co. for 20 years. Mr. Bailey had also served as the maintenance supervisor at Wallace Thomson Hospital.  He was a member of Mon Aetna Baptist Church where he had been a Deacon, choir member, and served on numerous other church committees.  Mr. Bailey was a woodworking craftsman and enjoyed yard work.

Surviving are four sons, Carol "Barol" Bailey of TyTy, GA, Roger A. Bailey and wife Charlene of Jefferson, SC, Anthony W. "Andy" Bailey and wife Kelli of Union, and Ronald H. "Boonie" Bailey and wife Hollie of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Rebecca B. Criswell and husband Anthony of La Grange, GA; nine grandchildren, Allison Purser, Kristen Houston, Morgan Bailey, Reid Bailey, Julia Bailey, Max Bailey, Nick Bailey, Libby Criswell, and Milly Criswell; four great-grandchildren, Arley, Finn, Maizy, and Hutch Purser; three brothers, Donnie Bailey, Larry Bailey, and Reid Bailey; one sister, Reida Cochran; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a brother, Neil Bailey and two sisters, Betty Jo Wages and Mildred Roper.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Mon Aetna Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Gulledge and Rev. Benny Green.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Max Bailey, Nick Bailey, Tommy Calhoun, Kenny Morris, Rodney Purser, Jr., David Ward, Jr., and Sam Bell.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00AM Saturday prior to the services at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mon Aetna Baptist Church, 1431 Lockhart Highway, Union, SC 29379.
