Ms. Virginia "Carol" McGlocklin, age 79, wife of Mike "Poochie" Johnson of Buffalo, passed away at Union Post Acute on March 5, 2024 after a long twelve year battle with dementia.
Ms. Carol was born in Union, September 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Preston H. McGlocklin and Agnes Evans McGlocklin Griffith. She was a talented pianist and crafter, but she is best known for the years she ran the family restaurant, Griffith's in Buffalo. Cooking was her niche, and her fried chicken was the very best. Due to declining health, Ms. Carol eventually chose to leave the restaurant business and began working as a caregiver. She will be remembered for her kind, nurturing heart as she loved taking care of people including her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving in addition to her husband is her daughter, Michelle Hearn and husband Cody of Union; a sister, Emily "Priss" Griffith of Union; two brothers, Robert "Bobby" Griffith and wife Mary of Boiling Springs, and James "Marion" Griffith and wife Judy of Covington, VA; a special cousin, Sue Jett Haney of Union, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Ms. Carol is also survived by her two grandchildren, Jace Hearn and Ty Hearn, whom she loved dearly.
Ms. Carol was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Lee "Danny" McGlocklin and her step-father, William "Bill" Griffith.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to Union Post Acute and Heartland Hospice for the great care they provided for Ms. Carol during her last months.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Doug Estes and Rev. Dr. Tom Tucker.
