Carolyn Hembree Boltin, age 70 of Beechaven Rd., Columbia, passed away Friday, January 30, 2015. Ms. Boltin was born in Union, SC, daughter of the late B.F. and Marie Morris Hembree. She was a graduate of Union High School and attended Winthrop College and University of South Carolina, Union. Ms. Boltin worked 12 years for the S.C. Dept. of Corrections as an Administrative Specialist. She had also worked for SC DHEC, Wilbur Smith Printing Division and then as a Publications Manager for the S.C. Bar from 2000-20111. Ms. Boltin attended Greenlawn Baptist Church of Columbia and was an active member of the Emily Lee Mission Group. Surviving are a daughter, Hope Dezern of Spartanburg; her beloved companion of 13 years, Don Shirley of Blythewood; a son, Charles Randall Ardis; sister-in-law, Rebecca Hembree Wade of Union and two nephews, Jay Hembree and David Hembree. She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley Hembree of Union. A memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Linda Anderson at 4:30 PM Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel in Union. The family will receive friends immediately following the services.
