Carolyn O. Mcmurray

June 11, 2018 Mrs. Carolyn O'Shields McMurray, age 78, of 2242 Hwy. 72, Whitmire, widow of Charles "Skeet" McMurray, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at the J.F. Hawkins Nursing Center in Newberry. Mrs. McMurray was born in Whitmire, September 28, 1939, a daughter of the late Jack and Vernelle "Tot" Evans O'Shields. She was a graduate of Whitmire High School and retired as a receptionist in Dr. Rick Bledsoe's dentist office. Mrs. McMurray was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitmire. Surviving are a son, Reggie McMurray of the home; a brother, Rev. Charles O'Shields of Chapin; four grandchildren, Nicole McMurray, Charles McCarley, and John McCarley and wife Leigh Ann, all of Whitmire and Lesley M. Gregory and husband Jonathan of Union; five great-grandchildren, Jase Edwards, Levi McMurray, Chase, Noah, and Dalana McCarley; her aunt, Marion Johnson of New York and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. McMurray was predeceased by a daughter, Jodi McCarley, a son, Randy McMurray and a sister, Jackie Frazier. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 15, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Whitmire conducted by Rev. Shannon Long and Rev. Charles O'Shields. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Friday at the church prior to the services. Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church of Whitmire, 173 Glenn St., Whitmire, SC 29178. The family will be at their respective homes.
