Carrie Horne Holcombe

Mrs. Carrie Horne Holcombe, age 92, of 1703 Mt. Tabor Church Rd., Jonesville, widow of William Hope Holcombe passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at Heartland Health Care. Mrs. Holcombe was born in Union, SC on March 8, 1924 a daughter of the late Ed Horne and Ella Inman Horne. She was retired from Milliken & Co.-Lockhart Plant. Mrs. Holcombe was first married to the late Morris Horne. Surviving are one son, John Edward Horne and wife Dale of Union; one sister Lib Scronce; and thirty-five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Emily Horne Adams; a son, Douglas Horne; six brothers, Lewis Horne, Johnny Horne, Early Horne, Dick Horne, Douglas Horne, and August Horne; and four sisters Eddie Mae Kirby, Edith McBride, Flossy Horne and Mallie Smith. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Alan West. Burial will follow at Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Deaton, David Adams, Tommy Adams, Heath Adams, Jamie Horne, Edward Inman, and Stacy Horne. The Judy Hayes Sunday School Class is asked to sit in a group. Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM Saturday evening at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Joy Baptist Church 657 Pea Ridge Highway, Jonesville, SC 29353. The family is at the home of her granddaughter, Penny Deaton, 1337 Peach Orchard Rd., Union, SC 29379.
