Obituary

Mr. Carrol Hampton Alexander, Sr., age 86, husband of Brenda Sims Alexander, of 123 Peay Ave., Union, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 27, 2026, at his home.

Mr. Alexander was born on August 24, 1939, in Union, a son of the late Wallace T. Alexander and Jesse Fowler Alexander. He was a graduate of Union High School and retired from Torrington after more than 40 years of dedicated service. A faithful member of Philippi Baptist Church, Mr. Alexander was affectionately known as "Admiral Alexander," a nickname earned through his faithful care of the church buses. Whether ensuring they were maintained, ready to travel, or simply taking care of whatever was needed, he quietly served his church with a willing heart and a servant's spirit.

Surviving are two sons, Carrol Alexander and wife Michelle of Union and Chris Alexander and wife Jennifer of Union; a sister, Rosenell Adams and husband Aubrey of Union; a sister-in-law, Kathy Bobo and husband Gene of Union; a son-in-law, Morgan Mayson of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Bryson Alexander, Cody Alexander, Kyle Mayson, Jonathan Alexander, Kasie Sanders and husband Ethan, Alexis Sherr, and husband Carter and Virginia Alexander; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Sanders, Hamp Sanders, Cali Alexander, and Mattie Sanders; a cousin, Janet Nash; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Angela Mayson; two nephews, Al Adams and Buddy Boy Adams; two sisters, Francis Lane and Madelyn Adams; two brothers, Alvin Alexander and Thomas Alexander; a brother-in-law, Buddy Adams; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Alexander.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Philippi Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Robert Scott and Rev. Brad Goodale.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Harris, Mark Wade, Tommy Alexander, Sammy Bobo, Kent Orr, and Craig Lancaster. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, the Jim Palmer Sunday School Class, Kenny and Tonya Proctor, Vernon Mosley, Tommy Knox, and Mary Ellen Gregory.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM prior to the services at the church.
